Participant@cspinillo looks like you don’t have BuddyPress activated anymore.
As to your issue, read how to make your Chameleon theme compatible with BP https://buddypress.org/community/groups/installing-buddypress/forum/topic/buddypress-compatibility-and-chameleon-theme-elegant-themes/

ParticipantFor buddypress If you are admin of site :
– you can delete or edit activities from wp-admin,
– you can remove the comments of members from pages (delete link)For groups , you can add moderators to mange the groups.
for blog, is same with admin or authors role, you can update.

meg@info
ParticipantHi @bojan85,
add this code to your functions.php file
function bp_admin_is_my_profile( $my_profile ){
global $bp;if( ( $bp->current_component == BP_MESSAGES_SLUG )
&& current_user_can(‘manage_options’) ) return true;
else return $my_profile;
}
add_filter(‘bp_is_my_profile’, ‘bp_admin_is_my_profile’, 1);but i think is not good idea to read the messages of members
, try to use anti spam plugins.October 17, 2012 at 10:54 pm #143604In reply to: [resolved] Cannot post new activity

Participant@djpaul pardon my ignorance but if i still get the error even when i am in bp-default and i have JS turned off, isn’t it not an ajax thing?
i’ll have one of my team members trace how the whole thing is failing though (that part is not my forte)

ModeratorThat is the full featured list. But there are extensible APIs that you can extend any of these core components. There are hundreds of plugins for BuddyPress.

ParticipantAGREE, this is very frustrating as most of us come here to search for help and only to find the Search function anything but helpful.
@modemlooper, thank you for the tip. I end up using Google’s search engine, but have completely forgotten to the site:buddypress.org search meta data.

Participanti find it strange that there isnt something that could be done, i mean the grop blog for instance works pretty much how i would like this to work, so how come no one seems to be doing this? i love wordpress and buddypress but for this prject i think i’ll have to find an alternative if there is one and i hate doing that.
what do you mean by a buddypress component?
October 17, 2012 at 5:53 pm #143589In reply to: Front End User Blog
modemlooper
ModeratorUsers can only have a blog if you use Multisite or add them to the blog BP is installed on. Gravity Forms allows users not added to a blog to add posts from the front end. You could then loop out the posts from each user as a blog post attaches id of submitter.
This is just one possible solution. You could also create a BuddyPress component.

KeymasterIt was built the way it was because of architectural reasons. It’s something we want to change, it’s just as simple as no-one’s done it yet.

Participant@billmc site wide forums use bbpress theres more info there but i found the process pretty strait forward personally for site wide forums and topics i think you’d want to use separate forums in the main forum list for your categories. check bbpress.org for more info on that stuff.
any group or site wide forum post should generate an activity entry.

ModeratorBuddypress is already mobile friendly as the default theme is responsive. It all depends on what you want – just a theme or extra functionality for mobile? You don’t need a mobile plugin for any WordPress or BuddyPress site to work on mobile. BuddyPress mobile is not just about working on mobile though that’s exploring mobile functionality too.

ParticipantI just had a look at the ticket but was unable to comment on it, so I will post my comment here instead.
The idea of using the ?p= links is not ideal as a redirect will have to be performed for each link, also for SEO it is far better to have the correct links on the page instead of links that rely on redirect.
My suggestion for posts activity items would be: instead of storing a URL / permalink for each posts activity, why not just store the post ID? – that way you can let the wordpress native function (post_permalink) generate the permalink and no matter how many times you change the permalink settings buddypress activity will instantly link to the correct URLs.

ParticipantWo! Thanks for the response @modemlooper
Does that qualify as a bug? I mean on the one hand you’re allowed to alter slugs very easily but on the other hand, that will generate immediate broken links in an otherwise very important component of buddypress, namely the activity feed.
In any case, I felt I bothered everyone enough, and the idea of creating a script is way beyond my capabilities, so what I did was revert the slug back to groups. I changed the language file as instructed and so the user sees the new name I chose to replace “groups” everywhere except for in the URL which is fine. Better that than to have 404 errors generated by the activity feed!!
Thanks so much for your help and feedback! You too @aces !

modemlooper
ModeratorThere is this plugin, however, it’s not for BP users even though it’s marked for BP usage. You can get an idea from it’s code what it would take to create a plugin for BP.

ParticipantReally? Damn. Thanks for the input though @modemlooper. Next question I suppose is how would I go about learning how to do something like that?
