    Hello team,

As like BuddyPress profile avatar, I also want to use crop feature in BuddyPress cover image so that user can select the right image portion for their cover photo.

I don’t see any option to enable the crop to cover photos. Can you please guide me on how to achieve that?

    Thank you!

    Hello team!

I don’t want to crop the image for my BuddyPress profile image, I want to set the full-size image, but BuddyPress doesn’t allow me to do that, it only let me crop the image keeping the aspect ratio square. Can you please suggest to me how to make my BuddyPress profile image to cover without cropping?

    e.g. https://prnt.sc/r7qb38

    Thank you!

    Hi,

    @imath
I have this version of Buddypress installed and I keep getting this error message. “There was a problem cropping the group profile photo” when I try cropping/uploading group avatar image. Please help. Thanks

Hi guys. When I try to change the profile image or cover image I have two issues.

    1. Where can I change the maximum file size and dimensions? Because the file size or dimensions are too small. When I try to upload a normal sized image, I get a note “http error”. When I upload a very very small image, it works.

    2. When I upload a small image as a profile image and want to crop the image, I get the note: “There was a problem cropping your profile image”.

Normal uploads in the backend of wordpress in posts and pages are working.

    What can I do?

    Best regards
    Gordon

I’ve noticed a few of these tickets from a year or so ago talking about how lazy loading is affecting the crop feature for profile images. I’m experiencing the same thing. When I use lazy loading through my theme, it doesn’t work at all. When I use lazy loading through WPRocket, the cropping feature works but on sections of profile like “notifications” and “achievement” the image just loads as a tiny tiny square.

Is there any way to bypass this lazy loading issue without turning lazy loading off? Can the profile image be removed on certain profile-nested sections?

    Hi there,

When I try to upload a profile picture, there is no possibility to crop the picture manually, or the button is so small that you cannot do anything with it (https://pasteboard.co/IKNqUfz.png).

I’m running Hestia theme with the latest version of WP and BP. Issue still happens with Twenty Themes… I believe I haven’t done any CSS modification but I’ve done a few tricks in my bp-custom.php file, like to exclude some user roles to appear in the member directory or redirecting some user roles to homepage when they try to access their profile.

    Has someone experienced this problem?

Ideally the cropper should appear below the uploaded image. It could be a site specific issue.

Hello, I have an issue, whenever I try uploading profile picture using a phone like android it’s impossible to crop or see the other half of the picture without a landscape view. This makes it impossible to crop. Tried reducing the size or the jcroper when then the crop floats about. Any solution to this please.
    Using wordpress 5.2.4
    Buddypress 5.0.0

    Hi

When I upload a profile picture it will upload the picture but will not allow me to crop it. The is a tiny black box in the top left corner which when hovered over gives the ‘change size’ arrows, but when clicked it gets even smaller and the arrows do not appear.

I am using the latest versions of WordPress and Buddypress.

    I have tried the following:
    * Used default 2017 theme
    * Disabled all plugins except buddypress
    * Used different browsers: Firefox, Chrome, Edge, Safari

When searching this forum I have seen that this is a known problem but have been unable to find any solution.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello,

When I upload a profile image, the crop function isn’t working. The profile image shows a very tiny box that, when hovered over, can be moved but then only goes smaller. The only way to get out of it is to cancel or “crop” which then sets the profile image to a position that is less than ideal.

I’ve created a video to illustrate the issue: https://d.pr/v/JNgLiN

    How can I fix this?

    Thank you!

I’d like to be able to do this, setting the cover image is difficult for users since it needs to be the correct size and aspect ratio and cant be moved around or cropped like the profile image.

    Wordpress 5.2.3 Buddypress 4.4.0

When uploading a profile picture, the picture uploads but the crop tool don’t work. It’s a small 2×2 square that’s unusable.

I’m using the current KLEO theme and Buddypress Noveau.

I am having the hardest time trying to figure out how to change the text “change image”. A lot of the users do not know where to click to crop it because there is no box/button surrounding the text. I would either like to figure out how to change the text to saying “click here to crop image” or make it look like a button they can click on. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Please reference the image attached to this post!

Hi there, I started the topic, and just to clarify, of course the subject should have been why you can’t crop the cover image.

The best solution I found so far, is BP Cover, which at least let you frame the cover image up and down.

Using this with Aardvark theme (developer has made it clear that he cannot help us, as this is definitely a BuddyPress issue).

Hi, we are developing a revision sharing website platform (as two students that have recently finished A-Level exams) and the most recent problem we have been trying to resolve is with BuddyPress. Firstly, when the user goes to their account, their posts do not appear. We are using a USP Pro submission form for users to submit posts, but we do not think this is the cause of this particular issue. Here is an image showing the problem: Illustrating no posts problem

Secondly, when a user tries to change their profile image and uploads a file, the crop image messes up and only shows a dot that you cannot move or resize.

We have tried reinstalling BuddyPress many times to no avail. We cannot express how grateful we would be for a solution, because without BuddyPress, we don’t think we would be able to launch the site.
    Thank you in advance.

    Wordpress: 5.2.2
    BuddyPress: 4.3.0
    Theme: Astra

I have an error when changing profile picture. After selecting picture from computer, the green progress loading bar is only “full” for a couple of seconds (as opposed to “filling” corresponding to the file upload), and then it displays a picture for “crop” that is either nothing or miniscule. All that is visible is the “crop” button and what appears to be the four corner dots of the crop tool all bunched together. I have screen shots of the error, but don’t know how to upload them.

As a Web Designer, am currently building a social networking site for a client of mine and we were initially using Buddypress..

However along the line, we discover the profile photo part seems like an issue as people would have to crop their photo (which is a pain) before it works

Any code on how to skip the cropping photo part?

    > (no issue with twenty nineteen)

Then it is obviously an issue with the Themo theme.
Does their theme include BuddyPress templates?
Does their theme enqueue javascript or minify javascript?

Cropping issues are usually due to an absence or conflict re javascript.

Until somebody with experience with that theme sees your post, it is very unlikely that any solutions will be found here.

    Hi,

We are working on a new dating site with Themosaurus Theme (Gwangi v1.3.1) and it seems that an issue could be related to buddypress. We contact the support of Themosaurus who tell us to contact BuddyPress support. (no issue with twenty nineteen)

We try to capture the discussion on Themosaurus forum :

    Regards.

After doing some research I found another article with the same error, it was jetpack lazy load causing the issue. When enabled it doesn’t show profile picture preview when prompted to crop but when disabled it fixes it right away. Thank you again

The only code that is in those files is code that came with the theme installed. I can paste the code in here if that helps? I just don’t know why it won’t display the profile image when prompted to crop the image.

Here is an image of what is happening when I upload a new profile photo, it also does this for the cover image.

The uploaded avatar image should display along with the crop dialogue. Not seeing it would indicate a plugin or theme conflict. Did you try with a default theme such as 2017?

I have a site set up with WordPress and have BuddyPress installed on it. I am running the Reign Theme currently on my site. When I log in as a user to test the site I have an issue when uploading a new profile picture. I can select a photo and click upload but it will not show my profile picture when the crop option pops up. I can hit crop but not see anything and it will upload my profile picture. I need to change it where the user can see their photo when the crop option pops up. I have already deactivated all my plugins and used a basic theme and it did not fix my issue. If anyone can help me that would be great.

    Thanks for the tip!
I finally found the solution to the problem. Follow these steps: In admin backend, go to JetPack settings > performance and deselect “lazy loading option for images”. And now the cropping works – Please enjoy.
