Participant== Am I not able to find it because my WordPress is on .com instead of .org? ===
Correct. You cannot add plugins if your site is hosted by WordPress.com.
You can only do so in your own WordPress installation.
– Download WordPress https://wordpress.org/download/
– Install WordPress https://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress

MemberIf you’ve already set up WordPress, go to the dashboard. On the left side is a menu bar. There should be an item called Plugins.

ParticipantW3 Total Cache is developed with Dedicate hosting or VPS hosting on mind. That is not true. W3 Total Cache said, “Compatible with shared hosting, virtual private / dedicated servers and dedicated servers / clusters.”
With a Shared hosting, most of the advantage of W3 Total Cache are missed out.Can you elaborate what are missed out?
But since my site is under developingYou don’t have much traffic that is what shared hosting is for. Do you know how to pilot? There is a learning curve to optimizing your site.

ParticipantI strongly feel using this documentation you can achieve what you want.
https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/group-extension-api/And this should help you with manipulating navigation items in group , renaming them or removing them. (At midway of page)
http://themekraft.com/2011/02/customize-profile-and-group-menus-in-buddypress/And this for custom fields (Not sure how much this will help for groups)

MemberI would also like to sync the two profiles because the Members-Search Function only searches in the Table wp_bp_xprofile_data. The function “xprofile_sync_bp_profile” only inserts the $user->display_name from the “wp_users” into the default field “name” in the table “wp_bp_xprofile_data”. The user-nicename of the wp-profile could be the fullname or the login-name or only the firstname. This is not enough information for a good search result. It should also be searched for the real first, last name and login_name of the user.

MemberUsing dropbox doesn’t make any diffrences. Actually it made my site to load slower . Try to Use Google Libraries and WordPress Gzip Compression plugins. IT will improve your site’s performance.

KeymasterThis is a change in WordPress 3.1, I believe. You are best to ask for support and discussion on the wordpress.org forums.

ParticipantGlad you got it worked out!
Although, I’m pretty sure that if you remove the admin bar via ‘remove_action’ and remove the CSS for admin bar body, it would make the wordpress admin bar compatible, from my understanding the 2 bars were not “incompatible” as much as “clashing”
March 18, 2011 at 2:45 am #108127In reply to: Add wp_admin_bar to a BP theme
Virtuali
ParticipantWell thats just the standard action.
To replace the bp-adminbar, with the wordpress adminbar, you must remove the bp-admin bar first!

I’m still not completely comprehending what you’re trying to achieve.

ParticipantThanks, but I think your last post was in answer to the last poster’s question in this thread:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/show-bp-admin-bar-while-in-wp-admin-only-and-hide-it-in-the-rest-of-the-site/`remove_action( ‘admin_footer’, ‘bp_core_admin_bar’ );` effectively removes the adminbar from the backend, but that’s not what I’m trying to achieve.
I’m trying to replace the bp-adminbar with the WordPress adminbar in a Buddypress theme.March 18, 2011 at 12:14 am #108112In reply to: JobRoller + BuddyPress errors

Yeah, I had no idea buddypress wouldn’t connect and use old wordpress stuff.
I am trying to figure it out Boone Gorges plugin though.. cause that plugin runs almost instantly but still sin’t pulling over the old posts/comments.
Does his plugin requires “WordPress MU”
Thanks for your help, and at least I know why its not pulling in the old information

hozefasmile2007
ParticipantHi Guys I was also suffering with this avatar upload image cropping problem for the last 2 weeks, I had thought that this would be a problem due to using wordpress for multisite or may be a problem with new wordpress and buddypress integration but finally I found that this was due to a little plugin that I never thought can cause such issue.
This plugin name is “sliding readmore”.
As I removed this plugin all the problem goes away with image cropping.March 17, 2011 at 4:45 pm #108079In reply to: How to insert a backround image in a page?
@mercime
ParticipantYou should be asking that at https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting – log in with same username and password you used to get in this forum.
I suggest that when you post at WordPress forums, you should provide more specific information like Site URL or which WP theme used, etc.
Cheers.

ParticipantChange theme to bp-default and see if erratic behavior disappears.
If issue is resolved using bp-default, then you should check if you have upgraded to the latest Custom Community theme version https://wordpress.org/extend/themes/custom-community.
If theme upgrade doesn’t fix it, there is a forum for that theme at http://themekraft.com/groups/custom-community/forum

ParticipantIt means exactly what it says in error. Contact your webhost re: “The GD image library is not installed.”
If you are on your localhost, you would need to add/activate GD library. You have to resolve GD library addition or activation issue in whatever package you are using for your installation – xampp wamp mamp lamp etc.

ParticipantOk… so @brajesh was able to point be in the right direction on this…
The problem is that I was looking for a user ID of the person that sent the request that was trying to join the group… what I needed to do was SEARCH for my User ID in the wp-bp-notification table… this had the user’s id making the request listed as an ITEM not a userID (as the user ID was mine)…. once I deleted that it went away…
FYI: You can find User IDs in the tables themselves or you can use a plugin called REVEAL ID to find IDs in the WordPress back end…
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/reveal-ids-for-wp-admin-25/Thanks Brajesh!

ParticipantBuddypress emails are wired around wordpress emails.
Bluehost seems to be the worst when it comes to the emails, as taking very slow/not sending.
Try using this plugin: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/mail-from/
Good luck!
