ModeratorI would not use the current activity post form. I would create a group extension and have a private submit form for admins only.

ParticipantThanks for adding that Chris. Personally I’d never go with shared hosting, but maybe there are exceptions to the rule. If you ever want to share your experiences in more details I’d love to cover it on BP-Tricks!

@ChrisClayton
Participant@tarkham for the fatal errors being posted, If you download trunk, you need to rename the directory to ‘buddypress’ as it defaults to ‘trunk’ and BP_PLUGIN_DIR is hardcoded to ‘/buddypress’.

ParticipantDoes it have anything to do with my Artisteer Theme or maybe a plugin I have installed?
Sorry to bother you guys and again forgive me as I’m just an end user with a little knowledge trying to get the social part of my site functioning properly.
If anyone can give me some advice or has time to take a look at it for me it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance…

ParticipantWhat strikes me as odd is that if it has something to do with the activity stream files why am I still able to “Load More” activity using the button at the button of the page? At this point I dunno what’s wrong.

Participant1. Post to the text box which is should expand the box and generate a button. Neither actions are functioning.
2. When commenting on a previous member’s post using the 3 shaded buttons ,
, member avatar along with an expanded text box should be generated along with a “button” and the instruction
Neither of these are functioning by design as well.
When pressing the button, the command generates the avatar, text input box and “button” with the instruction but then it just refreshes the page. Not allowing you to post the comment.January 16, 2013 at 5:02 am #150800In reply to: Get buddypress username or single activity page

ParticipantI’ve been experiencing the same issues since I started this process over 2 weeks ago. I can create groups, forums and post replies… however, within the group and/or forum or even after going in using the “Activity” link on my sidebar to access the “Activity Stream Directory” page, I CAN NOT do the following:

ParticipantThanks for the feedback. As it turns out, I was finally able to restore the old config file (and make several backup copies, of course).
And the BuddyPress stuff I remembered being in there was actually BuddyVents.
…Time to go back in there and fix what I was supposed to yesterday, before I created the problem.

Participant@voopress Did you activate BuddyPress in Network Admin? It must be activated sitewide. Is BP installed in main site or in subsite? Site URI?
January 16, 2013 at 2:20 am #150782In reply to: I want Buddypress to work within a template
@mercime
Participantthe Valor template was deactivated, and Buddypress became my site template
Probably because when you went through the installation wizard at Step 4, you clicked Save without noticing that the button was checked for BP Default theme https://codex.buddypress.org/user/setting-up-a-new-installation/installation-wizard/#step-4-choose-theme-to-use-for-your-bp-install
Just go to Appearance > Themes to select your WP theme, then install/activate the BP Template Pack plugin, and finally go through Appearance > BP compatibility process.
January 16, 2013 at 2:13 am #150781@mercime
ParticipantGoing back to your original post – BP theme compatibility, what WP theme are you trying to make compatible with BuddyPress? And, did you already try to link the two stylesheets via the link I gave to you above?

ParticipantI am using a theme called Valor from Themeforest.net (http://themeforest.net/item/valor-responsive-wordpress-theme/full_screen_preview/3741916).
I created a Menu item called “Dream Bank”. I want site visitors to be able to come to http://www.glassworksdream.com and click on the “Dream Bank” menu item. Then, I want them to be asked to register for the Buddypress section of the site.
When I installed and activated Buddypress, instead of that happening, the Valor template was deactivated, and Buddypress became my site template.

ParticipantUnfortunately, it took over the entire site
Something’s getting lost in translation or context. What theme are you using? Could you be more specific about What you mean “make it work within the site”?
