In reply to: [Resolved] Where is the BP Group Documents Plugin?
@mercime
ParticipantDon’t know what’s up. But here’s a link https://github.com/messo/buddypress-group-documents
Note that it hasn’t been updated for a while. You might want to check out https://github.com/boonebgorges/buddypress-docs

ParticipantOK, I poked around and I did find the problem, although I’m not sure I really understand it. Maybe a javascript conflict somehow?
I also found a fix, but it involved editing the core files, so not really advisable. But anyway, it works for now, and I’ll put it here so others can find it if they encounter the same issue. I would love it if someone more knowledgable than me could see what happened and why and maybe a better firx.
My workaround was to edit the core files bp-blogs/bp-blogs-template.php, bp-groups/bp-groups-template.php, and bp-members/bp-members-template.php
Each of those defines the search form for the different areas, and in each of them there’s a little onblur and onfocus javascript to fill in the value for the search field (“search members” or “search groups” or whatever).
The search form is in each of those, you can find it just by doing a text search for onfocus. Then you want to get rid of the javascript and just have the search field be blank.
So you’re looking for:
`value=”” onfocus=”if (this.value == ”) {this.value = ”;}” onblur=”if (this.value == ”) {this.value = ”;}”`
and you just want to change that to
`value=””`
Not too elegant, and I realize that the next buddypress upgrade will break this and I’ll have to do it again, but it solves the problem for now. Still would be happy to hear other ideas!

ParticipantThis seems to be similar to the problem reported here https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/members-directory-entries-disappear-using-drop-down-sorter-and-next-page-buttons/
He was using an unusual theme, and never reported back on whether that was the problem. For me, that’s not it.

ParticipantSo you unchecked the forum configuration in BuddyPress, correct? And then you placed forum in the permalinks settings for all of WordPress? Or is this during the BuddyPress install?
I ended up getting rid of, or trying to anyways, site-wide forums. What if I want to use group forums – am I able to still do this?
I appreciate the help. I’ve been desperately searching for an answer for this for days.

MemberI had this same issue with buddypress+sitewide forums. I resolved by unchecking the box in forum configuration that added /forum/ prefix to permalinks. The setting recommends to be checked, but unchecked fixed my white pages issue.

ParticipantThanks for the quick response. I posted the ticket and tried to word it better here:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/4039
My solution for now is to either a) force users to login, b) moderate comments or c) install a plugin that sends an email to that address asking them to confirm it.
EDIT: I also posted an example comment here while I wasn’t logged in:
https://buddypress.org/2012/02/buddypress-1-5-4/comment-page-1/#comment-10176
If this gets approved, it’ll show up in my feed. Turns out, b) won’t work either. Even if comments are moderated and you approve a pending comment with an email that’s linked to an existing user, it’ll show up on that user’s feed still.

KeymasterBuddyPress is trying to be the best social platform available. We’re not about building databases of spammers.

Be assured, we feel your pain and have given/continue to give considerable thought to managing spam content in BuddyPress.

Can you create an enhancement ticket over at http://buddypress.trac.WordPress.org/? Thanks.

Member@ChrisClayton I’m still working on this

An issue I’ve noticed is that for some reason I cannot find, some activity buttons like add to favorites or comment are not working. For example, if I try to add an activity update to my favorites, it actually sends me to the URL http://mysite.com/activity/favorite/218/?_wpnonce=a067fd9559
I’ve checked and the URL is the exact same one that appears on other screens and the link works just fine (it applies some jQuery, I believe) but on this new page it takes me to that URL which is a 404.
Thank you again

ParticipantThanks for the reply!

So I did that… made the copy of the header and sidebar, and inserted those codes to the ends of them. Now it sort of scrunched everything inside of a box without the sidebar being on the right anymore… visit http://www.critterhub.com/forums/groups/ to see what I am talking about.
Did I do something wrong? Thanks!

ParticipantGadzooks my bad, forgot to paste “ at the very top of 16 template files. Corrected code above for your reference.
As for the white shadow in adminbar, you can remove the “text-shadow” line under “body” in your style.css file.

Getting this strange white drop shadow effect on the admin menu bar. How do I fix this?

Thank you.

ParticipantB. At the bottom of the same 16 files, replace:
`

with the following (except for registration/register.php):
`

with the following for registration/register.php:
`
jQuery(document).ready( function() {
if ( jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).length && !jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).hasClass(‘show’) )
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).toggle();
jQuery( ‘input#signup_with_blog’ ).click( function() {
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).fadeOut().toggle();
});

C. Save files. Upload 6 BP folders to your server wp-content/themes/aggregate

@mercime
ParticipantLooking over your theme, you will need to change 16 template files within the 6 BP folders transferred to your Aggregate theme folder in server during the compatibility process.
If you’ve changed any of the BP template files in your theme folder, replace all of them by deleting the 6 BP folders in server – /activity, /blogs, /forums, /groups, /members, and /registration – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility
Download the 6 clean BP folders to your computer hard drive. The changes we’ll be making are using the default layout (right sidebar) for the Aggregate theme.
A. At the top of each of those 16 template files I linked to above, replace

MemberWhen logged in on the left sidebar there are various links, such as activity, members, groups, and forums. When I click that forums link it goes to the forums directory page ex: site.com/forums. I would like that to go to the site-wide forum which is site.com/forums/forums/kudos-forum.
I have tried changing the forums slug in the bbpress settings to kudos, but than says page not found when I click the link in the nav bar.
you can look at the site (it is not finished) http://www.kudosbuzz.com
