In reply to: Admin bar disappeared

I am having a simular issue. I am using the Jooc theme, wordpress 3.0.1 and Buddypress 1.2.5.2, my admin bar is not showing on the front page. It does seem to be showing in the admin panel. I have deactivated, and deleted bp, and I checked the functions file for the theme as well, and it has the same code as posted above.

Perhaps this could shed some light…

Not much documentation but perhaps a peek at the code might help. Or a little query directed at @jjj

    Have you tried my plugin?
    https://buddypress.org/community/groups/add-all-nav-links-to-bp-adminbar

Along with enabling or disabling the “Add WordPress pages” and “Add Buddypress components” features, you have complete control over the style of the adminbar in an easy-to-use UI. Just enter the colors you want where you want them, save, and you’re done. :-)

Yes, I suspect the group template only has the current group initialised when you are on a single group page. So, only has one group to loop over. The same as being on a single post page vs. a category page in standard WordPress. We had a similar issue with the activity loop.

Try passing the full set of parameters to the groups loop, rather than either a subset or none.

Let us know if that fixes it.

There’s also a snippet for putting the pages into a drop down menu instead of straight across the top..

Hi, I want to block certain domain names like hotmail.com from registering on my site. Is it possible in BuddyPress?
On wordpress they have this plugin called Ban Hammer which does the job perfectly but unfortunately it does not work with buddypress.

    Hi All,

Please don’t mock my lack of technical knowledge!

I’m a none technical user of WordPress and Buddypress, and am currently creating a new network, however there’s just one thing which I want to change, but I know its going to be within the code. I want to change the font and possibly the size of the site title (in the bottom left of the header by default) and the page title (in the top left of the content by default).

Could anybody please point out where to do this in the code?

I have got the site exactly how I want it, however I just want to change this, and it would be stupid to get a developer to do it!

    Thanks in advance,
    Adam

    Dear all,

I would like to set up a community blog as follows:

    – anyone may register and post to the main and only blog under certain categories
    – after posting, the post shall be approved by the moderator

    Here are my questions:

    – is it possible to do so with BP?
    – shall I install WordPress-MU? Or single WP will do? Once again, I need only one blog. I do not need visitors to set up their OWN blogs, they shall post in the one main blog.
    – what is the interface for posting for visitors? Standard WP admin panel? Or it can be intergrated in the blog design w/o any difficulties?

Any links to tutorials, explanations etc. are highly appreciated.

    Thank you very much!

    The link is here:

    HI!
I recently installed BuddyPress plugin in my wordpress project but I got this message
Warning: Missing argument 5 for bp_core_fetch_avatar_filter() in C:xampphtdocssouthparkwp-contentpluginsbuddypressbp-corebp-core-avatars.php on line 479.
What does this mean? And how can I solve it?

Try this tutorial to widgetize your home page. Then you can use any widget you want on it.

“the buddypress links show either as blue links in a tree on a white page”
Based on search in this site, there have been issues with the qTranslate plugin, Since the plugin also hooks onto the bp adminbar, it could have caused your links to appear without any styling. Did you follow the instruction to delete code line for qTranslate to play nice with BuddyPress? https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-qtranslate/

    Hello,

I’m using buddypres with WordPress multi-blogging

I’ve installed buddypress on a secondary blog (thanks to your help in http://buddypress.org/community/groups/creating-extending/forum/topic/buddypress-not-on-themainblog/?topic_page=2&num=15#post-69546 ) and I’ve managed to display the buddypress navigation bar on my main blog by adding wp_footer(); in my footer.

I’ve recently installed the plug-in “Followers” (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-followers/), it works perfectly on my buddypress section, but the link to the followers list is not available in the other blog’s navigation bar.

themainblog.com / my main blog (the follower link is not in the navigation bar)
blogwithbuddypres.themainblog.com / the blog with the buddypress’s function (the follower link is in the navigation bar)
blogname.themainblog.com / a blog from the network (the follower link is not in the navigation bar)

Did anyone of you had the same problem ?

    Thanks you for your help.

    best regards,

Is your WP single site or multisite? Test WP functions first before installing BuddyPress to isolate the problems you have in your install. Run Settings > Permalinks and set it to other than default. Deactivate BuddyPress and qTranslate. Now go change themes in WordPress site – is the theme layout showing as expected? Upload media in site. If you’ve gone multisite, upload media in subsite/blog also, are images showing up in posts with WP default theme (twentyten) on for main site and subsite? If answer to either is no, then you have to resolve those issues first before installing BuddyPress by going to https://wordpress.org/support/

    Hello.

I’m using WordPress 3.0.1, and I need someone to write a plugin for me.

    I’ll pay it with paypal.

But, when it ready i’ll share it from here.

    Plugin:
    1. It will connect blog categories to buddypress groups.

    For example;
    Blog Category Name: Linux
    Buddypress Group Name: Open Source

All Linux category posts will show Open Source Groups activity,

    2. It will add a new tab in group navigation.
For example: Home – Blog Posts – Forum – Members etc.

I used, Community Blogs plugin, but i didn’t understand how is it working.
I used External Group Blogs plugin, but it show posts after 60 minutes later. I want just in time. And, it shows posts another update in activity. The comments becoming different.

    Thanks..

    Hi there.

Im new to wordpress and buddypress as i recently rebuild my page after i had too many problems creating what i wanted with my drupal cms.
I installed wordpress 3.0.1 and BuddyPress 1.2.5.2. (I also use qTranslate, Askimet and WordPress Stats)

The installation seems to work. When change the theme to the default BuddyPress theme (in fact any BuddyPress theme) the buddypress links show either as blue links in a tree on a white page (or on a colorfull background depending on the them but also with the links under the footer in a tree).
I have a static front page with a different theme but i wont work neither if I deactivate it.

It seems like the css is not able to rearrange the content in the right way. But i don’t know how to change that.

    Thank you for your help.

This BP.org site is currently undergoing some Ninja renovations. Not quite sure why the links you gave are redirecting to different BuddyPress plugins in this site. I got Eventlite the first time then gPress the second time I clicked on the link. Might be because plugins are good to WP 2,9,2 but then so are some other plugins.tagged buddypress

EDIT- Thank you for your patience. Housekeeping is most probably ongoing.
All plugins listed in BP.org extend plugins are available in WordPress.org plugin repository

I’m running WordPress 3.0.1 (Multisite enabled) and BuddyPress 1.2.5.2 and I’m having difficulty with the My Blogs menu on the admin bar.

As I understand things the situation is as follows. If I add a user to one of the blog as a subscriber that blog is not added to the My Blogs list – which is fine. However if I then go back in and change the role of the user to Author or higher the blog still doesn’t appear. To make that blog appear in the My Blog menu I either need to remove the user and read him with the higher role or disable and then re-enable BuddyPress.

So my guess is that the data source for the admin bar is updated when you add a user (or restart BuddyPress) but not when you change the users role. I have tried looking through the code but never having looked at any of the WordPress code before I’m finding it hard to find the relevant parts. Can anyone help me with this?

Apologies if this has come up elsewhere I know similar problems have been discussed before but I couldn’t find an answer … or at least not one I understand.

    Thanks for the help.

    Hey,

Why is it that the ratio premium/free plugins is so much worse for Buddypress then it is for WordPress?
All the time when I look for some nice plugins I end up having to subscribe, become member and such to even test the plugin…

What do you people think, is this temporarily and is it just because Buddypress needs more time to grow before there is a big and healthy free plugin environment?

Ans also, doesn’t the whole discussion about GPL and themes that was going on some weeks ago also apply for plugins?
