In reply to: Translation Problem file
danbpfr
Participantbuddypress-nl_NL.mo must be in wp-content/languages
Po file is for translating. It’s a working file.
Mo file is for translation throught php gettext. Only the mo is mandatory, not the po or the pot
Once you finish the translation of a po file, you need to compile it to mo format with poEdit. (or equivalent tool)April 5, 2013 at 3:18 pm #159988In reply to: Sharing files in a group

ParticipantAn alternative menu code for BuddyPress menu:
http://theme.firmasite.com/support/topic/account-menu-in-top-menu-bar/It adds login form for visitors and it becomes buddypress menu for logged-in users. Code needs php5.3+ atm. You can play with it 🙂

ParticipantI changed my search terms and founded this:
https://buddypress.org/support/topic/how-do-i-delete-item-in-account-menu/
I applied the changes to remove the nodes ‘my-account-forums-favorite-topics’ and ‘my-em-events’. Furthermore, following the complete WP class guide I realized I can change the “href” of the links too…
However, thank you all for the great job you do…
The thread can be considered [solved]…

ParticipantIt does appear there is an issue in the user account screens with loadmore activity entries; I’ve added it as a ticket to the Status git account.
https://github.com/buddypress-themers/status/issues/12
At this stage not sure what the issue is.

Review @hnla ‘s documentation here:
https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/theme-development/a-quick-look-at-1-7-theme-compatibility/
Any template file you choose to tweak needs to be included in your child theme within its directory structure intact. I hope this makes sense to you!April 5, 2013 at 4:57 am #159953In reply to: Modifying Buddypress 1.7 Beta

Participant@modemlooper @pdillon809 . If you wanna make changes to the theme your using you need to still employ child themes. @modemlooper I know your a smart guy but how wise is it to tell folks to stray from child themes when the whole basis of modification without modification to the original source code is jeopardized by your statement? Rarely should there ever be an instance where one should modify source code so anytime one decides changes then child themes still is relevant. Not to be mean but I think there was some miscommunication here!
@pdillon809
Copying those template files will result in no changes unless you edit those files. You will need to edit the files you copied to your child theme to see any results!April 5, 2013 at 4:09 am #159951In reply to: Modifying Buddypress 1.7 Beta

ParticipantI’m using 1.7 beta 2 and the client wants to make some changes to the profile page. I’m using a child theme of Evolution (Elegant Themes). I can see that style.css in the child folder will affect the Buddypress styling but I’m going to need more customization.
Aside from the actual template file that I’m tweaking, what else needs to be in the child folder?
For example, if I copy /wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/registration/ folder into the child theme – it’s not formatted the same as the original. I’m not sure whether this register.php is the same one being used from the main buddypress plugin folder or whether there are some files missing from that I should place in the child theme?
I see that @bphelp suggests copying the contents of /wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress into the child theme root. Not sure whether the registration page would be affected by this.
Is there child theme docs specific to 1.7 – I know there are big changes from 1.6 to 1.7 as far as theme compatibility is concerned and most of the info on Google is probably out of date.

ParticipantI know this is old but I had the same problem and figured out how to fix it so thought I would post it.
Instead of trying to feed the key in, I just trimmed the message to remove the original wording and then replaced it with my own wording.`
function fix_bp_activation_message($message) {
$msgTrim = “Thanks for registering! To complete the activation of your account please click the following link:”;
$trimmed = trim($message,$msgTrim);return __( “Thanks for signing up to Clandestine Cake Club! In order to take part in the fun, you’ll need to activate your account by clicking the link below. \n Once you’ve done that, we’ll need to approve the account, usually within 24 hours.”.$trimmed.”Best wishes,\n Lynn Hill – CCC Founder”, ‘buddypress’ );
}add_filter(‘bp_core_signup_send_validation_email_message’, ‘fix_bp_activation_message’);

ParticipantThanks @mercime for the reply
When I first installed buddypress I installed on the main site before I made my site an multisite. Now is activated on the whole network. I will proceed to upgrade and see if it works. But I don’t know if it will because like I said on the first post I did a new installation of wordpress and buddypress on a sub-domain with WP 3.5.1 and BuddyPress 1.6.5 on it and I still receive the same message.
Thanks for the support
April 4, 2013 at 8:40 pm #159925@mercime
ParticipantBuddyPress: 1.6.4 = WordPress: 3.5
You made a backup of your DB before upgrading right?
Please upgrade to WP 3.5.1 and BuddyPress 1.6.5, clear cache, change to BP Default theme and check whether issue is corrected.WordPress multisite: subdirectory
Is BuddyPress activated network-wide or is BP activated only in main site/subdirectory?

Participant@jamie771 “BuddyPress 1.4.1” or BuddyPress 1.6.1? In any case, for WP 3.5.1, you should be using BuddyPress 1.6.5 https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/releases/

Participanthave you correctly setup your child theme ? Which BP version do you use ?
Anyway in your child theme style.css, you must have those commented lines at the top of the file
Theme name & Template name are mandatory/*
Theme Name: BuddyPress Dusk
Theme URI: http://example.org/themes/dusk/
Description: Dark theme for BuddyPress.
Version: 1.0
Author: John Doe
Author URI: http://example.org/
Template: bp-default

ParticipantHi @chouf1 and thanks for your extensive and clear reply, to answer your questions:
1. Site URL link
2. Single WP but considering Multisite in near future
3. PHP version 5.2.17
4. Yes they provide me gettext with phpAbout your suggestions:
1. I’m using WP 3.5.1
2. Checked the language folder and there were all the files You say except the buddypress.mo, I added it, clear chache, made a new activity update and nothing happens.
3. Actually the theme has .mo and .po files and I checked them and where ok, no strange translation or mistakes.
4. I’ll try the wp-include folder option and update this topic again.Really, really, thanks for all your time!
