In reply to: Integration amongst multiple social sites
zageek
ParticipantWhat I am actually looking at is having a way (regardless of using Open ID or or) to have members who sign up to one buddypress site I own, automatically become members of other sites I want to set up.
Then different social networks could aggregate together. Sort of like a buddypress multisite. In otherwords what wordpress mu is to wordpress, I am looking for something that will allow me to host several social networks under one container and you automatically have access to the others.
Kind of like Ning, but without Ning, because I could set everything up on Ning, but I don’t like my data being owned by a third party.
If we could develop a on containter for buddypress multisites and then a way to link those containers together and provide openID integration a lot of bases could be covered. What do you guys say? If you catch what I mean.

ParticipantThanks MrMaz. I got it now … working really well. Minor suggestion: Maybe the widget title could be customizable? Depending on the site this could be presented in many different ways.

Jeff Sayre
ParticipantIf under “BuddyPress > Component Setup” you do not see a “Friends” section, then you must have an incomplete BuddyPress install. Would you please go to your site and verify that you have bp-friends.php and a directory (folder) called bp-friends installed under /buddypress/.

ParticipantHi,
Just installed WPMU + Buddypress on my HSphere box. I’m getting the following error when I try to activate buddypress links:
Plugin could not be activated: fatal error
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘;’, expecting ‘(‘ in /home/hsphere/local/home/planchristmas/planchristmas.com/wp-content/plugins/buddypress-links/bp-links.php on line 488
Any pointers for a newbie would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

ParticipantBP Links is totally separate from any of the WordPress links functionality. Members can add links from their profile page. There is a Links menu item directly under the Groups menu item.

KeymasterIs anyone interested in writing a how-to post for the main BuddyPress.org blog on this subject? It would be nice to hear it from someone who has discovered this setting.

ParticipantAmazing work MrMaz I’ve downloaded and wanted to check it out, but having a few problems. I think I might not fully understand what to do next once its installed. When I go to BP Links in admin it says no links found? I”ve added a couple of links to the traditional Links section in the admin, but thats not working. I’ve also added the widget to my homepage (like your hockey site) and get nothing. I think my Links section is working correctly, but again I have the same issue of how to add links. Appreciate any advice + thanks again for amazing plugin. My sites here: http://footiemate.com

ParticipantI encountered the same issue. Marked the problem down to thickbox.js which comes bundled with wordpress.
I’m afraid but i don’t have a solution for this annoying problem, but i wrote a trac ticket that you can find here:

Participant@hardseatsleeper
Have you enabled bbPress in WPMU’s backend as Site Admin? You go to “BuddyPress > Forums Setup” and click the appropriate button.

This is more than likely the issue. Read this post (and follow its link) for more insight:

InactiveI’m also experimenting with this today. As an admin I tried to start a new group with a new forum but was given a warning on the group creation screen, saying I needed to configure forums correctly at:
/wp-admin/admin.php?page=buddypress/bp-forums.php
but that page doesn’t exist. I might not have these forums configured correctly, as I can’t see where I’m supposed to start a thread or create a new forum, as I did in bbpress.
November 10, 2009 at 8:22 pm #56402In reply to: how to access to bbpress admin from buddypress??
Jeff Sayre
ParticipantForums integrate into groups. Therefore, if bbPress has been activated and a given group has enabled forums, then you need to navigate to a group that you belong to and click the “Forum” menu. You can then see and respond to existing threads or create a new thread.

November 10, 2009 at 8:06 pm #56398In reply to: next release dates for BP 1.1.3 / BP 1.2 ?
Jeff Sayre
ParticipantThis is pure speculation on my part, but I would guess that 1.1.3 could be released within 2-3 weeks. It could be a little sooner or later.
As far as version 1.2, if BP-release history offers anything to go on, I would guess that there could be a 1.1.4 before a 1.2 release. Even if the versioning jumps directly from 1.1.3 to 1.2, I would not expect that to happen until after the new year. There are still a few big-picture items that need to make it into BP to meet the roadmap for v1.2 and WPMU 2.9 has yet to be released.
But, what do I know. Andy and jjj are the ones to answer. I’m just an outsider waiting to hang out with the cool kids.
