sorry @denisjanis, I didn’t see your reply. Look like you figured out overwriting the files with 1.2.41 works.

@Johnjamesjacoby, you’re right, I’m using a child theme. The default buddypress theme works fine.

I have the bp-follower plugin installed and using buddypress 1.25 breaks it. The menu items are still there but any notifications in the top menu bar getting clicked results in the redirect to homepage problem. It doesn’t happen with the default buddypress theme.

with buddypress 1.25 and my child theme, I can view domain.com/members/ no problem but trying anything after that wont, domain.com/members/andy/ wont work or domain.com/members/andy/followers

I tried adding a die(‘some message’) in the child themes /members/single/activity.php file but it didn’t have an effect, I tried in various other files and still couldn’t get it to die with my message showing so maybe it’s a redirect or rewrite rule that has changed in 1.25 that isn’t compatible with a command in the child theme?

I will continue to use 1.241 for now but it would be nice to get to the bottom of it.

@r-a-y Not sure what you did r-a-y but it’s done the trick. I can confirm it works on a WP single install and BP 1.2.5 with BP Followers enabled. The previous symptoms have gone away! Thanks again!

copy the pot file from BP
    rename it .po
edit it with a text editor
save it in the text editor
open it in poedit and save it
upload the .mo file per instructions here:
    https://codex.buddypress.org/how-to-guides/customizing-labels-messages-and-urls/
create a file titled bp-custom.php and add the code as instructed in the above link
upload the bp-custom.php file to your WP plugins folder
    done

    PS
you should never have to open the .mo file

ctrl + f in most text editors will allow you to search.

Make sure you follow the instructions here:
    https://codex.buddypress.org/how-to-guides/customizing-labels-messages-and-urls/

“….For those of you using a text editor, although you can search and replace to make changes, make sure that you are not editing msgid entries. Your custom text goes into the lines labeled msgstr only. For each customization you’ll need to enter your customized text between the quotes on the msgstr line….”

@Windhamdavid – yes – I’ve seen scholarpress and installed it.

OK – this is my progress. I can now get the WP ID and password recognized and logged into Moodle. The challenge now is the loop of “There are required fields in this form marked” because email and City are blank. When I update those two fields, the error remains that the two fields need updating .. LOL.

Oh – so close – yet – so far ;)

    check your language-files at
    ……/plugins / buddypress / bp-languages

There should be a .pot file which you open with a software named “POEDIT”. Just Google for this software and download it for free.
Then change the wording to whatever you want.
Then you save the customized file with two different format-extensions (.po and .mo) and upload both of those files to your server (into the same folder where the .pot file is).

I attempted to install the W3TC plugin again today and I was suddenly getting the memory error again. I spent several hours discussing the issue with my server support rep and he was finally able to fix the issue! He never divulged exactly what he did to fix the problem, but I really didn’t care much anyways because the problem was obviously on their end and it was not the fault of the plugin. So I finally have W3TC up and running on my site!

    WOO-HOO!!! :)

Now to figure out how to configure it properly…

Nice easy way to do it via .htaccess.
This can even allow you to have specific site testers also who can use the site.

@nuprn1 Strange but it’s still there. I have copied the code directly from your site by clicking on the clipboard icon so it should be perfect?

Can you not replicate the issue or does it all work fine your end? Thanks!

@nuprn1 I’ll check. It appears before the name of every forum. I’ll try repasting it!

@nuprn1 when using the standalone widget it works but before each forum name is a black diamond with a question mark in it? Is it an unrecognised character? Any ideas? It isn’t there when I use the forum index plugin but I only need the widget.
    Thanks!

@r-a-y Thanks so much! Your usernames plugin is absolutely integral to my site so if one has to go it can’t be yours! Would love to be able to use both so really do appreciate your work! Thanks again! :)

@r-a-y Ahh right I’m using a single install WP 3.0 with BP 1.2.5 and the latest versions of BP follow and usernames only.
Keep me posted but the scenario above is definately the cause. Not sure if it’s your’s or the BP follow plugin that needs changing though. Let me know how you get on and thanks again!

Thanks for looking into this, @rossagrant.
However, I’m still not able to duplicate this. I’ll try this on a fresh install of single WP in a few hours.

I’m currently using a multisite install on WP 3.0.

@r-a-y that is 100% the issue here. Just logged on as a regular user, followed someone and then the identifiers all reverted to that users name who I was following.

@r-a-y AHA!!! If I stop following anyone then it remedies itself too. If I follow someone then the identifier displays the name of the last person I followed. Can you try it?

It’s just like a facebook badge that you can put on other sites. I use this plugin and it actually works pretty well. It would be great to see it’s development continue.

@r-a-y how very bizarre. It goes away when i deactivate BP Follow. Think it might only be happening on admin’s account as at the minute my site isn’t live and admin is the only user who is following people.

None of the other members are following anyone, they are only being followed. Will test and report back.

    @r-a-y
Hahaha, GOT IT! It’s the BP Follow plugin. Only happens when it’s active and only when I’m logged in as admin. Do you have it active on your install?

Thanks for the extra info. Still can’t duplicate it though.

I’ll sift through any plugins or code snippets I might be using on top and see if I can duplicate it.

    [EDIT]
Looking into your current steps. Will report back.

    [EDIT #2]
@rossagrant – Can’t duplicate this. Sorry! Are you using any caching plugins?
