    bbPress side of things https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/2599

    The workaround (for now until fixed) would be to verify the bbPress forum visibility and then to also run the bbPress repair tool “Recalculate private and hidden forums” to ensure meta data integrity.

    Thanks @danbp for your reply.

    I am fine with your explanation about the private and public nature of activities. My original question was about new forum activities created afterchanging a group’s status to public not showing up in group (&sitewide) activity anymore.

    The real issue is this: Buddypress automatically creates forums during group creation if the check box is marked in. Private forums for private groups; public forums for public groups.

    However, Buddypress does not change the visibility of the forums themselves when a group’s visibility is later changed. So while you think that your group has become Public now, it is still running a private forum inside itself.

    Hence the queer case of the missing forum activity. So yeah, the workaround would be to manually change the forum’s visibility whenever one changes the group’s ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Whats this about trust? Learning to code for me is impossible. Sorry I come from a time when the internet was free. You would ask for help and people were happy to give help and were not out to put a price on everything. Look when I suggest something I would like my raspberry pi to do on a forum. I don’t get people coming in and saying pay us and we will write you a script. They suggest ways to accomplish what I am doing, including providing the code. If other people like the project they also come along and help with suggestions, everyone learns, everyone gains. No money involved.

    As for learning to code. 1994 I put up my first website. written in HTML, for me it was really hard work as the dyslectic nature on my brain put pieces of the code back to front or muddled. So I went on a university night course to learn it. They helped me to learn it but steered me in a graphical direction instead. I learned Lightwave 3D then moved on to 3D max, Went back to collage and learned photoshop and corel draw. By that time dreamweaver 1 had come out so building websites for someone who can’t code became easier. I have had many website out there since my first, all free, many built for other people again for free. Thing is I don’t mistrust developers, developers over the years have provided me with what I need, software that I need to be able to do as I do. Software I pay for, but I also run linux systems where I test what developers are up to and willing to share for free. Same applies here bp-help.

    They way I feel now is that WordPress and Buddypress are simply given away free so developers can make money of the designing of plugins, what do you think that says to me about the people who have helped develop WordPress and Buddypress without making any money.. There are plenty of them out there yes? I feel like they were simply used to provide somewhere, people wishing to make money, could happily do so on the back of them that created the platform for nothing.

    Sorry I come from a place where money and mistrust don’t really play a part.. Guess I should just look somewhere a bit less skeptical.

    @martinblack
    Also keep in mind that @djpaul is one of the BuddyPress core developers so scolding him for simply providing a link to provide you info is not conducive to getting help when he already gives a lot of time to the BuddyPress project that you enjoy free of charge! Be humble and take all help for what it is worth without getting defensive on the forums. Peace and good luck!

    Yes Paul. I do have payed for plugins from various places and have payed people before to fine tune them. But before I even consider paying for something I want to test it and make sure my money isn’t being wasted. So as always the first thing to do is ask questions, does the ability to do what I require exist, if so what plugins, Hence why I am asking the questions. Perhaps someone who designs plugins and sells then may come in and say, yes I have something that may help. Then I will check out what they have, if it takes me so far the discuss with them what help I could get in making it work for me If bought it from them. The article you posted a link to misses out so much..And you I feel just jumped to a conclusion.

    On This matter I have been testing out all the to do list and task manager plugins out there. I hit a brick wall so thought I would ask those who know what they would suggest.

    Perhaps hold back next time Paul before posting such a link, you may just not have all the facts ๐Ÿ™‚
    And always remember, wordpress and buddypress are free. Some time in the past someone, somewhere probably said on a forum “I would like a website script that is great for blogging but doesn’t mean I have to pay a developer thousands for” some one took notice, didn’t ask for thousands but got together with other interested people and built wordpress and buddypress. If you have pointed then to your link when they asked the question, perhaps we wouldn’t have wordpress or buddypress now ?

    A last try please. Remove www from the site url in the site settings.

    See here how to change it and see if yo get the button.

    I opened a ticket for this.
    Please follow it, as you will probably be invited to give some more details to solve it.
    Thxs.

    BuddyPress uses the bbPress plugin for forums.
    So you’re better off asking the question on https://bbpress.org/forums/

    What you want may be possible, to start, see:

    Allowing inline images uploads in posts?

    Hey @shanebp – thanks for sharing – I think this might only work if you are looking for friends + personal activity.

    I’ve been scouring the forums and wp stack exchange and haven’t found anyone that has got this setup working. I’m seeing a lot of people saying it can be done but no actual code examples or suggestions for how. I do see that personal + friends activity can be combined with the example given on the activity loop page.

    Is there anyone in the buddypress dev community that has, in practice, combined various scopes successfully?

    How to work with versionned file from SVN is too long to explain in a forum topic. Google around this subject or see on WP codex. But it is not necessary to learn that for just this modification.
    In your (this) case, it is very simple to do in fact.

    As you can see, the patch contains code, highlighted in red and green in regards of the line numbers he belongs to.

    The red code is the actual code (the one who should be modified)
    and the green code is the new one who replace the red line.

    To do it correctly, you check the line number on the patch and read attentively the code. Not for learning it, but to have a visual memory of it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    You do the same in your file, with help of a text editor like notepad+ which shows your file line numbers.
    You erase the red part and you copy/paste the green part at the same place.

    When finished, your file must only contain the green part. Or to avoid any error, you can comment the old code and add the new code, so you could revert back if needed. Or you can also made a copy and put it in a safe place before modifying the original file.

