    I know in BBPress that you can use a shortcode to display a forum list on a page of your choosing….

    This allows you the flexibility to place a ‘header image’ or whatever you want above the Forum List on that page.

    Now, I’d like to do the same in BuddyPress — place a ‘header image’ or maybe even a message (for example: “welcome! Here are your groups”) above the group directory listing itself, on the page I’ve chosen to list all groups. Leaning towards a graphic rather than a message, but while I’m asking I may as well learn how to do either.

    The ‘header image’ of course doesn’t have to be a header image in the strictest sense. I just want something ‘nice’ up there that I can use; it’s lacking something in my template, and could really use a nice little image — a horizontal one — to sit above the Group Directory list.

    Is there any way to accomplish this….with a shortcode? Or, some other way — like developing a unique template just for the Group Directory list itself, which allows for the placement of stuff (an image or whatever text I want there)….to show right above the list?

    Thoughts….?

    Thanks in advance for any and all assistance. 🙂

    .S.: I’m using bbPress with BuddyPress….and I’m referring to the ability for the “updates” people make ~directly~ to the group front page — not updates they make in forums elsewhere that populate in the Activity Stream automatically.

    I think, I got the solution!

    You should post on the bbPress forums and not BuddyPress.
    https://bbpress.org/forums

    bbPress handles forums and BuddyPress handles the community aspect (profiles, groups, etc).

    When I go to APPEARANCE > CUSTOMIZE > HOMEPAGE SETTINGS and choose Sitewide Activity as the home page, it causes a redirect loop on the homepage. While I’m logged in as admin, I can see the Sitewide Activity page by clicking on the home page, but anyone who is logged out, gets a “too many redirects” error.

    When I change the settings to REGISTER as the home page, logged in members are redirected to the MEMBER page after logging in.

    I have tried adding a redirect plugin and that breaks the site. I would really like members to land on the Sitewide Activity feed once they log in.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi!
    Recently I’ve noticed that links with avatars in My activity Buddyboss wall display incorrectly. See the screenshot

    The issue with bp_get_activity_action() in \plugins\buddypress\bp-activity\bp-activity-template.php
    If the reason of the issue is hard to define – I’m agree to deny from avatars in the activity posts. i’ve tried to do this this way:

    <pre>
    /* instead this */
    //		return apply_filters_ref_array( 'bp_get_activity_action', array(
    //			$action,
    //			&$activities_template->activity,
    //			$r
    //		) );
    /* put this */
                    return $activities_template->activity->action;
    </pre>

    But I don’t know how I can arerride this function in my child-theme.
    Could you help me?

    Hi,
    The plugin works fine for me. Anyways, you can find all the bbpress shortcodes here: https://codex.bbpress.org/features/shortcodes/.

    For you [bbp-single-topic id=$topic_id] this should work.

    Thanks

    that plugin has several issues…unfortunately. one look at the reviews and i knew that was not a plugin i’d ever use.

    i decided to not try to upload pics in the activity stream afterall. i’m going to just go with the forums and am using GD image there; works well.

    my new issue: trying to figure out where the template/shortcode is in either bbPress or BuddyPress that creates a topic discussion page. the page where the actual topic discussion takes place…not merely the default forum page with all the topics listed there.

    if you know where i can find that shortcode/code that structures the topic page where the topic itself is discussed, please let me know…

    I can get the “activity id” by the this code:
    $activity_id = bp_get_activity_id();

    So, What can I get “post id (at BBPress)” by writing what?
    $bbp_post_id = ???;

    However, because I want to acquire from “BuddyPress” instead of “BBpress” acquisition, bbp_get_reply_id() is not good.

