    The bbpress forum install isn’t part of the admin menu. You can put it there by modifying the menu though. I’m guessing that the second question means that you’d like your bbpress theme to look like your bp theme. Yes, you can. You have to create a new bbpress theme for yourself.

    You can find or create any theme you want for bp and bbpress. There isn’t a bbpress theme that looks like the default bp theme yet. As far as I know.

    One minor point.

    If you every reinstall & have implemented the Groups Forums you need to clean up the bp-groups-meta table otherwise you cannot turn the forums on for groups that have previously had forums. It took me about a day to figure that little “feature” out. :-)

    @Modemlooper Looks like you are using a non-alpha version of bbPress. The most recent alpha release is required to get this to work as it says on line 13 of the readme file:

    You *must* be running the latest alpha of bbPress and at least WPMU version 2.7 for forum integration to work.

    After you try with the alpha release you should see the XLMRPC options.

    I know Lance..

    But the site was working fine this morning and it crashed.

    I already checked the mu forum and no solution for this issue.

    Anyway, Thank You!

    Produlz,

    It sounds like a WordPress MU installation issue (not a BuddyPress issue).

    If you suspect a problem please report it to the support forums but you must include the information asked for in the WPMU bug reporting guidelines!

    There’s lots of threads on this very topic at https://mu.wordpress.org/forums/tags.php?tag=installation.

    To create a custom translation file just for the purpose of label changes, see my instructions in https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=1877#post-9927.

    To be honest, that’s all I did with my translation was change “Wire” to “Wall” for the BuddyPress setup at Tucson Digital Arts Community.

    Was the “There was an error posting that topic.” issue ever solved. Not using cookie integration. Have followed https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=471 with no success either.

    Hi Burtadsit

    I am using Core: 1.0-RC1 / Profile: 1.0-RC1 / Messages: 1.0-RC1 / Blogs: 1.0-RC1 / Friends: 1.0-RC1 / Groups: 1.0-RC1 / Activity: 1.0-RC1 / Wire: 1.0-RC1 / Forums: 1.0-RC1 /

    The base profile is fine, its when you add more user profile boxes like \”Age\” for an example.

    The guy that entered it did it to show how vunrable it is,he then sent me a message to let me know. I havent altered any of the filtering mechanisms.

    Before opening in POEDIT, open it in your fav text editor, lines 8 to 16 (assuming word wrap isn’t on) need to be filled in with your own values. Save and close

    grr i hate to be blocked by silly questions…

    i’m into one of my sub blogs (i use subdirectories), for example:

    http://mysite.com/sgruntblog

    if i put this link in the menu of header.php:

    <li><a><?php bp_site_name() ?></a></li>
    it always points to http://mysite.com/sgruntblog

    i need it pointing to http://mysite.com so people can reach the main blog from all the sub blogs.

    sorry: the forum strips my code: the content of the href is echo $bp->root_domain;

    BuddyPress is to build a social network! For a newspaper you can use a simple CMS.

    That drupal module looks strong, it has a lot of interaction with Picasa! However, I think photo galleries in a social network are more like a way to share moments rather than a tool to showcase personal work or store/backup images.

    Personally, when I use the photo galleries at Facebook with my friends is to share photos related to something specific (a party, meeting, birthday, old photos from school, etc). They have enough quality to be downloaded (but they won’t be useful if you want to work with them later).

    Using a third party service like Picasa or Flickr makes your site depend on other site to work, and forces your users to open an account on any of those services (users don’t like registrations, and even sometimes they don’t know how to link one account with other). I know this won’t be an issue for the average person in this forum, but future potential users will have problems, and we have to think every single thing to be as fool-proof as possible.

    If you are concerned about storage, maybe you can use a professional service then (like Amazon S3). But if it’s about privacy then it would be better if you don’t host photo galleries at all. Privacy is another thing that needs to be reviewed at BuddyPress!

    never mind, that was easier than I thought. had to do a hack in bp-core-widgets.php

    add this under the function: (function bp_core_widget_welcome)

    global $current_user;
    $username = $current_user->user_login;

    add this under the Create Account button: (line #49)

    <?php if ( is_user_logged_in() ) { ?>
    <div class="create-account"><div class="visit generic-button"><a hre f='/members/<?php echo $username; ?>/groups/create' title="<?php _e('Create a New Group', 'buddypress') ?>"><?php _e('Create a New Group', 'buddypress') ?></a></div></div>
    <?php } ?>

    how can i avoid a core hack on this one?

    EDIT: Had to put a space in the href in order to get the code to display somewhat normal in the forum. Make sure to remove that if you use this.

    Andy and Burt,

    Thank you very much! The file you sent me yesterday did fix the problem with my large thread. I’d set pagination to occur at 50 posts. Once I reduced that to 40 posts, the topic started working again (http://buglenotes.com/groups/free-for-all/forum/topic/79)

    One item to note, bp_the_topic_latest_post_excerpt() is still broken for large topics. See http://buglenotes.com/groups/free-for-all at the Obama Chronicles II topic.

    Hi, you mean in the buddypress front end or bb front end? Do you install this plugin: http://code.ourcommoninterest.org/2009/02/14/buddypress-group-forums-for-bbpress/

    It did the same thing to me before I’ve installed it on bp front end now its working but not in bbpress!