    A patch also contains code who isn’t highlighted before and after the modified lines. So you can easyly check what you do and where all this happens.

    Hope to be clear.

    Hi @alainafrederick,

    if you use bbpress shortcode [bbp-forum-index] for this page: http://jeepedin.com/forums/

    replace it with this one [ bbp-single-forum id=$forum_id=4]
    and add as many shortcode of this type for each forum you want to show on the forum index.

    For ex:

    [ bbp-single-forum id=$forum_id=4]
    [ bbp-single-forum id=$forum_id=5]
    [ bbp-single-forum id=$forum_id=7]
    [ bbp-single-forum id=$forum_id=11]

    forum-index fetches ALL forums, single-forum fetches only the forum you indicate by his ID.

    @spikespiegel,

    please read here and provide more details and if possible give a site URL.
    All of your topics are so far related to some weird settings of your wordpress/buddypress installation. So it is somehow complicated to help you if you don’t resolve this first.

    There is no shame to read the WP codex by the beginning: get started and to follow each step.

    Those notices are about bbpress, not buddypress.
    Try asking on the bbpress support forums.

    Ok I cleared the log so only new errors show up, and after switching to 2013 theme I don’t get any errors in but it still doesn’t work, user activity isn’t showing up, their profile is empty with no activity and they cant post in bbpress forums (“You cannot create new topics” message – they have correct Participant rank).

    Yes it was a typo, I meant “is_spam”. Yes I tried switching and the same thing is happening, it’s not for all users, but most have the problem. When I mark for spam/unmark in the users list their old activity shows up (when they were marked for spam, and it’s reset to 0 in the table), but as soon as they log in and try to post it goes back to marking their activity as 1 in is_spam column, and not showing anything (and not giving them access to bbpress forum also).

    I’m having the same problem!

    I have just one field I want to show in the Members Directory (members-loop.php), Current Location, and I’ve tried a few different code variations I found here in the forums with no luck.

    I thought this one would do the trick, but no dice. With this code, if a member hasn’t filled out the Current Location field, it still shows the value of the last person in the list who did have it filled in.

    <?php if ( $data = bp_member_profile_data( 'field=Current Location' ) ) : ?>
    					<?php echo $data ?>
    					<?php endif ?>

    Anyone have any suggestions for me and @ariane1001?

    Thanks for your reply mrjarbenne. Posts have started appearing in my activity stream as normal now. I think this issue fixed itself after I ran the “repair forum data” tool from WP admin. I ran that to fix a completely separate issue (bad counts after deleting posts), but it seems to have fixed my issue that stopped forum posts appearing as activity.

    There must be a bug in bbPress here, so might be worth the developers looking into if any of them see this. If there’s any more detail I could give to help to that end let me know.

    Simple answer: Yes, bbPress should be appearing in your activity feed. In mine, both the forum from the main domain and forums from Public Groups create an activity entry (You can enable Group Forums in Settings/Forums)

    “username” replied to the topic “forum topic name” in the forum “Forum Name” 3 months, 4 weeks ago

    Sorry I can’t offer more assistance as to why this isn’t working for you. In my install, on the Activity Feed, there are separate filters in the dropdown for Topics and Replies to filter and locate bbpress content on the activity feed. It’s fully integrated out-of-the-box for me.

    @godavid33 Hey thanks very much for your response, I figured out something similar a little while ago and unfortunately I forgot about this forum post. Will try out your code on my test server later on.

    Thank you very much for your time and effort on this, and again, sorry for the very late reply.

    Thanks @butlerweb!

    I tried the social media earlier and it didn’t seem to work. I wrote the forum and received a response so am going to try again.

    As for the other link — yup been there too. Do you have to include a “do_action” in that code? Because it doesn’t seem to work for me wither. I’m using a field with multiple check boxes so I wonder if that’s the issue? Although on your site, I think I see a mulitcheck box section in your “arts subcategories” section, no? Thanks again.

    Yes, I’ve just tried to go back through my forum replies and the second page always goes back to this site’s home page.

    Hovering over the link for page two of my forum replies shows the address it points to is https://buddypress.org/page/2/ – when clicking on it one is shown the home page with that in the address bar.

    If I change the address to https://buddypress.org/members/aces/forums/replies/page/2/ I can see the page 2…

    I read another solution here

    1. Install and activate this plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-exec-php/

    2. Create a new page called โ€œFriendsโ€ or whatever name you want and add it to your menu.

    3. In content of this page, add this code

    <meta http-equiv=”refresh” content=”0;URL=http://blabla.com/members/<?php global $current_user;
    get_currentuserinfo();

    echo sanitize_file_name($current_user->user_login). “”;

    ?>/activity/friends/”>

    4. You may still need a way to hide this menu from logged out users. Plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/if-menu/

    Hi @richonbp

    (1) A combination of PHP, JavaScript, jQuery and Ajax is the usual.
    (2 – 4) Depends on your requirements
    (5) Usually a combination of WordPress and BuddyPress to begin with. Then any plugins you need. You might also want to choose a theme

    Hope this helps!

    When you’re ready to go ahead, try posting your requirements and some contact information on the BP Jobs Board – there are some good programmers around that check on that forum regularly.

    hi @carlenb,

    there is no buddypress forum. BuddyPress use the bbPress forum plugin, and once it is installed you can opt for a global forum or a group forum or both.

    worddraw is outdated.
    drawblog mentionned in the topic you linked is for wp comments and according to support doesn’t work with ios.

    Perhaps try this one: https://wordpress.org/plugins/deviantart-muro/
