ParticipantActually I was trying to keep it simple and I don’t know what theme you are using.
Copy footer.php from the parent theme directory to your new child theme direcory and change that line to what you want.
If you are using bp-default then that line is https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.8.1/bp-themes/bp-default/footer.php#L15 – just replace the text between the paragraph tags with a simple text line
( or even the whole line as the <p> </p> tags arent’t critical but help with styling )

ParticipantThe main point of a child theme is that you can upgrade the parent theme and still keep your edits.
To create a child theme of bp default you need to create a new directory ie: /wp-content/themes/bp-child/
In that directory you need to create a style.css simple text file with a header at the top of the file ie:
/* Theme Name: A BP Child Thene Theme URI: http://buddypress.org Description: A Buddypress child theme. Version: 0.1 Author: Me Author URI: http://example.com Template: bp-default Tags: buddypress */The Template: bit is important. The /* and the */ ‘comment out’ what is between them so the browser doesn’t try to interpret as css.
After the header comes the style rules and properties such as were quoted above.
To follow through with an example from your other question using the bp-default theme.
First you need to copy footer.php from /wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/ into the /bp-child/ theme directory.
In that file should be the following line 15:
<p><?php printf( __( 'Proudly powered by <a href="%1$s">WordPress</a> and <a href="%2$s">BuddyPress</a>.', 'buddypress' ), 'http://wordpress.org', 'http://buddypress.org' ); ?></p>Replace that line with something like:
<p>© <?php echo date('Y'); ?><a href="<?php echo home_url( '/' ) ?>" title="<?php echo esc_attr( get_bloginfo( 'name', 'display' ) ); ?>" rel="home"> <?php bloginfo( 'name' ); ?></a>. </p>Put what you want between the paragraph tags ( <p> and </p> ) – it could just be simple text. Use a text editor not a word-processor…
Then preview the bp-child theme and the footer text should have been changed.
I would suggest backing up your files and database before attempting to edit files….

Participant@bluecatz Thats what I have been saying all along–its Crazy:
Willandmae said:
Whats Crazy about this problem is It Happens the first time you try to log on and without fail, it logs on with error and logs it as a bad login. But then login through the wordpress screen and then without fail you get logged in. Now this is the crazy part. Logout and then login again but using the sidebar through the theme and it works.
Now if your browser cleans up after itself when you close out and clears cookies and history. You will have to remember to go directly to the wordpress login first and it works again.
By the way Have you looked at my list of plugins and compared?

Participant@modemlooper I appreciate it and I deactivated my cache program after deleting the cache and it still does it. The cache plugin I use is the standard coming automatically with wordpress now WP Super Cache. I then cleared all from my computer before testing as well. I use a simple program that really cleans all history and everything out called CCleaner.
whats funny is I have a logon menu button that goes directly to the wordpress logon and it never fails. As well as once your logged in and don’t clear your cache and cookies on your computer. You can log out and then the sidebar login built into buddypress-default theme works.
Thanks again I gave it a try.

ModeratorThe easiest way would be to enable multi site and then use BuddyPress on a separate blog. Multi site uses same database.

ModeratorIt is either a plugin or a theme issue. Can you deactivate all plugins besides WordPress and BuddyPress and then if it is still there switch theme to twenty twelve.

ParticipantCan you get into the site with ftp or a file navigator/explorer in your web hosting control panel?
Navigate to /wp-content/plugins/bp-group-tinychat-pro-1.2.1/ then delete or rename the /bp-group-tinychat-pro-1.2.1/ folder.
This should cause WordPress to de-activate the plugin.

Have you tried disabling Show Avatars in WordPress Admin > Settings > Discussion? ( – the avatars section is lower down the page )You might need to customise your child theme’s style sheet. Using bp-default the following might be useful:
.activity-list .activity-content { margin-left: 25px; }I haven’t checked anywhere else…

Participantgetting a freelancer from the buddypress/wordpress job board or odesk to do this would cost little (my guess $50-65) as long as you know exactly what you want done

Participant@mercime, thank you for your help in trying to resolve this. I’m using WordPress 3.7.1 on a single site install with BuddyPress 1.8.1. I’m running WP in a root domain on a VPS. I’ve disabled all plugins except for BuddyPress. The first time I try to login via the sidebar it fails with the cookies error I referenced previously, and then prompts me to login via the center WP login panel. If I then try to log in there, or hit the back button and try again at the side panel, it logs in just fine.

Now I clean my computer a couple times a day with CCLeaner and rid of all cookies and everything. When I do this everything starts as before. When you test on yours could you make sure you clean out your cookies?
Thanks…

ParticipantHi there,
I know this issue was fixed for some people, but I still have this problem
I have BP 1.8.1 and WP 3.7.1I checked the status of the patch here:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/4573
and using this modification I was able to fix the problem on the activity time, but the problem on comment time not yet.
When I write a status update, after apply the patch the activity time render fine, but if I write something in the comment of the activity, the time say that the comment was 4 hours ago.The patch that I used, supposedly is already included in the latest version of BP, but it is not 🙁
Anyone know how can I apply any fix to the comments too?October 30, 2013 at 9:51 am #173601lenasterg
ParticipantNevermind, I use a walkaround for creating the plugin “BP Groups Suggestions”, based on the ‘BP Groups Suggest Widget’ (http://buddydev.com/plugins/bp-group-suggest/) which gave the idea for extending it to a full plugin.
You can download it from https://wordpress.org/plugins/bp-groups-suggestions/

ParticipantHi,
That helped!
Problem solved.I installed URL Rewrite Module and had to create a new blank web.config file in
the wordpress dir, because it wasn´t created when I installed wordpress. then I copied the code from https://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks#Permalinks_without_mod_rewrite in the web.config file. And that worked 😀Greetings,

ParticipantMine does the same thing. At the WP login, it states “ERROR: Cookies are blocked or not supported by your browser. You must enable cookies to use WordPress.” However, if I go back to the BuddyPress login and use the same username and password it then logs in just fine.

ModeratorThose emails are already sent by either WordPress or BuddyPress.
In BP, on your profile page there is a tab called ‘Settings’.
There you will find options to receive or not receive emails.WP gives you the option to send emails re new post comments.

ParticipantI am looking to hire a developer (project only) to help me with my site. I posted on the wordpress jobs link, but I’m needing somebody that is more familiar with buddypress and creating dynamic lists within a groups page, to be specific.
Is there a place I can post this to let the BP experts (Not just WP) know?
Thank you,
