ParticipantI have the same issue – can’t post anything, and I posted the issue to “https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/having-problem-with-buddypress-and-events-manager/” as well.
Hope someone could help me figure out how to solve it. Thank you very much.

ParticipantHi there. Thank you for responding.
It is the Group Forum and yes white/blank pages everywhere. That part is now fixed. Had to rename my plugins folder, create a new one and troubleshoot by adding back all my plugins one at a time. Never found the killer. I also changed my theme, so it could have been that.
I figured out somehow what was causing the loop and that is fixed, though I really don’t know how I did it.

Participant@ronnie_fantastic thanks for following up. You will only need to create two new files, header-buddypress.php and sidebar-buddypress.php instead of changing 16 template files.
If you’ve revised any of the BP template files transferred to your ronnie_fantastic theme folder in server during the BP Compatibility process, please delete the 6 BP folders transferred to your ronnie_fantastic theme folder in server – /activity, /blogs, /forums, /members, /groups, /register – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility again to make sure that you have clean template files.
A. COPY your theme’s header.php and Save As > header-buddypress.php
Open up header-buddypress.php and at the BOTTOM of the file, below other code contained within, add code from:
– http://pastebin.com/DYBuCJe0Save file.

Participant@ant01 BP Codex is your friend
– https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/before-installing/
– https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/setting-up-a-new-installation/installation-wizard/
– https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/configure-buddypress-components/
– https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/I suggest that you use BP Default theme while you’re setting up BuddyPress and test driving to see if everything is working as expected. If all’s well, then you focus on the theme:
– create a child theme of BP Default theme OR
– choose a WP theme and install BP Template pack plugin and go through BP compatibility process. We have a list of “template-packed” WP themes at https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/#template-packed-wordpress-themes OR
– choose a free or paid ready-made BP child theme OR
– choose a free or paid BP-ready/compatible WordPress themeNovember 4, 2012 at 6:11 pm #144490@mercime
Participant@mistichd site crash as in white/blank pages or cannot access wp-admin? https://codex.buddypress.org/troubleshooting/blank-pages/
Which forum are you referring to – Group Forum topic or Sitewide forum topic? Have you tried changing to bp-default theme and deactivating other plugins except BP

ParticipantThe BP codex is your friend, please start by reading through all the user / beginner docs there.
You will probably need to use the template pack for making BP compatible with a third party theme, there are detailed guides and steps to take in the codex as well as a comprehensive list of themes already run through the process.
You do need some very basic skills though, the ability to read , copy/paste html and PHP is a necessity and a general understanding of the files you are dealing with.
There is a learning curve involved and wanting to integrate BP into a thir party theme while not actually hard does appear confusing for novices and some patience has to be applied.
Give things a go though before calling on mercimes services (obviously this forum is not actually a service
) as mercime is being inundated with these requests.Or if you can hang on BP 1.7 will solve this theme issue by becoming automagically compatible with any theme chosen.

ParticipantLooking under ‘Pages’ in the dashboard, I see that it created pages named Activity, Forums, Members, etc. However, clicking on the ‘view’ link takes me to an undefined URL like ‘/wordpress/activate’. I can edit the page from there; it’s blank. If I add some text, like ‘test’, it saves it, but when I click ‘view’, it takes me to the same ‘not found’ url /wordpress/activate.
If I look in the wp_posts table, I see the ‘activate’ page, with a guid of /wordpress/?page_id=9
Loading that url redirects to /wordpress/activate, which does not exist.November 2, 2012 at 8:16 pm #144434danzigism
ParticipantNevermind. Pretty silly question! Just need to go to http://www.domain.com/activity-streams and it shows exactly what I want in the correct order.

