    Tried also to install WP Mail SMTP that was suggested here in the forum somewhere. Same problem. Seems a problem with Buddypress 2.9.2 – when Active no emails are going out …

    @needynoipe Unfortunately, we don’t have the source code of that premium theme to help you out. The best place to ask is at the theme owner’s support forums.

    @ademelo You mean BuddyPress was bundled as a premium package? As to the Keymaster role, that is controlled by the bbPress plugin (which might have been bundled as well).

    Normally to remove a person as Keymaster (with bbPress), you would go to wp-admin (backend) and click on the Users link on the left panel. Check the box beside the name of the user you would like to demote and then at the top of the table, on the second select box, change from Keymaster to Subscriber or whatever role you want. Same goes for the person you would like to promote, check the name of user in the table, then change to Keymaster in the second select box. By the way, you can have more than one Keymaster on bbPress forums.

    Thanks for this, sorry for the delay – I don’t get email replies for this forum.

    So … this is code I would paste somewhere in my default BBPress template (I have one called bbpress.php)?

    If so, where should it go?

    It’s not possible to use a regular BP profile field to keep track of data changes over time. BP doesn’t keep records of old profile field values – it only stores the most recent one.

    There are a number of ways you could accomplish it. If you had the technical know-how, you could build a tool that hooks into XProfile and syncs user-entered data to another system (maybe an array in usermeta or something like that). Another option is to manually created new fields every 3 months, but then you’d need to do some customization to the way fields are displayed on the front end so that the profile doesn’t show all past entries as separate items. Either way, some customization would be required.

    Maybe someone on this forum knows of an existing tool that will help.

    I am aiming to make this a modern fully functional forum website that does offer the same if not more functions then most commercially available alternatives and prove that BBpress is capable of providing everything we need to create a full-fledged forum.

    As I am not a programmer I have been cutting and pasting for so long that I now start to get a basic understanding of php, but still only cutting pasting and making minor adjustments.

    I am almost ready incorporating all features I need, as soon as that is done I will once again rewrite all code to tidy it up and try to make it into a theme for others to use.

    I hope my effort shows those looking for software to make a forum that BBPress is capable and with wordpress in the background potentially better then anything you can buy.

    Hi @boonebgoges and thanks for replying.
    I get what you are saying, its just that I am maintaining this site for a bunch of friends for their forum. basically no other feature of buddypress is used. I try and keep my efforts at a minimmum as its an unpaid favor I am doing them. So for the last few years all I did was keep WP and themes + plugins up to date.

    What I am looking for is the solution with the least effort 🙁

    Still, do you have some pointers where to start? Some links I could read up or tips what to do and check?

    What to do about this budypress message about the outdated template pack? I googled those terms and found some old posts from a few years back, mentioning some BP template pack plugin but that seems outdated information.

    Say I can solve this outdated template pack, can I then keep using the buddypress default theme? I did improve it by adding some css but that is the only change I made to it.

    I’d suggest starting a topic at https://bbpress.org/forums – bbPress is the software that is responsible for creating the index at /forums/, and the folks over there will probably be able to give better advice about how to limit what appears there.

    It is that: site.com/forums (under construction at the moment)

    There is an option on the Dashboard to allow Forums for User created Groups, which then directs to the main Forum page (created and directed to Forum/”Groups”, by me as the Admin) and within are the subtopics created by the Users.

    If the case isn’t a BP issue I will also ask the Theme support. Any insight would be appreciated here too! Thanks.

    Can you give an example of what the “main forums page” URL looks like? Is it example.com/forums? (BP itself is not responsible for creating a page like this, so I want to have a better idea of where I can send you for help.)

    2 weeks later, I’m still stuck with the same displaying problem. On the template creator’s forum, I asked the same question, and got this answer:

    Any particular reason you’re using a top margin here?
    body.single-item.groups #buddypress div#item-header #item-header-cover-image #item-header-content, body.single-item.groups #buddypress div#item-header #item-header-cover-image #item-actions {
    clear: none;
    margin-left: 0;
    margin-top: 225px;
    max-width: 50%;
    }

    It seems it’s a good clue to fix my problem, but here’s the thing: since I’m a newbie with CSS, I have no idea where to find these lines and modify them. I suppose I have to change “225px” to “0” — how/where can I edit this line?

