In reply to: Fishbook Help
favtm
ParticipantHey folks, I’m lost here. I have Fishbook installed with BuddyPress, and the only time I can see the admin bar (whatever menu name you want to give it, the one with My Account, Dashboard & Notifications) only shows up when I scroll down.
preview: http://myfilmnetwork.com/sample-page/
username: mfn
password: futureCurrently, 0 plugins installed, I reinstalled WordPress, then BuddyPress then Fishbook, and the issue remains. I did the trick of moving the header.php file from the BP Default folder into the Fishbook folder (by the way the above file names are no longer correct since BP 1.5) but with or without the header file, the issue remains. I remember testing out BP several months ago, and I didn’t have this menu problem with Fishbook then. I vaguely remember having to install a plugin to customize the menu buttons, specifically for Fishbook, but I can no longer find that plugin.
Let me know your thoughts, thanks a lot.

Participant@Flora1234 Couldn’t you re-install your wordpress through http://yousite.com/wp-admin/update-core.php ??
If that’s what you want then you can just click on the re-install link. Also you won’t loss your plugin, but i do suggest you backup your database just in case.September 25, 2011 at 6:52 pm #121077In reply to: BP Admin Bar in 1.5 is unchanged…

ParticipantI’ve noticed this on my WP Multisite when I post something to both the main blog along with posting in one of the subdomain blogs. I assumed that Buddypress was posting twice into the activity stream because it was in actuality seeing the post twice.

ParticipantI would so much rather get dirty with code and create something wonderful than use something out of the box! I’m surprised more people don’t want to do this!
Yes, thank for the direction to that plugin. Usually I don’t like to use plugins when I can code, but I may just go for that one!
I did try and copy and paste the widget code into the buddybar
Of course I got a fatal error, but it’s good to be reassured that I was moving in the right direction! So thanks for that – it just means I have to focus a little more and do some code editing!I was hoping that someone had done it before and could just pass along the edited code … wishful thinking!

KeymasterIn BP 1.5, you need these pages.
However, you can easily exclude pages from the main nav with a plugin like:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/exclude-pages/—
To customize the BuddyBar, unfortunately you’ll need to get your hands dirty with code:
https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/modifying-the-buddypress-admin-bar/The code for widgets can be found in:
/plugins/buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-widgets.phpYou’ll need to extrapolate some of that code when building your custom entries in the BuddyBar.
Hope this is a good enough starting point!

ParticipantIt may be caused by one of the plugins you have installed. remove all the cache. if still does not work then move all the plugins except the buddypress to a backup folder and try bringing back one plugin after another.

KeymasterI may have stumbled upon the problem. It appears only to be happening on the non-root-blog. Follow https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/3622#comment:3 for details.

KeymasterFollowing up on @frenx4u, is your theme a child theme of bp-default, or did you adapt it for BP use with the BuddyPress Template Pack? If the latter, you will probably have to do what frenx4u suggests.

ModeratorFacebook copies everyone. They copied the status update from Twitter and their timeline and new lists are a copy of Google+. The original Facebook was a stolen idea so it’s no surprise they are continuing to do so.

ParticipantIn another post of yours, you said that you have such a problem with the profile tab also.
It seems that your theme is lacking some required buddypress components or some are not working.Solution:
copy all the required components from the “plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/” to your current theme.September 25, 2011 at 4:31 pm #121048In reply to: (RESOLVED) BP 1.5 User profile settings broken

Participantif the problem is only with the profile settings tab, then copy the profile.php and profile folder from the location:
“plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/members/single/”
to the following location:
“themes/your-current-theme/members/single/”This will correct the problem

MemberIn future if anyone gets this issue, It was an issue with AJAX, I had to add this to my functions
require(‘ajax.php’);
Change the bit inside the inverted commas to the _inc/ajax.php if that is where it is

ParticipantActually many of the BP-plugins are not “passed” with the latest version of BP 1.5.
I actually dont know why but its true that if you have such “failed” or “bad” plugins installed (even though not activated), they simply cause a blank page or page-not-found.
It happened to me the same blank page when i had BP-ajax-chat with the latest BP 1.5
The best solution is to MOVE out all the BP-plugins (except the BuddyPress) to some backup folder from the plugin folder and test with all the BP-plugins one after one.

MemberCorrection. Buddypress uses a slug of “forums” and bbPress defaults to an Archive Slug of “forums” causing a potential conflict between the two. Oddly, the conflict manifests itself in a mystery sidebar being created. An incredibly strange event, to say the least.

KeymasterI disagree. You noticed it, right? bbPress even displays a warning that it may conflict with BuddyPress.
That aside, it’s the first version of BuddyPress that works with bbPress 2.0, which itself is a brand new plugin. Integration will only get smoother in the future.

KeymasterThis is not BuddyPress’ problem. Are you using S2 Member or registered-users-only-2 plugins? It’s one of those that you need to configure.

MemberI fixed it.
You have a bug. Buddypress uses the word “forums” but so does bbPress. You get a conflict in the bbPress settings (something no-one would ever notice). I changed the name and saved and voila! No more sidebar.
