ParticipantIf you changed you server, you probably changed your wp-config file.
If you publish in groups you have activated group forums. Even if you don’t use bbPress as plugin, BP use his built-in bbPress and create a bbconfig.php file.
You have to look if this file exist and search for your old server settings to transform them to your new server reference. To answer 3) “If a directory install, is it in root or in a subdirectory? = unsure”
Wordpress should be at the root of your site (recommended install)
Something like server_path/htdocs/<— this is the root folder (this folder belongs your host)
And here all wp folders ad files (but not in a folder called wordpress)
If you use htdocs/wordpress/wp folders and files, it’s a subdirectoryAugust 23, 2012 at 3:26 am #140027In reply to: Videos Not Embedding

Is this correct? I can embed video via a link in Group Forums.

MemberBuddypress can run an unlimited number of members out of the box. Yes, there are lots of tweaks you can do to the software, but the real issues are going to be with your hardware. You really need to have someone that knows servers.
While technically possible, in my opinion BP should never be run on a shared server. Once you pass a couple thousand members multiple servers will most likely be needed.
The number of members is a poor matrix for judging a sites success (or needs). It completely depends on the type of site. Some use BP social features as the main component to their sites, others may just use it as a add-on, like a support forum. It also depends on how much media you use. Some sites use very little while others use lots of pictures and video.
PS
We run around 1.5 million unique visitors a month using BP.August 22, 2012 at 6:04 pm #140005In reply to: Videos Not Embedding

ParticipantNotices fields are texturized. This means that html insertion is difficult and in fact not possible/not recommended. But you can post video links in forum topics or blog posts.
If you wanr to use many video links, give a try to BP-Links witch is better tailored for community usage as “want to say something, x ?”, intended for global messaging, not for content publication.https://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-links/forum/topic/buddypress-1-6-support-and-the-future/

Participant@haraldo88 either a theme issue or a plugin conflict because I don’t recall any issues with this in the days of BP 1.5+. Change to bp-default theme and see if error is corrected. If not, deactivate plugins except BuddyPress then check if you can reply to forum post.

Participant@aindreas Based on the HTML structure of your theme, you will be only need to create two new files, header-buddypress.php and sidebar-buddypress.php to make the BP templates compatible with your theme.
If you’ve revised any of the BP template files transferred to your snapwire theme folder in server during the BP Compatibility process, please delete the 6 BP folders transferred to your snapwire theme folder in server – /activity, /blogs, /forums, /members, /groups, /register – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility again to make sure that you have clean template files.
A. COPY your theme’s header.php and Save As > header-buddypress.php
Open up header-buddypress.php and at the BOTTOM of the file, below other code contained within, add this:
``Not sure if the breadcrumbs will work here, but if there’s an error, delete the last line (breadcrumbs) above.
Save file.

ParticipantNo you’re at the right place

Answer from @JJJ here (since BP 1.3):
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/custom-profile-field-limit-to-5-numbers/And BP 1.6 introduces ‘multi_format’ parameter to xprofile_get_field_data(), so that themers can return comma-separated values as an option (source: BP codex)
But no idea at this time (no doc for this in codex) on how to use this in your case. Sorry.
Try to ask @modemlooper ?August 22, 2012 at 2:49 pm #139984danbpfr
Participantplease post questions one by one.
For the question about template, it seems there is something wrong from within it. As you know also, you paid a $60 licence to use the Huddle themeforest theme. This price includes support and you have to ask them first for disfunction and updates, not here.
FYI, the last update of the theme is 21 August 12. Did you use this update ?
Same question to @travcentralenFor the second question about retrieving profile fields automatic links, i don’t know, but please search a bit on this forum. I saw a similar one in the past 3 days….

Memberhttps://buddypress.org/community/groups/welcome-pack/forum/topic/making-links-live-in-html-emails-generated-by-welcome-pack/ – Found this other post related to this topic.
So is there any possible way to get the activation link to work in the email? Is there some other code we can use to accomplish this purpose? Workaround? I tried the Unconfirmed plugin but it does not fix this issue. Perhaps there is another way (unfortunately without the Welcome Pack) to change the standard Buddypress emails and thus keeping a working activation link?
I am not much of a programmer but I do know that most everyone needs to change the automatic emails being sent out (activation, friendship request, etc.) for BuddyPress. It should be easy to change this text, add your logo, and even add html. However, I have yet to see a plugin or update which makes this possible. I would love to know if anyone has found a solution for this?
Paul is very busy so perhaps the other people interested in getting this working can help? Thanks in advance for any and all replies! – Quote: 1+1=3

ParticipantYes, it hits me in the face too. My users post to the activity stream all the time. I have my groups page as the default static page for my site. When users click on the groups they are presented with the default home page and the what’s new box, so post in that. Don’t get me wrong, replies can be added. But I think it would be much nicer if users were directed to the forum page instead. There are instructions within the support forum for making the forum page the default landing page for groups, but none of them work for me.

Tanya
ParticipantHi @Chouf1,
I have been googling for the past 2 hours, so I thought I might finally give the forums a go.
I am already using my own theme – I have my sidebar-buddypress.php ready to insert code I need to add these links. Once I have the links I’m ok with styling it. I don’t think I need to set up a widget as I can directly edit the php file in Coda.
The problem is, I don’t know what the code is and that is what I’m looking for.
Hope that clarifies it a bit more.

ParticipantHi @pjtna,
There are many ways to accomplish what you want, depending essentially of your php/html knowledge.
First thing you have to do anyway is to create a child theme.Second, IMO, the easiest would be to create a widget with help of the TextWidget delivered with WP and phpexec plugin. This plugin allows to insert php, css and HTML into the TextWidget. No need then to hack into the sidebar file.
Note: you can search on this forum with Google. Use `buddypress.org: your search terms`
This would bring you many answers.
And apologize if I push an opened door

KeymasterYou can use bbPress 2.1+ today with BuddyPress 1.6+. It works great for new sites, but if you’ve got existing group forum content you’d need to migrate, I’d hold off until bbPress 2.2.
I don’t know about the other details; I know JJJ spoke about them, but not sure what’s decided. I imagine any new features would be released incrementally.
BP group forum specific plugins will become incompatible, yes.
