I know I should have done that. Thanks for the guidance. Another question regarding the same. If I download the bp-default and then overwrite, wouldn’t I have any conflicts with the new version. Please advise. I shall start working on the child theme soon.

ParticipantHi MrMraz, I installed the old plugin since a few weeks and I haven’t had the occation to see how it works, simply because it is not obvious straight away that this is more of a BP component, such as Groups and Forums.
I scratched my head off trying understand HOW to create a link (and I am not the only one https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/is-there-a-buddypress-plugin-that-can). To me it wasn’t clear that you need to manually create a link to the Links directory or something like that, wich mean you need a place in your navigation to put “Links”, along with Members, Forums, Groups (wplace that I don’t have on my site).
Anyway, I got two basic problems (with 0.3.2). I already got a page on my site called “links”. I’ve changed the buddypress-links.php file, line 24:
from
define( ‘BP_LINKS_SLUG’, ‘links’ );
to
define( ‘BP_LINKS_SLUG’, ‘members-links’ );
which I find more appropriate for my site. But I noticed the warning message:At this time, it is not recommended that you try to override this!
So, what am I to do?
Another problem is that when I try to create a link i got the error:
Warning: require_once(single/forms/details.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in …(mypath)/wp-content/themes/(mytheme)/bp-links-default/create.php on line 22
I’ve checked the file and that line was not coded properly:
require_once ‘single/forms/details.php’;
instead of: require_once (‘single/forms/details.php’);
Did it work for everybody else, that way?
Otherwise, I am going to test 0.4, since I see that there is a feature to “Create link directly from user profile and group pages”.
I’ll let you know.

Moderatortsk tsk. use a child theme.
Download the bp-default folder. Upgrade. Then overwrite the updated bp-default folder with the one you downloaded. You should really move all your changes to a child theme so you dont have to do this in the future.

KeymasterPerhaps not the optimal solutions, but:
– https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/forum-attachments-for-buddypress/ allows users to attach files to forum posts, including pictures (which will then display inline).
– https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-tinymce/ *should* work to give basic bold/italic/link stuff for forum posts. I haven’t done a very good job keeping this plugin up with the latest BP developments, so please test in a development environment first.

ParticipantIn IE8 at work nothing displays, just a “Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage”
I changed it to the default buddypress theme and it displayed now, but it get this at the top of the screen:
Warning: call_user_func_array() [function.call-user-func-array]: First argument is expected to be a valid callback, ‘bp_album_screen_home’ was given in /home/me/public_html/me/wp-includes/plugin.php on line 414
1) Linux
2) At home Mac (Firefox, Opera, Safari), at work Windows XP (Chrome, Firefox, IE8)
3) Same error as above.
4) Single WordPress
5) Do you have any other plugins running? What are they? Does it still crash when you disable them? Not at home to try.
6) Can you please post a copy of your wp error log file. Located in the /wp-admin/er-logs/ directory. I’ll look into this when I get home

Keymaster@kriski – If you want to add users directly to groups (skipping invitations), try https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-group-management/. It’s not great for adding in bulk yet, but I plan to add checkboxes in the next version that’ll make it easier.
@Erich73 – Good call on the group creation issue. I think the answer is just to turn off the message for the group creation process. I’m about to check in version 0.5.2, which makes this correction. Email invitation can only be done from the normal Send Invites screen, so the confusion shouldn’t happen. Not sure about your email problem – has your friend checked the spam folder? I’m using the same wp_mail function that the rest of the BP functions use.
@roydeanjr – Very strange about the first errors – almost makes it seem like the plugin was loading before Buddypress was. If it starts happening again, please let me know, and give me as much info about your system setup as you can so I can try to reproduce it. And thanks for the kind compliments

ParticipantIt actually seems like the Invite-Anyone plugin is able to accommodate almost any type of invitation possibility. Good work. I have always thought that if we are going to woo people away from fb then we will have to have a way to invite and manage invites within buddypress.
Thank you for this plugin.

ParticipantIn this thread, I figured out how to make the default front page of the site be the Forums listing. Sadly, though, since doing that (with the method I outlined at the bottom of the first page), the forum index sunb-plugin is failing (silently).
my plugin looks for the forums component and will execute only on that page
remove this statement
if ( bp_forum_extras_forumsdirectory_component() ) {in the plugin setup globals function.Is there any way to get an RSS feed for this page:
to just to generate a latest all public topic rss feed?

InactiveHi Dwenaus
I saw in an earlier post someone asked about extending your plugin to the comments on ‘posts’. You mentioned that it would be reinventing the wheel a little :o)
but….
I am totally sold on your Karma approach to help our community self moderate, and was wondering what’s involved in extending it to cover posts, and what would it take to convince you to extend it :o)
Thanks!
Warren