Participant@grantnieddu I would suggest checking with Thesis theme forums re BP compatibility. I recall mention of a plugin ala BP template pack for Thesis or the BP compatibility files available. I imagine that many Thesis theme users would have brought that up in their forums.

a-swede-in-greece
BlockedThe spam comment by “panlong” is still here after 2 weeks and 5 days…This says a lot about BuddyPress I think. We have started up a new site with BP, still not ready, but I think we’ll have to close it because of all spam members and spam activity, if we can not get help how to stop it. It’s UNBELIEVABLE how much spam we get. Three persons had made 100 membership each as well!!!
This Akismet plugin is for comments, but this is not so much needed as you can have comments with moderation.
I really think spam protection should be included from the beginning in the BudyPress plugin!
Another issue as well is that someone made a group without showing who created it. It doesn’t show up in the activity stream, even if I filter “created a group” either.Something else, the page forums doesn’t show up. It says:
The forums component has not been set up yet.

ParticipantSo from the explanation of both @modemlooper & @mercime the understanding in minimal terms is the following:
Every BP page I drop into my WP child template will override the core file as it does presently. And in order to create my page I simply drop in shortcodes to develop my page.php, then I apply my CSS to style & design my page. Question – are there already shortcodes in place that I can create a page.php with? Please explain what @r-a-y is saying with using user_nicename. Why would someone want to create a template for a specific user?
`/wp-content/themes/twentytwelve/buddypress/members/single/home-{user_nicename}.php`and how would you do that without making a huge mess in your template directory?
Also this would explain how to create different templates for different groups?
For instance:
`/wp-content/themes/twentytwelve/buddypress/members/single/home-{group ID = 1}.php`Is that correct?
Using these files one could create their own fully templated BP site?:
`’activity/index’‘blogs/index’
‘blogs/create’‘registration/activate’
‘registration/register’/* Ignore these
‘forums/single/forum’
‘forums/single/topic’
‘forums/index’
*/‘members/index’
‘members/single/activity/permalink’
‘members/single/home’
‘members/single/settings/capabilities’
‘members/single/settings/delete-account’
‘members/single/settings/general’
‘members/single/settings/notifications’‘groups/create’
‘groups/index’
‘groups/single/home’
‘groups/single/plugins’`November 1, 2012 at 7:28 pm #144392In reply to: Multisite option not working with Buddypress?

ParticipantWhen deactivating Buddypress, I still could not create a subdomain. I will go to their support forums and try and get a solution.
thank you very much for your help
November 1, 2012 at 7:04 pm #144389In reply to: Multisite option not working with Buddypress?
@mercime
Participant== I successfully set up Multisite with my Buddypress site and everything looked like it was working well until any members tried to create a new site. ==
Deactivate BuddyPress and make sure that you can create subdomain/subdirectory sites without any issues. If there is, please resolve multisite issue first before activating BP again – https://wordpress.org/support/forum/multisite
If you can create subsites in your WP install, then activate BuddyPress plugin only, go through the BP Installation Wizard — make sure you choose pretty permalink and choose for BP-default theme. Then create a blog/subsite and check if subsite is working.
November 1, 2012 at 6:34 pm #144386In reply to: 1.7 theme defined
@mercime
Participant@famous BP 1.7 is not due anytime soon. There’s just still so much more to be done and everything should be settled and tested before any documentation is finalized/released. So if you’re going to launch this month or early next month, recommend either create bp-default child theme OR use WP theme with BP Template Pack plugin OR use BP-ready WordPress theme.
The most basic rendition of BP components will just be like how the bbPress plugin forums are rendered with very minimal effort on your part and you can add customizations via shortcodes, style.css or functions.php files. That’s all there is to it. The trac ticket seeks to provide options for developers to customize the structure of each BP component page further, among other things.

ParticipantWell, I don’t know if what I did was a good thing of not, but seeing this error:
Strict Standards: Declaration of BB_Walker_ForumAdminlistitems::end_lvl() should be compatible with BB_Walker::end_lvl($output) in /home4/edgeofth/public_html/thewhirlpool/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-forums/bbpress/bb-admin/includes/functions.bb-admin.php on line 1285
I went to this file, and to line 1285, and the only thing on that line was this: “}” Not really knowing what I am doing, I went ahead and deleted it, seeing what would happen. I re-uploaded the file, and then refreshed the page. All those errors are now gone.I don’t know if that’s a good thing or not.. Hope somebody here can tell me
