    Register will redirect you to the homepage if you are already logged in, try another browser or private window to see the page if you don’t wish to logout.

    When I try to visit /miembros/ the page loads correctly, when are you expecting it to redirect to the members page?

    Not sure if this is a bug or just my experience.

    In Buddypress Groups member’s pages, the arrows and page numbers pagination links return the ‘No Members were found’ message in groups with more than 20 members – meaning you can’t see the other members. I have Buddypress 6.3 and WordPress 5.5.3. Happens with no other plugins active and no matter the theme (have tested Twenty Fifteen-Twenty).

    ‘Order by’ options also return ‘No Members were found’ message. Search does the same.

    I have tried BuddyPress repair tools. I even tried deleting ALL the other plugins (on the Staging site version). Nothing works – just seems broken.

    Here is a video of it: https://vimeo.com/479876989/00919cb869

    Can share a private link if necessary.

    Ok will do. Do you know of any plugin that you can recommend to make Buddypress Private and allows for approval required registration?

    “BP Registration Options” plugin makes Buddypress elements private, but it should redirect users to the registration page, not the home page so users know they have to login. Is that a bad plugin? Are there any other plugins that work?

    Some code on your site is makes the community pages ‘private’ and does a redirect to the home page.
    You’ll need to find that code ( theme? plugin? ) and change the target for the redirect.

    I’m running WordPress 5.5.3 running Executive Pro theme. Using Genesis 3.3.3.

    When a logged out user tries to access the community pages = Activity, Members, Groups, or Forum, it redirects them to the home page. I want it to direct them to the Register page so they know there is a community they can register for.

    In Settings > Buddypress > Pages I have the following set:

    Register > Register
    Activate > Activate

    When I click on “View” from there, it takes me to the home page (but I am logged in at that point since it’s the backend.)

    Please help. The activity page is here:

    Activity

    I am also running BP Registration Options in order to make BUddypress areas private.
    Thank you.

    I’m trying to send a private message to another user (or any user) and it gives me an error that the username is incorrect. I have tried several users and their usernames as well as full names. I have no dropdown or anything I’m just typing them in. Is there supposed to be a drop down? I need help with this ASAP we are trying to launch and this will hold everything up. I can provide login information in a private message, but it is not a current live site.

    If you are logged in you won’t be able to see the register page, use a different browser, private window or log out to see the register page.

    Using bp_message_thread_last_post_date. Does anyone know how to create a filter to change the time format from October 16, 2020 at 4:01 pm to Oct 16?

    I ran across this article but can’t make heads or tails of it.

    https://stackoverflow.com/questions/45837606/how-do-i-customise-the-last-reply-timestamp-in-messages-in-buddypress

    add_filter( 'bp_message_thread_last_post_date', 'fluffyKittenDate', 10, 1 );

    function fluffyKittenDate($oldformat) {
       // reformat date contained in oldformat here and return the new value
     }

    I’m not sure what to place as the new function and if I need to change $oldformat to something else.

    Thx

    Hi there, I am hoping someone can help. I have a buddypress website setup and I have the messaging addon working between members of the site. What I have noticed is that the images between 2 private members, if they share images between themselves are stored in the defauly media library which of course is not ideal from a privacy standpoint if all the images that are sent in private chats are appearing in the default media library area of WordPress.

    So I was wondering if there was a way for buddypress to store these images elsewhere other than the defauly media library of WordPress?

    Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    James

    Hello Best Team,

    I wanted to know if it’s possible to edit the private messaging so that the client doesn’t have to insert a subject before sending his message to his correspondent?
    The current version of the message subject is mandatory.

