ParticipantIts ridiculous you are bound to be loosing users that give up in frustration because they cant find their answers – or the same questions gets asked over and over for the same reason wasting resources. And I just started a new thread exclaiming the same because I couldn’t find this thread – I had to use google which returns lots of links to plugins about forums or about search functions.

ParticipantHey @djpaul we might be talking cross purposes, I’ve likely not given you the correct info – it is now sending emails for forum replies

ParticipantFinding that the rule for http://www.mywebsite.com/groups/*/forum/topic/* with all cloudflare options off is working (at least for now) it means that the topic pages are not cached – so slower, but fingers crossed I’ve just sorted out a problem I’ve had for a year!
Still open to other suggestions.October 18, 2012 at 9:00 am #143643In reply to: Notification emails not sending

KeymasterI’ve just checked the code, and BP doesn’t send any emails from forum activity. We explicitly send emails for the other types of activity you’ve mentioned.

ParticipantHi @mercime,
Thank you for the reply. I have to admit that I didn’t, I just dived in and started trying to match the file layout in my theme! I should have had a better look, so thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
The theme is wp clear and there is a link for it. The forum post is for a slightly older version, but I’m sure it can’t be that different so I will have a go at making those changes to get it working.
Thanks for your help, I will let you know how I get on.
Cheers,

Participantyup, same codebase and same database.
yup – only missing emails seem to be: when someone replies to a forum topic I started or took part inOctober 18, 2012 at 3:22 am #143625In reply to: Post sticky in all group forums with one topic
@mercime
Participant@raphadko aas r-a-y mentioned above, it would require custom development.
Simplest way to add a notice is to create a function where you can add/revise the announcement/s and hook it into `do_action( ‘bp_before_group_forum_content’ );`
OR
copy over https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.6.1/bp-themes/bp-default/groups/single/forum.php into your theme folder wp-content/themes/yourthemefolder/groups/single/forum.php and add/style announcement on line 2 or line 4 of that file. It will show up in all group forums but won’t show up in Forums Directory list of topics.October 18, 2012 at 3:11 am #143622In reply to: Editing Group and Forum page title tags

ParticipantI got this guys, here is the code I ended up with..
Code:function my_page_title( $title) {
global $bp;if ( $bp->current_action == ‘forum’ && $bp->action_variables[0] == ‘topic’ ) {
return bp_get_the_topic_title(). ‘ | ‘ . bp_current_action() . ‘ ‘. bp_get_current_group_name(); ;
}
else
return $title;
}
add_filter( ‘bp_modify_page_title’, ‘my_page_title’, 10);October 18, 2012 at 2:33 am #143619In reply to: Member Profile Not Displaying Correctly

Participant@cspinillo looks like you don’t have BuddyPress activated anymore.
As to your issue, read how to make your Chameleon theme compatible with BP https://buddypress.org/community/groups/installing-buddypress/forum/topic/buddypress-compatibility-and-chameleon-theme-elegant-themes/

KeymasterIf you’re doing anything new with forums, use bbPress 2 (aka Site Wide Forums).

ParticipantThanks Ben – I’m beginning to figure this out. I looked at the bbpress site and their forum “home” page” is pretty much what I am looking to do. It looks like formatting/layout within my theme (salutation) will be the main challenge. Thanks again for your input.

Participant@billmc site wide forums use bbpress theres more info there but i found the process pretty strait forward personally for site wide forums and topics i think you’d want to use separate forums in the main forum list for your categories. check bbpress.org for more info on that stuff.
any group or site wide forum post should generate an activity entry.

Participant@modemlooper said 4 days, 6 hours ago:
To change slugs you change the page name and URL for that page in the WordPress admin.That worked perfectly. Almost. It seems that links in the activity feed still reference “groups” as opposed to the new slug so for instance the link should be something like this:
http://www.mysite.com/newslugforgroups/groupname/forum/topic/newforumpost/
instead the groups slug somehow persists and reads like this:
http://www.mysite.com/groups/groupname/forum/topic/newforumpost/
And this above link generates a 404 page not found error.
Old slug: groups
New slug: newslugforgroupsThis seems to only occur in the activity feed – everywhere else, your suggestion seems to work just fine.

ParticipantOhh, I should add that this plays nicely with tinyMCE advanced and probably also with Ultimate tinyMCE and other editors.
The user should be allowed to use the editor as per the setting Users -> user -> Personal Settings -> Visual editor in the Dashboard.
Cheers

ParticipantI am very sure. I am not having a problem making the profile page a home page, My problem is making “My Profile” show up in my component directories. On my components page it says “Associate a WordPress Page with each BuddyPress component directory” I would like to add “My Profile” to this component directory.
Currently I have “Activity Stream = activity, Discussion Forum = Forums, Groups = Groups etc..
How can I do this, sorry my english not so good sometimes.

Moderatorsolid_snake this weekend was the first ever BuddyCamp which may be part of why your responses were slower to get responses. However, this forum is made up of volunteers. Nobody is paid to respond to you, we all do what we can but we all don’t know everything or have unlimited supplies of time.
I know your issues is really important to you but starting threads with capital letters won’t get anyone to help sooner. It will unfortunately put some people off and that doesn’t help you get things done sooner. This is a community.
You would to do what you want need some custom script and this may be why responses have been slower to get to you. I myself don’t have a solid answer but I can give you a starting point of looking at : https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/the-bp-global/. I do this in order to show you that whilst people may not be responding your not being ignored.
