Participant@parufito add code to your active theme’s functions.php file. If your theme doesn’t have one, create functions.php and add the code between “, save and upload to your active theme.

ParticipantWould using some javascript to fill the value of a hidden field name signup_blog_path do the trick?
Or should I just remove the bp_core_signup function and replace it with my own?
Im also trying to fight spam and a recent change to my signup form has increased the number of spam signups. Is there a good solution for helping ensure a human is signing up to buddypress? Im also trying to evaluate whether the vulnerability is from buddypress or my theme. How could I tell?

Member@sciencebox.net, I’d still prefer to give this plugin the benefit of doubt. The developer has a good reputation here, if it stretches into more excuses of ‘one bug, new BP release, different licence…’ and so on though, I’d gladly help out with any solution you might have. PM me.

MemberI’ve verified it is related to the default Buddypress theme. I switched to a different BP-compatible theme, and I’m able to load the WP register page.

@mercime
Participant#1. I see that you’ve installed WP 3.1 RC3. Unless you’re developing and/or interesting in debugging, you should install stable version of WP 3.0.4 which is what you’ll get in download here https://wordpress.org/download/. I recommend reinstall from scratch – clean database.
#2. Re Gallery plugin you installed – PhotoSmash Gallery plugin. I haven’t used the plugin and do not know whether it’s compatible with BuddyPress in terms of allowing users to upload media without going to the backend/dashboard i.e. uploading images in posts. There are free and paid Gallery plugins which are compatible with BuddyPress.
BP Album +: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-album/
BuddyPress Media Component with KalturaCE Suppor: http://wpveda.com/buddypress-kaltura-media-component/
BP Gallery (paid): http://buddydev.com/plugins/bp-gallery/#3. How young are the kids you’re expecting to post in your site? In relation to that, won’t you need parental permission for kids to enter your site? Different laws for different states/countries.
#4. I suggest changing your admin username and password. Anyone can come in and mess around in your site – though I appreciate the pass since I saw right away what WP version you’re using and Gallery plugin you installed

Go to
Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > uncheck “Show Friendly HTTP error messages”
Then then group creation works fine.January 29, 2011 at 6:51 pm #104194In reply to: Frontend menu links in Buddypress not working

MemberHi All, please wake up
I do not want to say this out loud.. but please.. for very obvious reasons .. no code is gong to appear.So..I would suggest we stop hanging on for something that is not going to come.. (I am not waiting to be proved wrong) and start developing a solution that serves the community. We can start small.. If we start integrating conditional filter functions into the ‘site wide’ posts that would be a start.
This is the only post I am making on this. Fill in the blanks. Please PM me if your a developer and are interested in working through this problem.

ParticipantHi mate,
I worked this out in the end.If you go into your buddypress file on your ftp, then go into the Bp forums file, you will see something called bp-forums-templatetags.php.
You are looking for references like these:
‘ function bp_get_the_topic_admin_links( $args = ” ) {
global $bp, $forum_template;$defaults = array(
‘seperator’ => ‘|’
);$r = wp_parse_args( $args, $defaults );
extract( $r, EXTR_SKIP );$links[] = ‘‘ . __( ‘Edit Topic’, ‘buddypress’ ) . ‘‘;
if ( $bp->is_item_admin || $bp->is_item_mod || is_super_admin() ) {‘
Look at the last line of that code.
To only allow a admin to see the edit / delete links delete the other permissions as appropriate.
Hope that helps!

KeymasterI can’t get into your blog posts, which means you’ve got a bigger rewrite problem. Revert to the twentyten theme, disable BuddyPress and then fix the rewrite permalinks; best place to ask for / research common problems with WordPress is at https://wordpress.org/support/

Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterBP-Default is only distributed within the main BuddyPress plugin, which lives at https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress/. You will need BuddyPress for BP-Default to work.

I also had trouble figuring out how to get the admin bar to display but eventually just installed this: http://wpmu.org/new-sliding-ajax-login-panel-plugin-for-buddypress/

MemberI’m looking for this functionality as well.
@thealchemist it does work. The admin /dashboard settings can be ignored – it adds a menu link (“Example”) to the member’s page where you can send the High Five to another member.
I’m not a coder, but I will look into the example and try to adapt it.
There seems to be one error with the notifications though (says: bp-example-core.php on line 645).

Participanti want to add on to this one as well, how can you get the page to show regardless of which component your currently viewing?
like
`www.website.com/mypage/` or `www.website.com/members/mypage` ?

InactiveWell, it should work. What’s the exact code you were using?
Also, it’s worth noting that the `$bp` global behaves a bit differently when on a member page. Take this for example:
https://buddypress.org/community/members/username/settings/`$bp->current_component` wouldn’t be members, as you might expect, but settings. In that case you could check for `$bp->displayed_user->id`.
