ParticipantThere’s a plugin available that stops the registration emails and auto-activates accounts available at BuddyDev.com but it’s a premium plugin (site membership = $30/3 months).

ParticipantProblem:
“* Note: The s2Member plugin has control over four options on this page.
Dashboard Blog = 1 / Main Site, Default Role = subscriber, Allow Open Registration = none, and Add New Users = 1.
In your Dashboard ( on the Main Site ), see: s2Member -> Multisite ( Config ).”Set s2Member -> Multisite(config) -> Multisite Registration ( Main Site Configuration ) -> Yes allow open registration

MemberThanks for the suggestion but yep, have those both functioning correctly. It is just the links for viewing the topic (every other link works). Does installing it in a directory past the root have anything to do with it? I don’t get why, but I am not at the root with this, am at a folder past the root called /forum.. which also makes the link structure confusing because it says forum/forums for when you are on forum pages but I don’t mind that, am more just wanting to get it to work. Its strange because I was hoping a clean install of everything would get everything working simply so I still feel like it must be a simple solution.

MemberWell, I must agree with some guys here, that it really should register users out of the box.
Solution confirmed:
Mail From plugin allows to send the email to the user.The next small issue is that gmail catches that email as spam…

Participant@JBo796 WP/BP versions? Have you changed theme to bp-default, deactivated all plugins except BuddyPress, cleared cache, create a test user account and then check if BP log in works?

MemberI am having a similar issue with the buddypress login. It will redirect users to the home page after logging in, but will not actually log them in. They are also not receiving an email to activate their account. Any suggestions?

MemberThanks @pcwriter! (and @mariochampion!)
That piece of code solved my issue! It has removed the “notifications” subnav from the “My Account” adminbar menu too.

Edit: It seems to only remove the “Notifications” subnav in the “My Account” adminbar menu when I’m looking at the …/members/admin/settings/ page

ParticipantTo remove the notifications subnav item, add the following snippet to your functions.php file:
`function remove_notifications_subnav(){
global $bp;
if ( $bp->current_component == $bp->settings->slug ) {
bp_core_remove_subnav_item($bp->settings->slug, ‘notifications’);
}
}
add_action( ‘wp’, ‘remove_notifications_subnav’, 2 );`This is a simple function taken from this post by @mariochampion

MemberThanks for your quick reply!
This worked perfectly to remove the ‘Notifications’ link in the admin bar. However, I’d like to be able to remove the ‘Notifications’ tab where the member edits their profile and settings.
This is a better screen shot: http://jordynnmackenzie.com/koperscastle/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/screenshot_bpissue2_feb142011.jpg
I want to hide the tab that is marked in red.February 14, 2011 at 10:38 pm #105422racin36er
Participantboth are the newest versions available. WP is 3.0.5 and BP is 1.2.7 (latest addition i could find). through the course of my troubleshooting I have indeed removed all plugins just BP enabled. theme is “Simple WP Community Theme 1.6”, however I have also tried with just the standalone BP theme included, BuddyPress Default 1.2.7. I have also completely removed BP and completed a fresh install twice – still the same problem.
