Apparently this was fixed for BP 1.7

ParticipantThis is a duplicate of an issue published a year ago! https://buddypress.org/support/topic/using-group-extension-api-to-add-2-extensions/
June 1, 2013 at 10:45 pm #165187shiftyRZA
ParticipantIt should be noted, when viewing one of the added admin tabs and the added admin tabs after it disappears, the corresponding main tabs in the group also disappear. This also includes the “Member Groups” tab of the BuddyPress Group Hierarchy plugin which also uses the BP_Group_Extension class.
June 1, 2013 at 10:38 pm #165185shiftyRZA
ParticipantThis problem also seems to affect the Buddypress Group Extras plugin. After clicking on one of the above mentioned tabs under the group admin screen, the “Extras” tab also disappears, but when clicking on the Extras tab, all the (added) tabs before it shows up.

Participant@bphelp I think you aren’t giving the developers enough credit. Version releases have been accelerating
1.2 to 1.5 took 20 months
1.5 to 1.6 took 11 months
1.6 to 1.7 took 8 monthsTrac can be deceptive, but based on current roadmap https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/roadmap 32% of 1.8 is completed and 1.8 is due in July (7 weeks from now). Even if that is revised and we get 1.8 only in November, we could possibly see 1.9 as early as May next year (or we may not…this is pure speculation).
Eitherway, most major projects I know close scoping for a version long before a beta of the previous version is released.
@mercime Thanks. BTW #4796 was started by Boone.w.r.t. #5008, the idea is to have widget for “previews” of the different tabs. Site/Group admins can decide for themselves which widgets (or even none at all) they want to show on the member profile page.
In a similar vein, groups could have member widgets too (though I havent requested them yet, and there is no ticket for them). I think it’s pretty reasonable to show some group members on the group profile.

ParticipantThanks so much for documenting this rcain. I’m set up in a local server development environment (obviously not advertising to search engines) and was trying to figure out why the WP comments were not showing up in the BP activity stream! You just saved me a lot of time!!

ParticipantI am using wordpress version 3.5.1
It is a directory install, but it is in a subdirectory.
I did not upgrade wordpress. This was a new install.
I am running buddypress version 1.7.2
I have the following plugins installed and active: bbpress, all in one event calendar, tinymce advanced, buddypress media, jetpack, subtle background patterns, wordpress importer.
I am using a customized theme called “Salutation” which is designed to work with buddypress.
I have not modified the core files and do not have any custom functions.
I am running bbpress version 2.3.2
My host is godaddy.
I am on a linux server.

ParticipantHi Yuttadhammo,
very thanks for this brilliant APP 🙂
But there’d be one question left: My Community ask me, why the images in Activity-Stream posts are converted in this cyan blocks?

I searched trough the source-Code, but my coding isn’t far as good to find it the right part -_-

Participant@carmeetsroad yeah, it’s free and open source, do what you like, though I’m not sure whether the gpl licence requires you to release your customisations as open source as well…
sorry, i moved the website thing to its own class, BPWebsite.java. you’ll find the custom website variable there. should still work to hardcode.

Participant@sinetwo at this time, I only know of a premium plugin, Mapology, which is compatible with BuddyPress members/groups http://shop.shabushabu.eu/mapology.html

ParticipantIt’s all cool. This is the Requests and Feedback forum 🙂
@sooskriszta can share the enhancement tickets he/she posted in BuddyPress Trac and lobby for such, exercising first amendment rights. Ticket #5008 reminds me of the original BP theme which had the avatars of group admin/mod under the avatar with member avatars below it 🙂June 1, 2013 at 6:10 am #165159Prolet
ParticipantDear aces,
Thank you for your suggestion to caedaldwych. I’d like to use it too.
My problem is that I can’t find the bp-custom.php file 🙁
The path “wp-content/plugins/bp-custom.php” is incorrect.
Of course I went to buddypress’s directory and opened all subdirectories and still no bp-custom.php
It’s weird to ask for this type of help, but please advise me!
Thank you so much for your time!Best regards,

ParticipantHey there @yuttadhammo
can I brand it so that it has my sites logo, etc?
can I hardcode the url? -I think this feature disappeared

Participant@fearracious glad you resolved the issue on your own 🙂
Marking this as resolved.June 1, 2013 at 1:40 am #165153In reply to: can't create groups
@mercime
Participant@carolinecalvert what theme are you using? Some themes have page titles which are not within the WP loop, hence BP cannot automagically insert the “Create Group” button beside the page title as seen https://mercime.files.wordpress.com/2013/02/groups-directory.png
On way is to create a link when user is logged in. You only need to append /create/ after your site’s group directory url, e.g. http://example.com/groups/create/
In upcoming BP version, the create a group link will also be added to the Member’s navigation in WP toolbar. If you’re adventurous, you can add the code to have those links already https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/7062

Participant+1 for that, was my primary thought regarding the anti-spam functionality i was referring to. actually had a sort of deep thought about that the other day.
i think in todays landscape on the internet spam is becoming an ever increasing issue and without doubt buddypress sites/admins are bearing in inordinate brunt of that battle. Now that we have lowered the bar of entry there is (if we have our way) liable to be a lot more fresh targets for these malicious interests. Nothing dissipates the enjoyment (by admins or users) of a social network faster or more easily then spamming. Not to in any way subtract from the great strides that have already been made in this regard, we owe it to not only our own community but the internet as a whole to be proactive and step up our game in regards to making these leaches lives more difficult.
Now stepping down from the soap box 😛

ParticipantI like your enthusiasm but it seems you’re getting a bit ahead of yourself. The trac for 1.8 has been on 100 active and outstanding tickets for weeks on end now and there is no discussion of 1.9 anywhere.
But as long as we’re throwing out ideas for the upcoming, I’d like to vote for throttling as discussed here:

ParticipantThanks @ubernaut for keeping us updated. Most of my feeds are working now with the exception of one. It sounds like generally there’s alot of buggyness across wordpress with regards to feeds and with similar mime type error messages showing not only in Buddypress

ParticipantYes @nomad-one, mine are starting to have mood swings as well. Fickle things!! The individual group feeds I had feeding into my reader have stopped working, and now can’t get any more valid feeds registered at all from the site. Just can’t figure out what to do…
Question: do the WP RSS feeds on your dashboard work?
Reference: https://buddypress.org/support/topic/no-rss-feeds-are-coming-in/Sounds like maybe there’s some structural BP issues here? I’m equally as desperate to get these to work…how can we figure this out? Or are we S.O.L. until the next BP update??
