@mercime
Participantbut I can’t get the “Create Group” button to show
@gebgem the page title is missing as well. Looking at the Sample Page of your site, there was no page title added to the theme’s page.php file at all.BuddyPress will provide another link/way for users to easily create a group/blog via user account menu in admin/toolbar in next version https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/7062 but the page title issue should be fixed by theme developer.

Participant@kkradel that is a sitewide notice created by the Super/Site Admin. There’s a JS conflict. To delete the message as Super/Site Admin: From your account at the admin toolbar, go to Messages > All Member Notices or from your profile page, go to Messages > Notices

By default new users are set to subscriber’s so why did you have to set it?
Is the profile fields you want for registration placed in the base profile which shows up automatically on registration? If you added those fields to a new field group which is secondary then it only shows after the user has activated and logged in to their account and go’s to edit their profile in this secondary field you may have created.May 9, 2013 at 7:30 am #163625@mercime
ParticipantI am using catalyst theme and I have added buddypress to it. I have also used BuddyPress Template Pack.
Not to rock the boat, but if you have BuddyPress 1.7+ activated in your site, you shouldn’t need to install/activate that BP Template Pack plugin anymore in most cases.
plugin or any modification that can insert the default user account in the sidebar and removes it from top bar while using my own theme?
I would create a child theme of the Catalyst theme and then copy over your catalyst theme’s sidebar.php into your child theme folder with the relevant login code from the BP Default theme’s sidebar.php. Activate the child theme.

– WordPress Theme Custom Community By ThemekraftVersion 1.15
– BuddyPress Version 2.3.2.
– WordPress Version 3.5.1Again, I’ve tried it with just the default buddy press theme, and disabled all plugins and still can’t create new user accounts via the registration page.

ParticipantHello megainfo, I deactivated all the plugins I used and created a new user account. It worked like a magic, so how can I figure out the plugin which is the culprit for all these?

Participant@Hugo, I am very sorry if I seem silly but I couldn’t help matters myself. Imagine a situation where you have people who loves your work, only to create an account, activate it and to login to see what you have created and they are bounced back. I am really sorry if I had offended anybody. Now this is what actually happens, when a user creates and activates an account, and he tries to login, the user will be redirected to wordpress login. There is no errors shown, meaning the username and the password is correct. There is no spaces used. And you are right, the user gets logged in after sometime. I hope I am making sense here? Please help me.

ParticipantHi
Thanks
I’d already tried that and nothing
Did it again so yo ucan see. The register page link form “create an account” is wrong, the page is http://retiredandkicking.com/index.php/register/ but it’s looking for http://retiredandkicking.com/register/
How do I correct this? Is the register page supposed to have content, as it seems to have none at all
Can I pass login details privately?

ParticipantHi All,
I’m having the same problem. I looked at Andy’s site and it looks like it is working now. I wonder how he got it resolved? I am trying to use the default registration page. I allow registration in wordpress’s Settings > General with the Suscriber role. I have the create account button displaying but it redirects to the homepage. I have not set up any redirects.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!

April 18, 2013 at 8:36 pm #162095@mercime
ParticipantI believe I understood that the BuddyBar was being deprecated.
@jcollier BuddyBar had already been deprecated since BuddyPress 1.6. For reference see related tickets, specifically #3661 and #3596 You can also check out bp-members-adminbar.php with bp-members-buddybar.php in current BP 1.7 version //edit – Visitors who are not logged in shouldn’t be able to see member’s my account options.Buddybar shown to all users, including a log-in/register link for new users
If you want BuddyBar back, you can create a bp-custom.php file, add following code, and upload to wp-content/plugins/ folder in server
`<?php
// Bring BuddyBar back
add_filter( ‘bp_use_wp_admin_bar’, ‘__return_false’ );
?>`April 13, 2013 at 1:47 pm #161535In reply to: No button for private messages

Do you have Private Messaging selected on the Components page under Settings -> BuddyPress ?
April 10, 2013 at 9:30 am #160912In reply to: BuddyPress registration without username
danbpfr
Participantyou asked for any clean solution for my members to register without using a username.
Registering is a WP process who need a username and a email. Those 2 information are provided by the user at his first visit when he decide to subscribe to your site, OK ?
Now you wonder how FB or Google can connect without username ? They use it ! But don’t show it to you, but fill in the username at your place during the login process, which is not the registering process, WP search the stored username and find the accordance between this name and the email provided by FB or Gg.
On the same maner, if you create with help of a plugin a WP account with your FB account, FB provide a username and a email. The username and the email you give on registering to FB. Again, this is made silently in the background.
These subscription tricks have only one target: simplifying user’s life. Don’t imagine because you don’t see the whole process, that some information are not needed. In our case, you don’t see the username, but it is still there.

