    I’m not sure what plugin you used, or how it cost you $20.

    The problem with code edits is that they’ll be overwritten when you update.

    I use Theme My Login. It doesn’t cost a penny, and also makes your login/register pages look like your site instead of the generic WordPress login page. And you can control activation, etc.

    There is also a premium plugin (you can sign-up for Buddydev.com for $30 and get access to lots of great Buddypress plugins and themes)

    Very, very strange. 644 is the standard. Never seen this. Let me know if you figure it out – I doubt it’s BP’s fault (we don’t do any chmodding!!) but nothing’s impossible.

    (The more I think about it, the more I think that something funky must be happening with your server, especially if an installation that *was* working is now *not* working.)

    This is a really peculiar error. I’ve never seen require() fail because of a permissions error before.

    When you check the detailed directory listing for buddypress/bp-core, do you see anything unusual?

    On a WP 3.2.1 MultiSite (install from hell, Boone, this is the one that needed the upload dirs assigned manually ;) )

    I deleted the old buddypress folder and tossed on the new one to this error. Happens on 1.5 b1 AND b2 on this site with no plugins (yes, I turned ’em all off)

    Went to the test site I run on the same server, which WAS running 1.5 b1 just fine, just to double check, and got this:

    I rolled back the SOB site to 1.2.9 and it’s fine, rolled my test to 1.5 b1 and it’s okay.

    Also check out BP Media (aka BP Album). It is super advanced, and has all that stuff.

    @pryse Multi-user blogs aren’t activated unless you active them. Either way, BP is still an awesome social networking script capable of much more then merely “social networking”.

    well, I think I will really back to my phobia of plugins! this plugin just ripped me of 20 $ of google adwords advertising my website, and it caused any user who tried to sign up with creating blog in registration to tell them please check your activation e-mail! (theopposite of what it should do!) and this time it’s not sending e-mails at all even after long time because the plugin did it’s job at this side only!

    you can see I said that for a reason…so back to where I was…

    anybody know how to change this without a plugin? it should be a basic feature like in phpbb or coppermine to choose weather to activate your users by mail or immediately let them log in…
    last hope, perhaps @boonebgorges , @johnjamesjacoby can help about that?

    @intermike Just overwrite the files in the plugins/buddypress folder with the new ones! Though it’s far easier if your dev environment is on an svn checkout.

    I tried adding it to my functions file is my theme (using suffusion w/ the suffusion buddypress plugin) and it still didn’t work. is there any special place in the file I should be adding it in? I am using a child theme as well, should I put my functions.php file into the child theme? I don’t think that would make much of a difference in this case would it?

    Im using custom community theme, i dont want a blog network i want a social network so buddy press needs to rethink their set up on social net not blogs.

    Ok but whats the best for photos and videos, for my members i need plugins thats gonna let members
    have photos videos etc. The buddypress forum seems to bee gearded towards gruop forum not members, and how do i delete the basic blog that is part of word press and just use blog in buddy press, and as far as i can see i dont see any blog in buddypress. and you say multi sites for blogs i dont understand.

    Buddypress includes forums and blogs. But you have to run multisite for blogs.

    There are plugins for video, photos, etc.

    “Ok im using buddy press to start a social network, only thing im confused about is photos, videos, and forums and blogs for my members. What i want to know is this already in buddypress or do i have to add plugins, for each or one plugin that adds all these features to my site.     For WP and BP it simply allows users to enter their name and email to get 1 entry into a contest. Additionally, the user can get extra entries by liking your contest on facebook and sharing it on twitter.

    If you have Cube Points installed, you can set a point value for the contest (Ex: 1000). Users can use their points to enter the contest and it deducts from Cube Points.

    @enderandrew the messages are being sent after two or three hours now, seems that what happens when you were crazy enough to be a member of [god-help-me] GoDaddy! :)

    @andrea_r the reason I have plugins phobia is when I find plugin like this that was last edited a year ago :) however I came over my phobia and installed this plugin, it worked as supposed, but get the user back to the home without giving any message saying successful registration ( the auto login after registration doesn’t work, perhaps cause plugin wasn’t updated, ) so you have any idea how to make this redirect to custom page I will create to say” you have successfully became a member of our holy website, without even touching your e-mail ) lol sorry for this funny side, I’m just happy today :)
