Hi,
I’m trying to install BuddyPress and I’m getting a Fatal error: Out of memory.
How much memory does BuddyPress require?
My stats:
Which version of WordPress Mu are you running? 2.7.1
From where (provide link) did you download WPMU? BuddyPress.org

Did you open any of the BuddyPress files? No
Did you alter any of the BuddyPress files? No
Where can you find the names of the widgets you want listed for users by default so you can add them to the user layout?
Also is there a way of forcing all new users to have the same buddypress theme? EG: Shout? It seems really weird tome that the default mode of operation is that each new users account gets set to the wordpress default rather than the site default.
Could I just overwrite the wordpress default blog theme directory with the contents of the shout buddypress theme?

There is also Sam’s bbPress Live widget which you could use: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bbpress-live/
Hmmm. Well maybe that wouldn’t work. That widget is what bp uses to communicate with bbpress for group forums. Interesting.
Might be worth reading this post… there are several suggestions from customization to removal and even making it into an aggregator…

Hi, I firstly wanted to make such a integration, but then i found wordpress wiki plugin and it, both with role menagement plugin, makes possible to set some category as wiki-category, editable to all registered users, and to show revision list after article. What can give me mediawiki to install it?
I would create a custom page template

the page slug would be “login”
then the url would be http://www.yoursite.com/login
because it’s a custom page template AND in your themes directory, it’s “in the loop”

I created a login page that I use to have users log in before they can access certain content.
But this login page is located in the root directory (http://mysite/login) and not with the rest of the theme. I would move it to the theme directory, but then the URL is (http://mysite/wp-content/themes/p2/login.php) and I would like to have a simple url.
How can I get wordpress to load this page with the buddybar in the root directory? (I noticed a loader for index.php that seems to work similarly, but when I tried to copy it, got myself into trouble)

This excellent plugin allows members to log in with their email address and password. A username is no longer required.
How can I remove ‘username’ from the registration form?
I want to banish the concept of the username from my system entirely – I effin hate usernames, stupid anonymous usernames are the scourge of the internet, grrr!
On my network I want people to sign up with email address and full, real name, preferably with seperate fields for first and last name.
‘username’ is now a required field and “unrequiring” it probably messes up the system. Is there a way to autogenerate something behind the scenes? Generate it based on the real name?

After watching the video, I installed a drupal site onto a dev server with the plugin, and I have to say it’s absolutely fantastic. I don’t believe they missed anything with this plugin.
As we have the ‘framework’ for video for wordpress, I wonder how hard it would be to ‘adapt’ their code concept to wordpress. (Actually I’m kinda shocked that wordpress does not already have something better as wordpress community is huge)
when I change the theme to the church theme that I am using on wpmu it does not work!
BuddyPress themes are special cases of WordPress themes. They have additional functions and some unique code that make them work in BP. So, you cannot take any WP theme and substitute it for a BuddyPress theme.
If you wish to use something other than one of the Standard BP themes, then you need to pick an already available custom BP theme, customize a WP theme to make it work in BP, or design your own BP custom theme from scratch. You can search the BP forums for advice on customizing themes to work in BP.

I’ve installed WordPress MU and BuddyPress on a Windows2003 box running IIS. I need IIS because the rest of the site is built with asp.net 
I’ve got version 2.7.1 of wordpress and 1.0 of BuddyPress. I installed micronovae pro (http://www.micronovae.com/) to mimic mod_rewrite.
I’ve installed and activated the bphome theme. bp member is also installed.
The home page seems OK (http://www.travelcreators.co.uk/network/) but whenever I click on any links, such as the blog or members button, I get a 404 error.
Can you help me?
Why don’t you create widgetized areas within your theme? That is probably easier and you will have more control over the widgets.

Is there a plugin that can help me create a simple poll widget. I have looked around these and WPMU forums and there are several conflicting reviews.
I need it to run well with the buddypress home theme, no need to run on the member theme or user blogs.
I use WP-Polls on my wordpress blogs but I read on the developers forums that it has several issues with WPMU.
I have vbulletin completely ‘hooked’ to wordpressmu, so one registration/session/cookie etc. Meaning each system is ‘aware’ of each other, basically they are tied together.
Now since that part is done, wordpress knows that user ‘xyz’ on the wp db, is user ‘xyz’ on the vb database, it’s time to extend it.
What I would like to do is add ‘new’ posts on vbulletin to the activity stream for buddypress.
Can I ask what is the process for adding extra data to the stream?
Are there any ‘hooks’ for the stream, (I’m sure my terminology is all wrong, best guess)

I am almost done with the complete integration of vbulletin to buddypress/mu.
Now when a group is created, a corresponding vbulletin ‘forum’ is created just like in bbpress.
This is why I would like to bring the information into the activity stream and also the group wires.
I’ve even gone so far as to allow a ‘complete vb forum creation’ when creating a new blog. Users can fully manage ‘their own’ vbulletin forum for their own website blog.
Anyhow, any advice is appreciated so that I can pass onto the dev staff. (They know vb inside and out, but do not work with wp at all)

I can’t let anyone register. What is the difference between /wp-signup.php and /register?
I can’t get either to work. I did a clean install on another test domain into a new database and it won’t let me signup anyone either. I get blank screens back with no errors.

OK so i re-installed to use subdirectories. but now there is not members directory. So if i click a member name its a broken link.
I am installing buddypress via the wordpress-mu Plugin Browser/Installer.
Everything finishes correctly but can not create profiles.
I have installed wordpress-mu to use subdomains instead of directories.
Now the links on the page refer to sub-directories and not subdomains. So if i rollover a username link its shows http://myurl.com/members/username instead of username.myurl.com
if i manually type username.myurl.com the page shows correctly. This also goes for all links for example blogs goes to myurl.com/blogs instead of blog.myurl.com
in my config file vhosts is set to yes.
What else needs to be set to correct this.

There was an issue with new blog / user signup that I solved (looks like activation site wide and 2.7.X wpmu has a problem)
I used the hacked version of plug in commander

Hi, I’ve upgraded to wordpress 2.7.1 and successfully installed and activated bpdev plugins.
I’ve want to a add flickr gallery to each profile but I am clueless about how to do it, I see no flickr seccion in my profile or any other and in the control pannel I see nowhere I can put my flickr key.

So far from what I can see of the second release candidate of bbPress 1.0, it looks like integration has gotten better for BuddyPress and WordPress MU, but don’t expect a simple turn-key installation. There are simply too many configurations to not have to dip into the wp-config.php or bb-config.php files a little bit.
Integration of bbPress1.0 RC2 is essentially the same as the Alpha’s, other than there being a spot to enter the ID of the main WPMU blog. There’s also an extra variable to add to the config files to force the integration method, but I suspect that to be only temporary.
Once everything becomes 1.0, things will probably make more sense and come more into alignment.
