Well, I’m only interested in the edit function and like I said, simplicity is the way to go. I’m already just using pages and sub pages for my current setup.

But I’ll try recreating it myself. When will the future version (3.0) be released, this year? If not, then I cannot wait for that to come around.

Thanks for the help though, hearing that it’s just a blog on the wpmu system, lets me know that I dont have to install a standalone wordpress to accomplish this.

If someone has suggestions on how to do the edit function or still is willing to make a plugin, please let me know.

Found similar issues on the osCommerce forums related to javascript uploaders for images, and in the WordPress.org forums for the WP media Library’s flash uploader since v2.5

Although I’m not tech enough to solve this issue, it does absolutely appear to be related to the javascript cropper for uploaded images ….. AND NOTHING ABOVE HAS FIXED IT FOR ME

Please don’t trot out the “start your own thread” instruction – there is too much of the above posts that are pertinent and the problem is not resolved.

…. or do you want the same situation as the WP.org forums that have hundreds of report threads about this error? None of them resolved other than to point at the WP plugin to use the “no flash uploader” plugin.

    Hi,

I have been testing out buddypress a while now and the application are very easy to use and still powerfull.

But I got a big issue with budypress and wordpress which I dont like, which I hope can be fixed in the settings.

The problem is that when a subscriber log in and wants to write a article he/she must first create a blog with a title at first. And after that, the subscriber get linked to the wordpress admin site suddenly,( doing so leaving the buddypress interface!!, why is that? it looks odd) And From here he/she can write a post, but the person can also change everything on his her blog site (add plugins, add members etc) because he/she are the admin of the blog she/he created. Is it possible to remove all these permissions?

How am I suppose to do if I just want the subcriber to only get permission to write and edit his/hers blogs? Is this even possible?

    Topic: BP Translate

in group forum Third Party Plugins

Translation suite for BuddyPress (Beta super bleeding edge use-at-your-own-risk release)

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-translate/

Includes a multilingual page/post capability for blogs (based on qTranslate), a po/mo editor (based on Codestyling Localization), and a slew of ajax functions for translating BuddyPress core component user interaction through Google Translate on the fly.

Very little support will be offered for this plugin, so use at your own risk. It’s held together with duct tape and glue, so parts may be loose or totally broken for you.

http://www.noserub.com is a contentaggregationtool … and i’d like to see similar functions on buddypress.

I read abut the Plugin LifeStream for WordPress … is ist compatible with WP MU ?

    @Xevo:

Andy has installed on the codex a very quick and simple way to modify the individual pages of the codex. It’s a customized setup of sorts, but it’s really just another WPMU blog that everyone has the ability to edit.

In future versions of WordPress (probably 3.0) posts will become more robust and be better suited for something like this. Until then the codex is basically just pages and sub pages with a theme that knows how to make sense of the hierarchy.

    Hi Buddypress community,

There’s been a lot of fuzz about a wiki sort of plugin and integration with wikimedia. But I saw that buddypress.org already has a wiki-like plugin? With which I mean the codex.

If this is a plugin, is this downloadable somewhere and if not, could someone make a plugin of this? It’ll be a lot easier than trying to intergrate wiki or making a whole new wiki.

Personally I’d rather have an easy to use plugin which just uses the categories/pages from wordpress itself and is adjustable by users. This’ll save space and workload on your server as well.

    Greets,

Using Buddypress 1.1.2, and latest wordpress mu, I allow install forum (fresh install) using one click install that buddypress allows. After the installation, I saw latest forum topics list in categories such as newest topics, most popular topics, unreplied topics, and my topics, when I click into those categories, but there is no button to post new topic. Am I missing something here? No one is able to post anything.

    Hi there

I’m wondering, if buddypress is also able to aggregate informations from other social networks like flickr, twitter, facebook, other blogs (wordpress, blogger …) delicious.com and so on.

There are such concepts ( e.g. noserub.com) that aggreagte (almost) everything from everywhere thorugh RSS or APIs.

I’ve marked this topic as resolved as it’s not a BuddyPress issue and we have helped as much as we can.

1and1 seem to have issues with WordPress MU. If anyone else uses 1and1 and has problem, search this forum for previous topics.

In my experience loading anything on to the wordpress.org/extends/ that isn’t release-ready is asking for trouble and will only give you threads of people saying why isn’t x working, etc.

