Hello,
Please I’ m new to wordpress and buddypress.I’ m running wordpress 3.0.4 and buddypress 1.2.7.
After installing buddypress I realize the menu links at the frontend don’t work (“Oops! This link appears to be broken.” message). Please here’s the URL of the site:

I’ ve researched a while to find a solution before posting this one but I couldn’t find any.I found some solutions and followed the steps in relation to the.htaccess file, but it still does not work.I would be grateful for a solution.
Thanks in advance
Hello everyone –
I know there have been a couple of threads in the past about implementing a global or unified search – for which Brajesh from buddydev.com came up with an excellent solution. There are numerous plugins out there to enhance WordPress’ search – Relevanssi and such – but none of these plugins seem to extend to buddypress.
So my question is, would it be possible to enable the buddypress search to query words in phrases separately – like connecting the terms with “OR” rather than “AND” ? For example, a search for “Cats Attacking Dogs” would return all results for cats, all results for dogs, all results for attacking – rather than the entire phrase. Hopefully I didn’t make that more convoluted than it need to be. Thanks in advance!
UPDATE: After noodling around with a variety of plugins and trying to customize my own set up – Google Custom Search was far and away the easiest to deal with. Search-Engine by Scott Clark worked, but it was such a memory hog that it quickly exhausted the standard 64mb pretty quick. There was a tutorial put up here as a blog post a couple of years ago, but the links and such were all broken. Here’s a tut for those who want to explore this as way to replace the default buddypress search – http://digwp.com/2010/10/google-custom-search-in-wordpress/.
I’m creating a directory for a client using BuddyPress profiles. On my test site (http://makemeanexpert.com), I created a custom menu link called Network which takes you to the BP members page. The client would like to add a description of the directory above the members listing, but have it be easily editable on the backend (not hard coded into the page).
What I have in mind is to create a page in WordPress that’s not listed on the menus, where they enter the directory’s description. The content for that page would appear just above the members listing on the BP members. I see there’s a function called bp_before_directory_members_content, but there doesn’t seem to be any documentation about how to use it. Has anyone used that function or could give me a better way to accomplish this?
I stumbled across this plugin today http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/ttc-user-registration-bot-detector/
Anyhow, I have a n00b question for all you smart people out there regarding this plugin and BP.
Would it add anything to my install of BP? Will it even work with the BP reg page? I didn’t see any mention of BP but I would assume it does.
As a side note I’m planning on using it with the GenesisConnect plugin so I may as well ask @andrea_r if this plugin would be redundant because of GC’s built protection features?
Thanks in advance!
here is my current blog: http://www.mysportbox.com it is pretty customized. I have a lot vested in the brand.
I would like to have a page tab (to the right of the U’Rock tab) labeled “profiles” which would launch into buddypress.
Can this be done?
Hello All,
I have a buddypress sign up form setup using xprofile plugin for buddypress. I have done searching over buddypress.org also wordpress.org still found no results. I am surprised how anyone dint had this type of requirements yet.
I am using child theme to carry out registration process. I want to add a word/pdf document upload field to the registration form or to the edit part of buddypress profile. Which is not shown at registration.
Please tell me if i could do this manually of is there any plugin to do this.
Regards,
Sam.Hi,
I found several plugins for media and wanted to know what people recommend. I am looking for something that gives users and groups the ability to upload images, video and audio as well as embed (I want to both host and allow people to submit comment hosted elsewhere). It would be great if they could rate it. Stability is very important, too. I found:
BP Album +: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-album/
BuddyPress Media Component with KalturaCE Suppor: http://wpveda.com/buddypress-kaltura-media-component/
Several HTML5 audio/video plugins: http://wpmu.org/10-beautiful-html5-video-audio-players-for-wordpress/
BP Gallery: http://buddydev.com/plugins/bp-gallery/Thanks!

I have my settings in wordpress settings to where the reader can post on a page or post without a log-in, but it still defailts back to user must log-in to make a comment. I do not want this. Any help?
Thanks
