The plugin @Pisanojm suggested might work if we can add the custom profile loop fields to it.

Yes this is exactly what I want to accomplish to a T. I am just as surprised as you, @jvoss, that this functionality is not standard or that someone has still not created a plugin to simply export all user profile data to a .csv or .xls? Have you found a solution yet?

Hm… also finding out that the post MUST have some text added to it or else BP will spit an error: There was an error when replying to that topic.

That’s weird. I’m having a similar issue where I can create a post and add images to it, but I can’t add images to the replies within that post. My site is only a month old and I haven’t even started to tick off some of the plugins I installed. Maybe I should start by deactivating them one by one and seeing if any of them are causing conflicts.

You don’t need a dedicated server they are expensive to run a good VPS will work fine and is so close to being a dedicated srver anyway and you won’t notice the difference but you will compared to shared hosting.

As for tools not aware of any other than browser extensions such as httpFox or simply reading server logs to determine where page loading issues lie

@hnla thank you for your respond , I thought that I will be finally forced to do that with all my plugins , I also thought that somewhere should exists some tool which is able to realize which plugin should do that , or if is already known fact that for example I have noticed that most of google maps plugins are calling google website even when no map is currently on the page , and I think that it causes bigger server load , or if somebody knows that it is better to do not use for example “followers plugin” because it is getting website slower (it was example) , I hoped somebody should say how they are experiencing their website script speed with their plugins .
@Andrea_r I am on Bluehost for 5 ys. and it is true that all my scripts seems to run slower , is it much more bigger difference to go for dedicated server ? I was thinking about dedicated server , but my website is not running yet , I have no earnings from that , hoping I will in near future , but before I didn’t want to spend a too much money .

Now something that may be againts (well not really cause it will be GPL) the rules is how would I go about striping out all the bp_ and ‘buddypress’ in this “clone” and replacing them with say bw and BLACKANDWHITE.

And thanks for the advice and tips

Has everyone suddenly deserted BuddyPress for another platform i’m not aware of? The documentation is very very very “light” here, and if no one pitches in anymore this plugin is going to die off…

I figured something out so here’s the code in case someone wants to achieve the same thing:

` // Check to see if you are currently displaying a member profile page.
// Replace xProfile_field with the profile field name.
// Display value of profile field

    `

    Thanks,
    C.

@DJPaul @pcwriter thanks for the input guys.

Deleting a member through the WP dashboard most certainly DOESN’T delete any of their BP entries.

Their username is deleted from the member’s list and their avatar etc goes, but from what I see all of their forum posts remain, without a username and a random avatar associated with the posts.

Is this a bug then Paul? Anything I need to do to file it?

Thanks for your advise. I am not a techie guy but I could able to realize what you have said!
I understand that the paypal donate button should be visible in a group page. What my requirements are, it should be amended only by group admins such that they can update their paypal email ids to get donations. In this buddypress.org website, the groups have a link called Donate which is what I am searching for. I knew it’s not an easy or too difficult for any techie to achieve this functionality. I am expecting a built-in plugin. If not, is there any one who could help me out here?
    Thanks in advance.

Where are you calling it? from my desk, calling loudly towards the monitor but it doesn’t work.

Can’t be removing it before it’s been called can it? calling it in functions.php child theme and cycled through various priorities from your ’11’ down and up as it’s simply a remove_action() I expected it to work without issue, what am I missing then about functions.php loading order? However I prefer the approach to de-registering rather than leaving registered but simply not adding.

In reply to: Avatar Upload Issues

I don’t know if this is where I need to be posting this. i’m having two issues with the avatar page in registration.

    1. when I upload and crop an avatar, it doesn’t “take”; I end up with the default (mystery man) avatar. But I can re-upload and crop via MyProfile>ChangeAvatar, and the avatar then is saved. Not sure, after skimming all posts in this discussion, how to deal with this.

    2. more importantly to me, from a user standpoint, is the lack of direction from the avatar page. When first arriving, I’m told “we’ve fetched an avatar for your new account…” but there’s no means of actually accepting that avatar. My only options are “Choose File” and “Upload Image”. As a user, I am FORCED to upload an image (which, from #1, is then lost anyway). If I do upload an image, I am then returned to the same avatar page with the default (mystery man) avatar and the same two options (Choose File and Upload Image).

Some help establishing a simple “accept this avatar” button would be appreciated.

I’m using most current BuddyPress 1.2.8 with WP3.1.2.

    Thanks

BP is a plugin that creates its own metadata and db tables to store that data. So, deleting a user via the WP backend simply removes the user from being associated with your site. But it does not delete BP metadata associated with that same user in the BP part of things.

For all user metadata to be deleted from BP tables, you must delete the user via the “Delete [username]” link in the “Admin Options” menu that appears in the adminbar when visiting the user’s profile. I just deleted a test user from my sandbox and watched as all activity items disappeared.

I havent run into this problem as of yet. How ever I will keep a look out. Currently – Like I said All I did was take the entire default theme, place its contents into a folder named after my new theme, changed ALOT of things – still trying to get rid of things like ‘buddypress’ and bp_ with out it breaking – and uploaded it to my site, the default theme is still there – it has not been moved, changed, deleted – just copied. the new theme is what I am currently using (which sits in my core wordpress theme directory). So I dont think anything will break in terms of buddyPress or WordPress

based on this information is there still a chance of breakage? even with a buddypress upgrade?

If you do it in widgets, you could use something like widget_logic() and then check for something like `if(bp_is_group_home())`

These type of template tags can be found in /bp-core/bp-core-templatetags.php so you can narrow it down as you need :)

@rsib2000 Could this jquery conflict only show up in certain OS’s? I’m having no problems cropping or updating my avatar (Win 7, Chrome 11.0.696.68/IE8/FF4.0.1), but folks with OSX (they’ve tried it with FF, Chrome, and Safari) can’t. From what I know of js, this shouldn’t be an issue. Any insights?