    Thank you very much for your help, much much appreciated!

    In reply to: Group Sticky

    Exact location of this depends on your theme, of course, so this is based on themes that are using BP Legacy.

    When a group admin views the single forum post, at the top of the post you should see the date on the left and then options at the right: CLOSE | STICK | MERGE | BIN | SPAM | REPLY – just click on STICK.

    This will stick it to the top of the group’s forum.

    Hope that helps

    These are the BuddyPress forums.
    The bbPress forums are on another site.

    Hi @nikelaos – The bbPress forums are here: https://bbpress.org/forums/

    I’m unsure how or whether bbPress allows custom language overrides, so I would suggest asking there. Thanks and good luck!

    I wholly agree with the sentiments of the guy who posted this.

    I think bbPress and BuddyPress are, frankly, appalling offerings to ordinary WordPress users.

    They may well be excellent tools for developers, but they are the most user-unfriendly bits of software I have encountered in WordPress. Indeed, they make me wonder whether WordPress is for users anymore, rather than professional developers.

    It simply should not be this complex, and dismally supported, to have a forum on WordPress.

    I agree wholly with the view that there should be a premium paid-for service with a solution aimed at WordPress users – that is people who create editorial and run a site. Not the professional developers, who can look after themselves.

    It does not surprise me that outfits like Wix are growing given this direction of WordPress. If it is for developers only – who hone their marketable skills doing this stuff – then fine.

    For an ordinary user, who is not totally useless on WordPress, I have found this BBPress / BuddyPress combination utterly toxic and a waste of time.

    Good day Boone,

    We have disabled the plugin altogether and plan on not using it further. The issue still persists.

    We are also using Subway and have disabled that plugin as well in our dev website, the issue still persists.

    I could give you some login credentials for you log into our dev site but don’t know where to post it in this forum.

    Hello David,

    Thanks for you reply.

    Actually I am using already BuddyPress Docs, but for other purpose. I am using it to share files withing the groups. Also I am using the bbPress to have a forum inside the group for users ask for help and keep a conversations about some topic, however, I was looking how to create a wiki within the each group. I want to create the wiki because i want to create like a knowledge-base or central library with all the knowledge organized in a well manner. And I want that this is populated and maintain by the users. Do you know how can i do this? any paid plugin?

    Thanks in advance

    Kind Regards
    Ting

    I’d use BuddyPress Docs for this purpose, but I’m a fan of and contributor to that plugin. It’s great for creating organized shared libraries with tags and search ability.

    If you’d rather it be more forum-like, use bbPress.

    Support for Fusion is beyond the scope of these forums.

    Perhaps Avada requires the markup that you are using, however here is the usual way:

    <div class="bp-login-widget-user-avatar"><?php bp_loggedin_user_avatar( "type=full&width=200&height=200" ); ?></div>

    You might check the html that is returned in the avatar call; it may include code that is causing your layout issues. Or the css class that you’re using

    Note: you’ll probably get a more useful response from Avada support.

    Hi. I wonder if you’re getting a little confused as to what Super Socializer and BuddyPress actually do? Although they both allow people to have an account on your site, they’re not really the same thing.

    Super Socializer allows you to cross-post your own blog posts onto Facebook, etc, and to then amalgamate any comments back to the original blog post. But the important thing to note is that it’s only really about your blog posts.

    BuddyPress (with bbPress) allows you to have people create forum posts and send each other messages, completely independently of any blog posts you may make.

    Of course, Super Socializer would also be of benefit to a BuddyPress install as it would allow users to set up and log in to a BuddyPress account using their Facebook login.

    I’ve never used Super Socializer, btw.

    Hope that helps

    I can recommend the WooCommerce WooMembers bundle – allows you to limit access to the site and take monthly subscription payments: https://woocommerce.com/products/woomembers-bundle/

    It mostly works with BuddyPress (in that you can limit access to most pages and bbPress forum posts) but they do have work to do to make it fully protect a BP install, but it is on their radar.

    Hope that helps
