What do the permissions need to be?
I’d like to set some threshold of activity on my BuddyPress site after which users would automatically be upgraded to Author privileges. Is there some combination of plugins and settings that could do that? Or do I have to monitor all users and do it manually?
I don’t exactly need fake accounts, but the idea is this:
We have products which each have a unique ID (imagine something like 001,002,002). We want the user to go to their blank profile and fill in the information themself when they visit oursite.com/001. So we want to integrate the unique IDs with their BuddyPress profiles. Hence the blank profiles and random URLs
I’ll check it out. In the future do not open more than one support request for the same issue. If somebody hasn’t responded to you first post after 24 hours then post a reply to the original post and it will move back to the top of the forum.

Hi, How to disable user to post blog post, as well as hide the ‘Dashboard” at the top of the nav bar. I installed buddypress in a single site and don’t want user to access to the Dashboard besides the admin. Even by setting the user’s role as member, they still can write a post and pass to admin to review. I don’t want this, I need the member totally stay out of the dashboard.
Is this achievable?
Script installers are plagued with problems, I would avoid it if you can.
I just noticed a similar problem: buddypress and child theme (no multisite), and when I upgraded to 1.5 my language customizations in bp-languages/buddypress-my_site.po stopped displaying.
I had define( ‘BPLANG’, ‘my_site’ ); set in plugins/bp-custom.php, but I found I also had to set
define(‘WPLANG’, ‘my_site’); in the wp-config.php file
In buddypress 1.2.8 just setting the language in bp-custom.php had been sufficient. Hope this helps someone else with the same problem.

Hi. I’m new to it all, just got WordPress working, and now I have a second domain for another install of WordPress that I hope to be a BuddyPress site. I read somewhere (can’t recall where) that I should be installing and configuring WordPress manually if I am going to add BuddyPress, and not using my host’s automated WordrPress installer script. Not something I’m completely comfortable with (the script did it correctly for WordPress install on my other blog). Is this the case? Or does experience say it doesn’t matter (using softaculous script).

WP 3.2.1. I’m holding off on WP 3.3 until a maintenance release of BuddyPress is released. BP is on 1.5.1.
Not on the BP-default theme. Using Custom Community Pro by ThemeKraft. Everything else works fine.
We host with Orcsweb and it’s a standalone server (not shared).
Sorry if this is the wrong place for this. I updated functions.php using the file given in https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/3849 but it hasn’t fixed the issue on page editing screens. I first tried pasting the code in manually, then I tried uploading the provided file found on the ticket. Am I missing something?

There’s a way to avoid the password regeneration when activate a user?
Im using the “User Activation Keys” to allow admin to activate the user.
When the user is activated the password he puts in the buddypress form its regenerate in wp-active.php script, and i want to avoid this

There’s something wrong with my child theme.
Already using WP 3.3, Buddypress 1.5.2, with the deafault theme and I’ve just created the child theme at /wpcontent/themes/bpdusk/ with the style.css where there are minor changes and working.
Now I added the header.php at same folder need to change title tag and returns “Sorry, that file cannot be edited.”
I’m missing something and don’t know what, any help?
The same had happen with previous version of WP and Buddypress.

Every time someone does something to cause a notification to happen such as commenting or sending a message an error occurs but still shows the notification, this is the error when I send a private message.

Looking at your website, I found another (and suiting my purposes in a better way) action called something like xprofile_profile_field_data_updated or something like that. According to your website and the BuddyPress code, I should receive the field_id and the value, which I think means that the id of the field that has been changed, plus the value, will be sent to my function. However, adding my function to that hook with add_action (like add_action(‘xprofile_profile_field_data_updated’, array(‘Naam’, ‘test’), 10, 2)), and then doing a print_r when logged in with admin gives me a 1 as $field_id, and ‘admin’ as $value.
How does this work? Isn’t it supposed to give me, say, the field ID of zip_code and the new value?

It’s all the latest updates. I run my live site with w3TC, have disabled cacheing for logged in users, but still having this problem.
My localhost test site has W3TC disabled, and it’s no problems. I guess I’ll have togo through all settings one by one until i find out what’s causing this.

Ok, this is weird….
I believe this has to do with “Page Cache” settings.
I disabled Cache home page (now, I can loign/logout no probs)
Selected “Don’t cache pages for logged in users”
Now, as a test, I visited a few of my pages, log out, no probs. Stay logged out.
Now, if I visit a page, say “About”, if I login on that page, I can logout, visit the homepage, I’m logged out, but if I visit that page again, it shows me as logged in. When I try to logout of “About”, it send me to the:
http://mywebsite.com/wp-login.php?action=logout&redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fmywebsite.com&_wpnonce=bb1shsjskdd (nonce verify page)
