Hi
I’ve installed WordPress MU and BuddyPress on a Windows2003 box running IIS. I need IIS because the rest of the site is built with asp.net
I’ve got version 2.7.1 of wordpress and 1.0 of BuddyPress. I installed micronovae pro (http://www.micronovae.com/) to mimic mod_rewrite.
I’ve installed and activated the bphome theme. bp member is also installed.
The home page seems OK (http://www.travelcreators.co.uk/network/) but whenever I click on any links, such as the blog or members button, I get a 404 error.
Can you help me?
@M, But with your work rate on BP ,it slowly turning into FB..LOL
Please test it in Chrome ,missing send button & display not aligned properly !

@Staceyk18,
If you mean the buddybar (grey) at the top of the page, you can change it by going into:
wp-content>plugins>buddypress>bp-core>bp-core-adminbar.php
and
wp-content>plugins>buddypress>bp-core>css>admin-bar.css
If you want to add menus to the login bar, you’re better off setting up a bp-custom.php, this thread will have details on what to do (read thru the whole thread):

one problem.
(i think…) everytime someone sign up for new blog the db-cache is disabled.
that’s bad.
how do we force the check and always make dbcache enabled?
i tried remove this lines from db-options.php
/* if (!isset($config[‘enabled’]))
{
$config[‘enabled’] = false;
$cache_enabled = false;
}else
*/
and leave only this line:
$cache_enabled = true;
but dbcache does not seems enabled.
any idea?
tia.
Is there a plugin that can help me create a simple poll widget. I have looked around these and WPMU forums and there are several conflicting reviews.
I need it to run well with the buddypress home theme, no need to run on the member theme or user blogs.
I use WP-Polls on my wordpress blogs but I read on the developers forums that it has several issues with WPMU.
Yeah. Never mind. I’m quitting. Not going to use this any more. Too much trouble.
Additionally BuddyPress > General Settings doesn’t shows up.
Same problem here wp-themes/bpmember is in wp-content. I did as told.
I have vbulletin completely ‘hooked’ to wordpressmu, so one registration/session/cookie etc. Meaning each system is ‘aware’ of each other, basically they are tied together.
Now since that part is done, wordpress knows that user ‘xyz’ on the wp db, is user ‘xyz’ on the vb database, it’s time to extend it.
What I would like to do is add ‘new’ posts on vbulletin to the activity stream for buddypress.
Can I ask what is the process for adding extra data to the stream?
Are there any ‘hooks’ for the stream, (I’m sure my terminology is all wrong, best guess)
—-
I am almost done with the complete integration of vbulletin to buddypress/mu.
Now when a group is created, a corresponding vbulletin ‘forum’ is created just like in bbpress.
This is why I would like to bring the information into the activity stream and also the group wires.
I’ve even gone so far as to allow a ‘complete vb forum creation’ when creating a new blog. Users can fully manage ‘their own’ vbulletin forum for their own website blog.
Anyhow, any advice is appreciated so that I can pass onto the dev staff. (They know vb inside and out, but do not work with wp at all)
@Gpo1: I have no idea what Facebook does – I’m severely allergic to it
But Ok, suggestion noted.

I’m at a loss at how this error pops up on my dashboard:
Recent Comments
Warning: Missing argument 5 for fbc_get_avatar() in /home/tightbea/public_html/wp-content/plugins/bp-fbconnect/includes/wp-facebookconnect/fbconnect.php on line 529
What am I doing wrong?
I like the “person A chatted with person B” to the activity screen if its possible !
Makes chats interesting like FB?
@Michael Berra: Localization is possible. Someone will have to create the language files though. The code is written in English at the moment.
@Everyone: Also, I’ve made some upgrades to chat over the past 2 days – it now has an even more streamlined status bar; a new sound feature that plays a brief audio file when someone sends you a new message; and when the chat window is minimized a little popup appears if someone sends you a message. You can also set yourself as visible to everyone or just your friends, or make yourself completely unavailable for chat in general. Chat history now includes date separation plus time stamps.
This first rendition is nearly done. Still on the agenda for this version: Let users delete their chat history, let the site admin trim history for everyone if the need arises.
I looked at adding “person A chatted with person B” to the activity screen but at the moment it doesn’t seem worth the effort, plus some people might not want that showing up. Anybody have an opinion about this sort of feature?
I’m having the same problem, but mine seems to be related only to the “register” page.

I can’t let anyone register. What is the difference between /wp-signup.php and /register?
I can’t get either to work. I did a clean install on another test domain into a new database and it won’t let me signup anyone either. I get blank screens back with no errors.

Hi Jeff,
I do understand that the backbone of BuddyPress is WPMU.
As WPMU is managed / owned by Automattic, are they planning to make Multi-Language-Versions of WPMU a possibility ?
I do undrestand that this will take some time and therefore stopped the plan for running my website in 2 languages.
Many thanks,
Erich
Now that we’ve got the buddypress up and running we’re putting together materials to add to its social features and one of the things we’d like to do is add a section for our users to upload and download files.
This is a private server so we will not have to worry about spam.
Our users would be uploading files like word documents, pdf’s and ppts – mainly filled with resources for each other to pull information from.
I was thinking about setting up a page within the site and using asp.net or something but I’m not sure exactly what would be the best method.
Anyone have any suggestions on where I can read more about this?
wow, I nearly fell off my chair !
I just discovered the “Dashboard” by accident.
http://buddypress.org/wp-admin/index.php
what is this ? Is it the admin for the user itself ?
I just did not figure out yet what this is doing…..
also: how to go from the BuddyPress-site to the Dashboard ? I can not see a link at the BuddyPress site like “take me to my dashboard” ?
Many thanks,
Erich

WPMu + BuddyPress + BbPress + MediaWiki
It’s an academic social network built to bring together members of the 23 campus City University of New York system
OK so i re-installed to use subdirectories. but now there is not members directory. So if i click a member name its a broken link.
I am installing buddypress via the wordpress-mu Plugin Browser/Installer.
Everything finishes correctly but can not create profiles.
@Cdaniel, Whats features would this plugin have for wordpress mu or Buddypress CMS and is it self hosted kalturaCE?
Uninstalled bbpress per above instructions (thanks btw).
Still getting same errors. Must be some other issue…
Tried deactivating BuddyPress then reactivating… nothing different happened?
Any other clues where I should look?
