In reply to: BP Mail Function screwing with Gravity Forms
danzigism
ParticipantHey there @Ionut – Unfortunately the From Name from any of my gravity forms still uses the WP Site Name. The moment I disable BuddyPress, the moment Gravity Forms starts working just fine.
Their mailer notification function is definitely overriding the “from” variable at some point in time.

@mercime
Participant@johnjf What I’m getting from you is that you just want the logged-in members to be able to publish “blog posts” only and not create nor publish in “blog sites” (requires multisite/network).
You can implement that via the regular WP way -> Setting > General > new users as Contributors (you’d have to approve and publish every post submitted) or as Authors (can publish post right away). Then they can add posts in backend and you just add default Recent Posts Widget to sidebar to show latest posts.
Or, you don’t have to change the Settings in wp-admin and just add a post form in the frontend of the site for logged-in users via plugin with DIY customization http://buddydev.com/plugins/bp-simple-front-end-post/ or via another plugin https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-user-frontend/

ParticipantIt’s really badly named — very confusing. Â You’re not the first person to not know that ‘send public message’ means post update on user wall.
On the bright side, by adapting Brajesh’s plugin for 1.6, you’ll have learnt a lot more about coding for BuddyPress

ParticipantPeter Anselmo’s plugin rewieved fo BP 1.5.6 + can be found here:http://lenasterg.wordpress.com/2012/04/17/buddypress-group-documents-for-bp-1-5-and-wp-3-3/
Works well on bp 1.6.1 and http://bp-fr.net
Note that bp-group-documents and buddypress-docs are two different plugins.

Participant@rogercoathup Done.
As for removing their plugin, if they break any in https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/about/guidelines/ then the plugin can be reported to plugins@wordpress.org

Participant@mercime – throwing their plugin out of the repository might be a good way of dealing with them!
It might be a good idea to unlink their link in this thread as well — take away their SEO juice — are you able to do this?

ParticipantGood spots @rogercoathup and @hnla
Tagged their forum posts “modlook” in WP forums. We could use that “modlook” tag here at BP forums and at bbPress forums 🙂
EDIT – WP moderators have deleted the two posts.

ParticipantYou don’t need to uninstall the plugins, you can just de-activate them (wp-admin will let you do that en masse).
You can then reactivate one at a time – their settings will have been saved in the DB.

ParticipantDo you think I should switch to BP default theme and uninstall every BP-related plugin, and test it that way? Then, if it works as expected, switch to the theme I want, and test it that way? Then add one plugin at a time and see if it is still broken?
How would you approach this?

ParticipantHere a feedback:
* I installed it successfully.
* To upload an avatar-suggestion, there are a few steps nessasary (click Add avatar, click medialibrary, select image, click “insert into post”, select “save settings”). I tried to add multiple images add once, but it fails (after clicking “save settings”, it only applies the last selected image).@imath Is there an easy way to add 60 avatar-suggestions?

Participant@savage_jane & @joe-saad you appear to be posting at many places, WP forums, bbPress forums with the exact same questions and responses yet switching roles, so I guess you are reps for this plugin ‘company’, you should perhaps not use help forums in this manner in order to promote a paid for premium plugin. Naturally if I’m wrong and you are not part of this company my apologies.

Participant@giannisff I would definitely consider that solution.
@drill your solutions works, only for the respective pages but what about the pages that are created on the fly .. for example when I tried to browse site_url/membsers/x/profile I get to see it.
Any idea about this issue?
Anyways thanks both of you for stopping by and replying 🙂

ParticipantWhen installing buddypress for multisite, do I install it sitewide in the network settings or do I install buddypress for only my current site? Does it make a difference or either way people will still be able to create a blog and it will show up on my main website?
