ParticipantHi,
I have resolved the problem on the site where I was having problems.
Here’s what I did.
1. Disabled “all plugins”
2. By doing this I identified it wasn’t a BuddyPress Problem
3. Tried to login on as a vanilla WordPress site. If you cant login you are confirming this is not a BuddyPress issue but a WordPress issue.
4. Ran the script written by Mark Jaquith found here: http://markjaquith.wordpress.com/2006/03/28/wordpress-error-you-do-not-have-sufficient-permissions-to-access-this-page/
5. I checked the user on the Vanilla WordPress site, I logged in OK.
6. I re-initialised all BuddyPress Plugins and Themes
7. I was able to log in. (Yeah Team!)All good. I hope this helps.

ModeratorIf you only want urls you can use profile fields then pull each through to show where you want on the profile.
Once you’ve set up the profile fields in your admin dashboard you can then output like this:
<?php bp_profile_field_data( array('user_id'=>$user_id,'field'=>'twitter' )); ?>This assumes a profile field called Twitter. You may have to set the $user_id depending on if you are outputting on profile or somewhere else.
Should you want to use different types of fields such as date pickers and so on you can use: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-xprofile-custom-fields-type/

@mercime
Participant@bounomid you probably mean blog posts, not blogs as that requirest a multisite setup like hnla mentioned above. Check out http://buddydev.com/buddypress/introducing-buddyblog-allow-users-to-blog-from-their-buddypress-profile/

Participant@paisano What theme are you using? If it’s a “BuddyPress-ready” theme, check if it’s been updated for BP 1.7. Change to BP Default theme and check if same issue is showing up

ParticipantI believe some other plugins were conflicting. Activating bbPress with only the BuddyPress 1.6.5 plugin active works fine. I will go through the 1.7 update before trying some of my other plugins to determine which were producing the conflict. Thanks heaps to Andrew Macdermid for working with me today to narrow down the problem area. I will post again with the conflicting plugins once I’ve finished.

ParticipantHi Hugo,
For some reason I didn’t get notified you had replied. But thank you so much for reaching out.
To answer your question, I have no plugin. I was just guessing that this would be a common BP concept.
So this is impossible then?
regards,

Participant@mercime it is a custom theme but I have built many so I dont think it would be that would it?? This is my first walk with Buddypress, I just didnt know if I forgot to do something or what.. If you want to check for yourself the url is socializespark.com and when you login you can click on latest members and try to add the ‘admin’ as a friend or DerekS (that’s me as well).
I dont know if that would help you see what is happening

May 6, 2013 at 1:21 pm #163490Chris
ParticipantSeems like this problem hasn’t gone away on 1.7.1.
I’ve tried the above solution with little joy.
1. My customers setup is a sub-site from their primary site.
2. I tried disabling all the plugins except for BuddyPress. No joy there
3. Tried adding define(‘BP_ENABLE_MULTIBLOG’, true); to wp-config on the sub site and primary site, no joy there either.Any suggestions??

ParticipantI use a child theme derived from the default team, only changing the visibility of the menu as explained in //https://buddypress.org/support/topic/resolved-hiding-navigation-links-for-buddypress-pages-for-non-registered-users/
When I use the default theme as such, it still doesn’t work.
I also tried to change the user’s role to author; still no luck…May 6, 2013 at 2:19 am #163483In reply to: Adding/Canceling Friends breaks layout
@mercime
Participant@designloud What theme are you using? What plugins are activated? First time I’ve seen this issue. Change to BP Default theme and check if issue is resolved. If not, deactivate plugins except BuddyPress and then activate the other plugins by batches to check which is causing the issue.

ParticipantI like an issue that resolves itself 🙂

ParticipantPresuming http://themeforest.net/item/onecommunity-buddypress-theme/3713046 is your theme, have you tried upgrading it to the latest version – v1.1.9 ?
If that isn’t the problem and as this is a premium theme I suggest you ask on http://themeforest.net/item/onecommunity-buddypress-theme/discussion/3713046 or http://support.diaboliquedesign.com/ ?

Participantthank you.
guess I was over-thinking it since the theme is a buddypress specific theme I wasn’t expecting the two not to make nice.May 5, 2013 at 8:39 pm #163472In reply to: Buddypress with GEO Theme

ParticipantWhat’s the end of the ‘story’?
I have the same problem:
Android 4.0.3, wp 3.4.1, buddypress 1.7 default theme.I can just add a piece to the jigsaw… FIrefox for Android on mobile works perfectly…

ParticipantEverything seems to be working now. Don’t know why, it seems to have fixed itself. I am using the default BuddyPress theme, and I have never installed the BP Template Pack plugin.

ModeratorLets focus on your site first as each site is different and css / html validation is just a guide due to html5 and css3.
Ultimately the best way is to either save/ print the list and work through each.
You are going to run into some issues where the validator thinks something isn’t valid and it’s a CSS3 technique it doesn’t validate.
Personally, my focus on validation is always on the html validator first and then the CSS validator as a sanity check because so many things won’t pass that are valid just newer CSS.
Any validator should only be a guide not a rule book.

Moderator@Sorensen84 can you confirm you are using the default templates – I think you are from what you say. I’m thinking you are saying that here:
I use the buddypress default template. I got to problems, I hope you can help me solve.
If this is the case then it’s not a custom theme unfortunately @Chouf1.
The next candidate for an issue would be on plugins. Probably good idea if you can to strip back see if that helps by adding one by one.
