Hey there. Here’s what is happening. When a member posts in the bbPress forum, and uses the BOLD application, or let’s say, creates a bullet list from the menu, it shows up like this in the bbPress forum itself.

Also, when I click “notify me of follow up replies via email” the email I receive looks like this as well.

I get this is a bbPress issue. I’ve messaged them as well.

What I’m doing at the moment is running a mobile specific theme, my main wordpress theme just does not scale down right. By running a theme switcher I’m able to have a mobile specific setup that works a lot better overall.

Regarding mobile devices in particular the button styles used in the current BuddyPress template set is not ideal, I’m hoping this will improve with Nouveau. What I do on the mobile side is I tend to place all the main bp options in the main menu, which with my theme works pretty well.

I think you have to be very careful with what features you offer on mobile, the bbPress forums for example don’t work that well, you can get the basic members pages to work, have chat, basic groups with activity feeds but trying to do much else gets very difficult with mobile.

NOTE: I posted this on March 27 then realized it was posted to the “Installing BuddyPress” forum. Please ignore this post and see the “How-to and Troubleshooting” forum.

Just search the forum for past suggestions, this thread for example explains how to change the menu ordering:

BP 2.6.1.1 – Object of class BP_Core_BP_Nav_BackCompat could not be converted to string error

Actually I don’t think my way will work, it only lists out the groups that the user is a member of, not groups created by you. You could ask the plugin creator to add a feature to the BuddyPress Extended User Groups widget. http://www.buddydev.com have a support forum and generally welcome suggestions for plugin enhancements.

I’m not even sure David’s suggestion is going to work for you, are you thinking about making this feature available for others to use?

    Hi,
in my private, user-login BuddyPress Community with groups, forums, activity-stream, I´m just integrating a blog, in which everyone should be able to create posts and comments, without having to wait for approvement!

    Here is my first problem:
A participant can´t comment on an post, created by admin:
    “Your comment is awaiting moderation.”
Even in the settings/discussion, “Allow people to post comments on new articles” is set!
I also can´t find any other option, which could feed to this problem!

    Second:
People should be able to create posts in the frontend, that it is not necessary, that they logg in into the wordpress-backend.
Can anyone suggested a plugin for that?

    nice greetings and thousand thanks
    Sandra

    Hello all,

Sorry if this has been answered before. I promise I tried to search the forums first. I saw similar situations, but not exact.

Twice now, I’ve had a user register on the site, verify their email and even upload a profile image… Then they are somehow able to send one of those hokey Nigerian Prince messages to every member of my online community of thousands of members. The entire thing seems more of a manual process for the spammer than an automatic one, but I guess I don’t know. For me, this is humiliating.

    1) How is this spammer doing this?
    2) How can I stop it from happening?

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!

    Hello again.

Thank you for the quick reply. My site is https://www.accessibletravelforum.com/activity/

I use BuddyBoss for my theme. I changed to the Twenty Fifteen theme and it was fine there, so it seems to be a BuddyBoss issue.

I played around a bit more and seem to found the possible bug:

The filter selector “activity-filter-by”. It defaults to “Everything” but seems to be a bit off.

    Duplication:

    1. Load activity stream normally and, as discussed before, there are duplicate updates.
    2. Change the filter from the default of “Everything” to something else ie “Posts” (the activity stream updates as expected)
    3. Change the filter back to “Everything” and it shows everything again BUT now all comments etc are nested and there are no duplicated comments.

So, it appears that the original “Everything” filter is not working correctly.

Again, it didn’t happen for the normal Twenty Fifteen template, so this seems to be a BuddyBoss bug.

I have reached out to BuddyBoss support for help. But, in the mean time, can anyone suggest a way to fix this?

    Thanks again!

I don’t really understand what you are saying. I tried to recreate what you did but I could not follow exactly what you meant. You should be able to configure this t correct the issue.

Did you create a “Group Forms” category to hold all of your group forums separate from the other forums? if that the parent board you are talking about? If so you should be able to change that in the Dashboard>>Forums page.

    Check out this page: https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/

There’s no private messaging here. Did you take a look at this page?

You should raise this on the BP Group Email subscription forum.

Would it be safe to delete the /bp-forums folder entirely since I am not using forums?

Make sure you’re seeing what your subscriber users see. As a site admin, you can see everything. As a limited user, private forums don’t show up, unless the user has access to it.

    Hi @dcavins

    Thanks for your reply.

Actually the private forums do show up in that list too when you make updates in them.
Is there any way you could turn the whole shabang off so no updates are shown in the root forum?

    kind regards

Forums created in association with private or hidden groups are created as private forums. (They’ll only show up in the big forums list if you can see them.) Forums associated with public groups are not private–anyone can visit your-group/forum. They will show up in the big list. Visit /wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=forum to verify that private forums are set to private.

The forum functionality is provided by bbPress. I’m not aware of any plugins that add the feature you’re requesting, but the bbPress forums are probably a better place to ask:

If you are asking about bbPress, try the bbPress forum.

If you’re asking about removing the BuddyPress email verification step for new accounts, there are several plugins that do that:

    BP Disable Activation Reloaded

    BuddyPress Auto Activate Auto Login