    Hi,
    when a user registers to my site, he gets an email with a confirmation link and registration code. But the link does not work, it sais “page not found”.
    The page is there, and I can open it in a new private window when logged in, but not from the email link. The registration code also works, I copied it into the field on the reg.page and it got confirmed.
    The “everyone is allowed to register” is ticked.
    I also deactivated all my plugins, didn’t make a change…
    Do you have any other ideas, where the problem could be or what I could try?
    My site is http://www.surf-mate.de – I’m using Astra theme, it also doesn’t work when changing to twenty-nineteen. I’m using wp Version 5.5.1–de_DE and BP version 6.3.0.
    Thanks… Benni.

    I am using BP Xprofile Custom Field Types. I have 3 sections including “required”, “optional” and “Seeking Friends or Dating”.

    A new member registered this morning and was unable to save the required info. I tested it and had the same problem, although I can save the other two sections. I created a new test member and have the same problem.

    Can you think of a reason that I can’t save the first section, but I can save the other two?

    Would appreciate any input. I have done a plugin conflict test, used BP repair tools, but not sure what else to try.

    Unfortunately, I cannot share the link with you since my membership is private.

    Thank you.

    Thanks for help!!!

    Hi there,

    I found out that the activity stream doesn’t show forum activity when the group is set to private. Is there any way around this?

    Hi everyone! I have a problem. One of my users when he sent a message using the private messaging feature receives a message saying “your message was empty” “your message was empty”. This was the first time it happened to him since before we were able to communicate using the private messaging feature. Can anyone help me with this problem? Thank you very much. Conceptually this is against the idea of “private” messaging.

    Hi @robbcapp, if you are logged in you can’t view the registration page, try and open it in a different browser or a private window where you are not logged in.

    @michelleraab
    are you experiencing the same issue as robbcapp?

    Hello,

    For what we want on our website its necesarry to have only private groups created by the users. I did a lot of reading about this but all forum post and information is over 8 years old regarding this matter.

    We need this because people will discuss personal en private information in the groups. To make it as simple as possible we look for a way to make the group creation like its only possible to create a private group.

    (it would be awesome if admin can create public or hidden groups)

    So, what do we have to do to remove the creation settings for hidden and public groups for our visitors/members? and ofcourse that it keeps working!

    Its not only removing the code form a file we think but also the setting that the private group is marked to get installed.

    Sorry for any bad english

    Regards

    Jap

    Hello all,

    my users have created groups more than 32 visible groups (1 public, 31 private) already but in the public directory only 17 of them are being displayed. I can change from alphabetical to newly created or anything else and indeed it updates the list but the total amount is always 17 only. Is there way to change this ?

    Thanks in advance,
    best

    Alex

    P.S.: I am using WP Version 5.4.2 and BP Version 6.2

    Hi there,

    I have 8 private groups, each with their own private forum. Is there any way I can display forum activities like replies and created topics in the group activity stream? I would like to use ‘BuddyPress Group Email Subscription’ plugin to notify group members on forum activity relevant to their group.

    WordPress version: 5.5.1
    BuddyPress version: 6.2.0
    bbPress version: 2.6.5

    Thanks!

    @warrencat,

    I have been hoping for a solution to this since 2017. I had to find excuses to force users to hit the save button. The issues that I’m not even importing some large user database in which this limitation becomes more problematic. I’m talking about brand new installation with new users. There is no reason that a new user should have to do this before visibility settings can be applied. It makes absolutely no sense. It’s ironic since Admins’ settings are subservient to a user’s interaction.

    And I thought this was a sensitive enough issue that it would have been resolved by now. I’m surprised that more people have not made noise. Apparently it has existed since at least 2013 (https://buddypress.org/support/topic/buddypress-x-profile-visibility-doesnt-work/)!

    Then another user brought this up prompting the creation of a ticket in the trac system which can be found here:https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/8093

    This ticket does provide a patch that fixes the issue for the profile details. However, in my case, a user’s last name is supposed to be private but since the last name shows up in more places than in the profile details (i.e. title tag), you are still left with a half-baked solution. But the moment you save, it works flawlessly.

    The issue is set to be fixed in version 7. Let’s pray.
