Participant@r-a-y sorry to bombard you with messages.
To recreate this what I have to do is log in as another user and then go into the members directory. I click on a few members and click on the ? to view the identifier on a few profiles.
I then log out. When I log back in as admin I can go to the members page and do the same as the above but the second mention of the identifier in the box after clicking on the ? displays the username of the person I was previously logged in as.
Can you try to duplicate it?

Participant@r-a-y Just to let you know that I am using the other bit of code you supplied to show ONLY usernames even on a profile page. Not sure if that plays a part. The identifiers are fine when I log in as a user but it’s just as admin when they are wrong.
Can anyone else duplicate this?

Participant@r-a-y yeah it’s no big deal. Only admin can see that so it’s not a worry. I’m still getting the wrong identifier when logged in as admin.
It’s odd as sometimes it displays the correct one for someone but then keeps that username for the rest. I’ll deactivate other plugins and see what happens. Will keep you posted!June 30, 2010 at 10:05 pm #83697In reply to: Blue @ link lists incorrect name.

Oooh just noticed by the way when you are on a member’s profile page as admin it is their display name that is displayed in the admin options in the tool bar at the top of the page.
Not sure if anyone has pointed this out before but thought you would want to know.
Cheers r-a-y!June 30, 2010 at 10:01 pm #83694r-a-y
KeymasterA badge is so other users can use it on external websites.
It’s basically a self-promotion tool for their BP profile.Screenshots can be found here:

Participant@r-a-y This is a bit of a mystery r-a-y!
Just updated to 0.57 and it looks like the fix works for regular members.
For some bizarre reason when I login as admin though the first profile I look at is correct with the correct identifier name but then everyone I look at after that is displaying the identifier as the same as the original one.Really bizarre.
Could you try it and see if you get the same thing. It is only happening on my admin account from what i can tell so far.
Thanks.June 30, 2010 at 9:52 pm #83691techguy
ParticipantThat link doesn’t seem to be working. How similar is this to the Achievements plugin that @PJGibbs is working on? I heard a little birdie tell me that he’s almost ready to release a new version.

Participant@desininja
Simple enough. Create a child theme: https://codex.buddypress.org/how-to-guides/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/ Override the header.php and in the new header.php file, remove the search section.June 30, 2010 at 9:34 pm #83686In reply to: bp-forum attachment error in BP 1.2.5

ParticipantOK. I looked at line 9 of forum-attachments-for-buddypress-bp-functions.php
$results = $wpdb->query( “SELECT * FROM `bb-attachments`” );
Made a change to the last ` … and now the error is gone. Maybe it was just the resaving of the file … dunno

ParticipantWhilst I am getting new sites on-line, I often make the root folder, (public_html), password protected via cpanel.
I call the folder “Site Closed for Development”, so visitors get a pop-up with that text on it, asking for user name and password that only I have, although I can give it to anyone needing to view and approve the site
Crude, but very effective.

Keymaster@LPH2005 – It looks like the plugin is trying to create the table. I don’t think it should be doing that every time you load. I will have a closer look when I get a chance and see if I can reproduce.

ParticipantInteresting: I jsut noticed that if I go to the user dashboard, there is amuch more detailed profile, with may fields, this updates and is correctly working. the buddypress user profile is the one throwing the error / redirect. It also only has 1 field “Name”
Any thoughts?

KeymasterThe version number is at 0.57.
Plugin checks are done every 12 hours (I believe). You can always do a manual overwrite.

Keymaster@denisjanis If you need to revert you should just be able to download the old version from trac.buddypress.org and replace the files.
But, it would be awesome if we could try and figure out what’s causing it. Looks like you have a custom child theme, so it might be a plugin conflict or something.

ParticipantYou can’t. It’s a design decision by Andy Peatling/Automattic not to support firstname and lastname, because it would offend international users. And most of the BP users community love anonymous usernames, because they use Buddypress primarily as an old-fashioned forum. You’ll have to custom code something. Good luck!
