@mercime
ParticipantPlease make sure that your WP installation has been set up properly – pretty-permalinks included – before installing BuddyPress. In this vein, please post your mod_rewrite issue at the proper forum https://wordpress.org/support/forum/localhost-installs

MemberI have no desire to install several pieces of software on my personal laptop. So no, I’d rather not install an xAMP stack on it if it can be avoided.

ParticipantIt’s really a bit too early to be bumping your post fabi also when you do that it sends the @mention email a further time. mentioning people to try and attract their direct attention is not considered the thing to do really. Paul, myself, and mercime all work and have to earn a living our time is limited and you must have patience someone will get around to your thread in due course.

ParticipantHello @djpaul
Thank you for the reply. I’ve solved that issue.
May I know is it possible to ‘reset’ the score for Achievements leaderboard? How to reset the # to 0? I was testing a few achievements on my side…
I tried to delete the achievement I’ve created, but the Leaderboard score still appeared

Please advice.
Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterI’m not aware of any plugins that do this for BuddyPress.

Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterThose are bbPress user roles. BuddyPress doesn’t use them. BuddyPress adds no roles or capabilities in the current version.

ParticipantGoogle of no help??!!
any of those pages will help you understand what an .htaccess file is and where you may find it located – I would suggest that actually unless you have a real desire to learn how to configure standalone web servers on osx you install a LAMP package from the likes of Xampp:
http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-macosx.html
Or MAMP as mercime has suggested/linked to.

Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterProfile syncing only controls the name field. You’d need to get a developer and build custom sync functionality.

MemberHow do I go about doing that? I’ve looked online and there are no clear guides on doing this under OSX Lion.
I’m not running MAMP, just the default apache under OSX installation with PHP and MySQL.

mod_rewrite must be enabled in your server https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/before-installing/#system-server

June 12, 2012 at 2:54 am #135688In reply to: [Resolved] Remove Comment under Activity Feed
@mercime
Participant@goviral Closed your other thread with basically the same questions.
1. To remove commenting (and comment button) in activity stream,
Just add this to your theme’s functions.php file
`// Do not allow commenting in activity stream
add_filter(‘bp_activity_can_comment’,’__return_false’);`2. is there any way I can change other buttons/icons through the child theme?
Simplest way is to use text-indent to the specific button and add the image background. For example, for the Activity Favorite button, you’d add something like this in your theme’s style.css file
`#activity-stream .activity-meta .fav {
background: #000 url(“images/myfavoriteimage.png”) 0 0 no-repeat;
text-indent: -9999px;
}`then change background color or image when you hover over the favorite link. Use Firefox add-on Firebug or use Chrome developer to identify selectors to change styles/values for in your stylesheet.

ParticipantBP requires pretty permalinks. Go to Settings > Permalinks and set permalink to other than what’s there on default.

ParticipantThank you @imath
1) your solution works partialy.
The float applied to the span brings the number on the same line as the text, but the span content is upper the normal baseline.I had to adjust with heigh and lineheigth. Here’s the whole css i applied to the span:
Now it’s OK !span.toto { float:left; margin: 3px 5px 3px 15px; height:15px; line-height:15px; background: #dd0000; -moz-border-radius: 3px; -webkit-border-radius: 3px; border-radius: 3px; color: #fff; font-weight: bold; padding: 2px 8px; }2) The whole admin menu is coded without ending li tags for each list element. Closing tag for li is not required. http://webdesign.about.com/od/htmltags/qt/optional-html-end-tags-when-to-include-them.htm

ModeratorHello @chouf1,
you can fix it by css :
#toto span{ float:left; margin:5px; }But at line 4 of your code don’t forget to close the li tag
..."_blank">Users</a> </LI>';June 11, 2012 at 8:24 pm #135679In reply to: buddypress text editor suggestions?

MemberYeah I tried it and was almost perfect for what I needed but I needed to limit the hierarchy so that only core groups could make sub groups instead of it being infinite.
I did post on there forums but no replies with no luck
I’m still learning WordPress and Buddypress and browsed the code but couldnt see how I would limit them. -
