Participant@raminkhan Please bring this to the attention of the theme author by posting at theme’s support forums at https://wordpress.org/support/theme/frisco-for-buddypress It would be good if you can attach a screenshot of the issue or barring that, be more specific about your description of the issue.

Participant@mercime I did not blamed anyone, i blamed the attitude. Any premium or free theme or plugin that will be used with Buddypress and has support for Buddypress must be treated in a better way as they promote through their use the Buddypress product. From what i can see Buddypress tries to offer maximum compatibility with any theme.
So, the team can learn from premium plugins and themes the users offer when they have questions. That should be the attitude, according to the Buddypress statement.
Again, this is a SUPPORT forum not at I Do not SUPPORT people asking and ways to improve our services.
Pagelines offers their support, i expected a combined support where all 3 parties can learn not to act like there is a war out there. The option it is simple. You can choose to help or ignore the post. If a person asks for support offer it because they need it not because they want to disturb ones day.

Participantand decided that it’s probably best to get rid of the site wide forums
@rayela if you want to have the forums in your site, keep the site wide forums as the BP internel group forums are being merged into the sitewide forums.
If I uninstall the bppress plug-in and reinstall it, will I lose all of the groups that I created?
No, you will not lose the groups you have created. But then again, per previous paragraph, if you plan to have forums in your site, you should keep bbPress forums activated in your site.
http://www.tafaforum.com/forums/ …. I think that is the biggest problem that is keeping the sitewide forums from working properly.
I believe you’ve figured out by now that that link does lead to the sitewide forums

Participant@ciumbargi I don’t see why you should be blaming BuddyPress for any flaws 🙂 when you’re using a premium pagelines theme which requires afaik a premium pagelines plugin for BP compatibility. The style issues are either with your theme or your plugin and since you’ve paid for both, you should get support from author by posting in pagelines forums.

Participant@hugo, it is my problem but it is not my design. It is the incompatibility that buddypress has with lots and lots of themes. Instead of just pointing me to learn some more css the team could just accept a small flaw, investigate and if it is something they can use to improve their product just do that. 🙂
I have to alter my design just because the original came with this kind of flaw.
Thank you.

Participant@ciumbargi no one could solve as there wasn’t an issue to solve what you have is your design, and how it thinks things should look, if you think otherwise then you are free to modify it this is the beauty of WP child themes but you do need to learn a little coding and get familiar with basic CSS.
Mercime has provided a snippet of code if that’s not exactly what you need then you must try and modify it.

Participant@mercime – I could figure that the importance level is different for the small avatar items and bigger ones. My problem was with the alignment in my theme as it looks weird as the text next to the small avatar is below the level of the avatar not on the same line.
I have inserted your code to make he small and big avatar the same size, it is an option indeed.
I wanted the solution to put the text on the same line level but this is a ok trick too.
Thanks.
P.s. If you have a solution for what i needed first i would appreciate the code.

Participant@mercime This helped me and got my test buddypress1.7 site correct…I changed the bbpress slug to discussions and using the domain.com/discussions i see the forum. I am using group forums and all topics are displaying in that page properly…now do i need to redirect that page to my actual forum page or is there any short code for it?

ParticipantI had the same issue and I want to share here what I did to make activation emails reach the inbox (especially in Gmail):
– added SPF and DKIM DNS records in order to certify that the e-mails are legitimate, especially if your host uses a third party service to send them, or they get sent from a different domain
– changed the default “from” e-mail address and “from name” fields using a plugin. I used WP-Mail-SMTP plugin that also allows me to use my own e-mail address (like a google apps one), but there are plenty others that you could useAfter these steps the e-mails were still being marked as spam by Gmail and the only thing left was to edit the activation e-mail content itslef. Thank you Paul for adding the option in Welcome Pack plugin. I enabled “Customise the emails sent by BuddyPress, either in plain text or rich HTML versions.” I then edited the content and subject by adding more text and there it was, activation e-mail wasn’t marked as spam anymore.
I hope this helps someone else as I spent quite some time making it work 🙂

ParticipantI finally realized that the Buddypress User Account Types PRO was breaking it! I hope the plugin developer fixes this or I’m going to be getting a refund and finding a custom solution for the same thing.

Participant@ciumbargi Big avatars at beginning of the stream denote “Major” activities which include new blog post published, new forum topic posted, etc. Small avatars at the beginning of the stream row denote “minor” activities which include joining a group, new friendships, new registrations, etc. So there is a method to distinguish which is which.
If you still want to make those changes, add the following to your stylesheet
<code>.activity-list li.mini .activity-avatar img.avatar,
.activity-list li.mini .activity-avatar img.FB_profile_pic {
height: 50px;
margin-left: 0;
width: 50px;
}</code>If you’re using browsers like FireFox, Chrome or Safari, right click on the element you want to change, choose “Inspect Element” from the box which shows up and you’ll find the styles you would need to add/change in your theme.
January 18, 2013 at 4:57 am #151017@mercime
Participant@investoreports please start a new topic for your issue as it’s quite different from this year-old topic. That plugin is compatible up to BP version 1.5 and has not been updated for current BP version. Also, you can edit status updates in the Activity Stream admin panel https://codex.buddypress.org/user/setting-up-a-new-installation/configure-buddypress-components/#activity-stream-admin-panel
Closing this.

ParticipantIf the styles you linked to from your old theme are messing up your current theme, then delete them. As mentioned in my second post, the styles you posted might not work in your new theme.
Initial scan of the U-Design theme shows that you only need to create two or three files to make your BP template files compatible with your theme.

ParticipantForgot to keep track of my own code. I was using a couple of buddypress functions in the theme. It worked fine on Twenty Eleven, so I had to re check my custom code and found out that I was using those functions. Removed them, and it’s working fine now. 🙂
Thanks for the help.

Participant@bglclub Please know that we are all volunteers here living in different time zones. What the OP and you have posted requires customization which involves a lot of time which many might not have in abundance.
Know also that there would be instances where you might have to find the solution yourself OR where you have to hire a developer to customize BuddyPress and/or plugin to work together OR follow up and hope that some generous soul who has faced this issue and resolved it would share the information.
@mercime
Participant@patrykos360 not quite clear. Do you mean you do not want new blog posts to be recorded or show up in Activity Stream?

Participant@daiyoukai Change to BP Default theme and check if the actions for the Group Forums are working or not.

Participant@naturalworldstm it most likely would not be the same. Please create a new topic of your own. Include info about which templatic theme and theme demo url to start off.

ParticipantGenesis theme framework. … I enabled sitewide forums today.
In other words, you had BuddyPress activated first and you went through the installation process where the default page name and slug of the Group Forums (unless you disabled it during the process) is Forums. The slug/name for your new bbPress sitewide forums page must be different from the slug/name of your Group Forums (Forums). So go to Settings > Forums and change the slug if you haven’t done it yet to e.g. discussions. Then create a new Page discussions and add the bbPress shortcode for forum index e.g.
Don’t know how Genesis Connect works with BP and bbPress since I don’t use the framework. If the above instruction fails, change to BP Default theme to check if issue is resolved.