ParticipantOk so I managed to find a backwards way of doing it because I needed to be able to do the same thing. Your going to need two plugins.
1. Your Preferred Role Management Plugin. I like Capacity Manager Enhanced
2. Buddypress xProfiles ACLSTEPS
1. Use your role manager to create some new roles. Name them what ever you want.
2. Go into the Users -> Profile Fields
3. Create a Field Group for your Restricted Items (not the primary one).
4. Go to the Settings -> xProfile ACL
5. Put your Field Group that you only want the Admin to be able to edit for the admin only.
6. Now this is important you need to modify the xProfile ACL php file (yes I know this makes it a hack, if xProfile ACL is updated you will lose this setting.)
6a. Go to line 240 of the buddypress-xprofiles-acl.php file. Comment out lines 240 – 249, the code you are commenting out is:`
function filter_xprofile_groups_with_acl() {
global $bp, $profile_template, $current_user;
get_currentuserinfo();
foreach($profile_template->groups as $key => $profile_group) {
if( ! in_array($profile_group->id, $this->user_allowed_xprofile_groups) ) {
unset($profile_template->groups[$key]);
}
}
}
`6b. Below the code you just commented out add:
` function filter_xprofile_groups_with_acl() {}`7. Save your changes to the buddypress-xprofiles-acl.php file.
8. Now when ever you need to modify the fields log in with your admin account navigate to the user profile in buddy press and select Edit Member Profile from the tool bar. You will see the fields from the private group. Users will see the fields but when they select edit they will not be displayed.
Hope this helps.

MemberI had the same problem as you. Not only is the ‘create an account’ link problematic but also the ‘lost password’ link takes you away from the Bootstrap modal. I felt it was like a juggling act to get everything working together so opted to use the standard BP login and registration pages.
Be good to hear if anyone has a solution to radleaf’s post above.

Participant@mercime,@Hugo,@bphelp,&@chouf1,
Thanks to you all for the help.
The code which you had posted removed the side bar perfectly.!
But a new issue has cropped up now!The left,Top and bottom margins of the registration form have been disappeared now. And therefore,the text in the left hand side of the form (Create an Account & Account details) starts from the border of the registration form.
Similarly, “complete sign up” button is touching the border of the form at the bottom.Right hand side of the form looks normal.
Any quick fix solution is available to rectify this?

ParticipantI could not get this text to post. Trying it here:
Hello All,
I have a very tough and challenging problem with the register page on the Primary site of my multisite BP install. Register works properly on subsites but not on the primary site. We are running WP 3.3.2 and BP 1.5.6 in Multisite.
It was working fine on the Primary site prior to the installation of Peter’s Login Redirect on Saturday March 30th. The plugin was removed but the problem remains.
Trying to find a BP expert that can help!
Here is the gist of it:
http://community.abeo.us/register page does NOT work.
Subsites, such as, http:test2.abeo.us DO work. The code is the same for both sites, register.php, in the BuddyPress Social Theme.There are two symptoms;
1) If users fill out form correctly, an account is created on the server but the user cannot login with their username and password and they are not logged in automatically as they should be with two plugins that accomplish this BP Disable Activation and BP Auto Login Using Activation Code. Again, this was working fine prior to the installation of Peter’s Login Redirect.
2) If users do not fill out the form correctly no warning messages are displayed for required fields.Hopefully someone in the community can help me resolve this.

ParticipantYou’ll need to give us a little more detail than you have. That SC shows a BP user account screen and that’s saying that this user has no groups that they are a member of. Have you any groups created? If you have groups created has this user joined any? Do your BP settings allow all users to create groups or just admins?
This looks to be a custom theme, have you tried bp-default theme ? Do you have a group create button on your groups directory?
