    Hi Boones

I have tried you beta version, but i still have the same problem. Also i have tried deactivating your plugin completely and then tried to just insert ul li or ol tags into the multi-line text-area then saving and these still do not show???

Does buddypress strip certain tags from xprofiles. i really need to get this problem solved its quite essential for the site we are producing.

Bp-tiny-mce would be prefer for our needs as it simple allows for the tags we would need.

    Any other suggestion Boones???

@scotm – You have control of the template, of course you can remove the “Name” field! ;)

@r-a-y Using the technique above, preferred, can you also remove individual items such as the required ‘Name’ for instance? I see no reason why this field is displayed when it is provided above adjacent to the user avatar. Or am I hearing that omission must be done by manipulating the profile loop?

@DJPaul @scotm – I believe @sbrajesh did a plugin to hide admin stuff… let me see if I can find it:

@milleja46 – You’re trying to do an external bbPress install, is that what you want? Did you want to use the internal forums built-in with BuddyPress?

And also, disable that bbpress-admin plugin.

@scotm – Copy /bp-themes/bp-default/members/single/profile/profile-loop.php and modify to your heart’s content!

You can either delete the profile loop and input the information one by one using the technique above, or omit an item by manipulating the profile loop.

What kind of errors? The error itself may help :)

@r-a-y After doing this, how do you remove the field from also displaying below?

@DJPaul Any activity that the Admin carries out in my opinion should be hidden. Starting a Group, a forum topic, etc. In my case I am creating a number of groups for members to join and I’d like to hide all of that activity.

@scotm what are you doing on your BP site with the admin user to generate activity which you don’t want in the activity stream?

@nuprn1 did you do a plugin to hide the admin account from the members directory, or was that someone else?

Just wanted to post my solution to this issue, in case anyone else needs it.

I’m using my own theme with buddypress, which means I had to tweak the buddypress files to match my theme’s HTML structure. I used the BP Compatibility plugin to help with this, but the following file needed restructured, which wasn’t listed in the plugin:

    Browse to wp-content/themes/YOUR THEME/members/single/activity/permalink.php

Make it match the structure of your theme’s index.php file.

    Hope this helps someone!

Still curious about this one. Can we hide the Admin throughout BuddyPress activity sitewide?

Do you have any textareas on the edit profile screen, where the tinymce box appears? (I think it’d be called a multi-line text box on Dashboard > BuddyPress > Profile Field Setup.) Can you verify that it’s happening on xprofiles?

Also, you might try the beta version I linked to in this thread: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/third-party-components-plugins/forum/topic/tinymce-for-buddypress-works-for-12-as-well/

    hi Mika
As Jeff says above, you have done everything correctly.

In buddypress forums are associated with groups. To enable forum for a group, go to any group->admin->settings and enable forum for the group.
You don’t need to do anything with forum setup, as forum is already setup correctly. Just go and enable it for groups.

@r-a-y sorry for the incorrect reference on wmpu.org
Good point. Most of those concepts I’m comfortable with.

    @stwc
    a) Good idea to have a localhost setup! That might work well if users know how to set it up. I can do that this weekend.
    b) I’ll check that out. I’ve noticed a lot of learning is just trial and error and it’s an extremely well organized and well written plugin. Some sites hide their files so others can’t see it, but if available, it is fun to see how other sites customize their site.
    c) Plugins on a localhost would be fast and easy to add/drop/modify too.
    d) I’ve been extremely impressed with the feedback in the forums. Most people who post clear questions/topics are able to get answers within an hour or a day or two which is a major plus.

I guess I’m in the same spot. I can modify my themes a bit, move stuff around, but I’m not comfortable with the PHP or programming aspect of the site. Having a testbp site of your own is a great low-risk learning tool and a lot of fun.

Thank you both. The forums have a wealth of information.

    @suprmario-

The screenshots that you linked to are normal. You mention that you are “getting a blank page … when trying to set up the forum.” Where is this blank page?

BuddyPress uses an internal install of bbPress. It allows you to add forums to groups. It does not create a sitewide forum. To see the forum in a given group, the “Enable discussion forums” checkbox must be checked in each group’s admin panel.