Sure, will refer the codex for adapting to the new theme way John, thanks!

These are the links that I’m referring to, great documentation available to help users with all the info they need to switch to the 1.1 theme architecture :

Meanwhile, is there any alternative to bp_core_signup_do_signup() in BP 1.1.2?

    Thanks,

Using buddypress 1.1.2, with latest wordpress mu, and latest of mysql and everything else.

1)Members cannot reply to each other when they receive a message.

2)Sitewide activity stop working when upgrade to 1.1.2 from 1.1.0

3)Password created through signup form, but a random password from wordpress mu was sent to a member’s email and this password will not work. Only the password that created by a user through signup form is working. This will confuse a new member about which password he or she should use.

    hi korban

I had worked on the same concept and came out with my own plugin.

You can download it using the following link

    http://www.thinkinginwordpress.com/download/bp-auto-activate-user-and-blog2.zip

Upload it to wp-content/plugins activate and it will remove the confirmation email.

It works with buddypress 1.1.x .Please note it will not work with buddypress 1.0.3

    Hope it helps.

    thanks

When I updated Buddypress, the custom avatars I had uploaded for groups disspeared, so I now have the can’t find image box with the red x in it.

When I go to my groups admin section and go to Avatar, there is no option there to upload a new image.

Confused as to what to do.

Hmmm I deleted Buddypress from plugins

But when trying to go to admin or anyother area of my site, I still get the blank page thing.

This is all i get in the source

    `

    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC “-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN”>

    <HTML><HEAD>

    <META content=”text/html; charset=utf-8″ http-equiv=Content-Type></HEAD>

    <BODY></BODY></HTML>

In WordPress WPMU I am using the Arlite theme.

I thought if I had delted Buddypress, everything would have just gone back to normal. Can’t understand why my whole site is not working.

Am trying to find away in phpmyadmin to reset the theme since no pages or admin areas are loading.

    Hmm.

Am having the same issue but it reports there was a problem saving the uploaded file – am wondering if it’s a permissions issue, or if it’s a fall-over from WordPress Media Manager where the flash uploader simply refuses to complete the operation for some host configurations, and the “No Flash Uploader” plugin is then needed.

Really would appreciate some input from the devs on this one.

I was just wanting to get a feel for if an instant messenger program would be a need for the community or not. I have an alpha product working on the site I admin:

http://vrual.com (have to login to see it)

Currently I have made it so that you have to visit an entirely different directory from the wordpress install (./vim/) and then have the messenger program pop up in the screen and then iframe the previous page ($_SERVER[‘referrer’]) as 100% w/h. This way the ajax stays in the screen and the user can browse without breaking the connection.

So far this system is not ready for the public at all, it is a lot of creating my own tables without any install script yet. But if any developer would like to have a look just shoot me an email or IM on vraul =)

Your best bet is to delete /plugins/buddypress/ and then visit yoursite.com/wp-admin/plugins.php. Then change the theme back to the WordPress default (Kubrick).

You can then reinstall BuddyPress and reactivate the BuddyPress theme. You won’t loose any of your BuddyPress database data doing this, though I recommend making a backup of your database with phpMyAdmin as a matter of good practice.

    Hi there,

I automatically updated to the latest Buddypress today.

All was working fine, but I noticed the new Status update feature was not working – like on the demo version here.

So I went to deactivate buddypress to re-activate it and now I can’t access anything. No WordPress MU 2.8.4a- just a blank page.

Is there a way for me to activate it again via phpmyadmin?

I eagerly look forward to hearing from someone.

The type of website I want to create is almost like wordpress webpages I created in the past except that I want the users to be able to send messages back and forth, have a more substantial profile, forums built in etc, so I am trying out buddypress. But what I am confused on is….

is there a way to force all users to view the Admin’s blog on going to the website? I don’t really want the users to create their own blogs per se.. I can’t seem to see a widget in the default list that is just like BLOG, I find that really weird. Also where do you change the menu items where its like

HOME BLOG MEMBERS GROUPS FORUMS BLOGS

I obviously want HOME to be the BLOG, and BLOGS not to exist because i would like users to have their profile and their ‘wall’ but not an entire BLOG. Make sense?

and after that question how do I set up the forums?