    I would like to write in “BuddyPress” template (such as entry.php) and get “post id (at BBPress)”.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

    It will need some custom work and you can take reference from https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/display-list-of-topics-under-specific-forum/

    Hey dear BuddyPress community,

    I’ve tried to find the solution on this for a long time, but I cannot find the answer: I’m using BuddyPress on a membership website to give users an additional feature of using the platform. The social BuddyPress aspect is not the main aspect. I have built a profile menu where users can access different things (like forums, learning content, and also the BuddyPress-area). My problem:

    BuddyPress is stylized differently than anything else. When I’m using bbPress for example, I have a shortcode that lets me put the forum overview within any page so I can style the page itself in the same way that all other pages are styled (for example using the same sidebar everywhere)…how do I do this with BuddyPress?

    My favourite solution would be this (or something that generates an equal result):

    Put up a page with a custom sidebar (the same like in all other pages), and putting the whole BuddyPress framework into the content area of the page.

    Can anyone provide a solution to that?

    Thanks a lot in advance, I’m looking forward to your suggestions.
    Dominik

    You can’t do it in BuddyPress. You need to do it in bbPress. And you’ll need to hire a developer to write some custom code.

    can you actually help or are you just responding to tell me to go elsewhere?

    Hi all.

    I want users to all be able to access ONE forum….with multiple topics.

    BUT ONLY be able to see the topics display to each user in that forum that they have been given permission to see — and nothing else.

    There is a ‘private groups’ plugin for bbpress, but it only allows people to subscribe to a private forum. Also, in BuddyPress it allows groups to have their own forum….BUT again — I want people to have their own TOPICS, not FORUMS…. :/

    Thoughts?

    P.S.: I’m using bbPress with BuddyPress….

    And when I mentioned (above) that an alternative solution could be using the activity stream to “allow for uploading pictures,” I’m referring to the ‘updates’ (comments) people make that are made ~directly~ on the group front page.

    So what I was trying to make happen was that group members would be able to include pictures in their direct updates to the group ‘wall’/front page.

    I’m not referring to updates that they make in forums elsewhere on the site that populate in the Activity Stream automatically. 🙂

    Hello.

    I am using membership plugin called Armember for a while and users login is equal to email adress. This causing a security problem with buddypress profiles now, because users plofiles urls is now containing email adress like: example.com/members/useremailgmailcom/ It will be much better to use for example user id un url instead of email.

    I found this topic on bbpress forum, but unfortunately solutions provided there doesте work for me.

    Please, help me to resolve this problem.

    I have both Buddypress and bbpress installed. bbpres is using local wordpress avatars that registered users uploaded even before bbpress was installed. I want Buddypress to do the same – use these local avatars instead of its own. I have found this code on bbpress codex and internets:

    add_filter('bp_core_fetch_avatar_no_grav', '__return_true');

    I added this code to bp-custom.php, but it`s seems like this code is not working anymore? I really need to make Buddypress to use local avatars just like bbpress do, please help.

    $BP_activity_id = bp_get_activity_id();

    And I want to get BBpress’s reply-id from BuddyPress’s activity-id.

    $BBP_reply_id = xxx;

    What Ishould I write to xxx?

    Hello, I’m using BuddyPress 3.1.0, bbPress 2.5.14 and the BuddyBoss theme 2.4.6 to create an online community/support forum site.

    I want to create a landing page and followed this guide by WPMUDEV but realized halfway through it is outdated! I couldn’t find any up-to-date forum threads, guides, or articles regarding this.

    I ran into trouble once I actually need to create my own register.php. I was able to locate the file in /wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/members/register.php, but I’m not sure how I can best edit it to fit within my custom landing page seen here. The login form is a widget, to be replaced with the registration form. I want to place the login form in the green upper-right corner.

    Can anyone point me to the right direction as to how I can have the registration form and login form show up? Any help would be appreciated!

    Hello, I’m using Buddypress 3.1.0, bbPress 2.5.14, and the Boss theme 2.4.6 to create an online network/forums website. The website is 7ctest2.site and the wordpress version is 4.9.8.

    Is it possible to merge the Read and Unread notifications into one page on /members/user/notifications/ ?

    How would I go about implementing this?

    I’m new to both Buddypress and bbPress and was handed down this website to complete. Any help or idea would be helpful. Thank you!
