MemberI just found out that members and their profile appear when I switch to default theme. Does it mean that the problem is with my framework? What should I look for to fix it?

ParticipantWP/BP version? What theme are you using? If you’re using theme other than bp-default or bp-default child theme, then check if you have this file in your theme https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.5.1/bp-themes/bp-default/members/single/profile/edit.php

Participant@primitivpatriot re: http://www.trendkilleronline.com/members-3/TonyIsaza/profile/edit/group/1
Component page title should have the same slug i.e. “Members” page should be /members/ not /members-3/ So go to admin menu Pages > All Pages and delete pages titled “Members” then go to “Trash” and select pages titled Members and select “Delete Permanenently”
Now go to create a new Page titled Members and publish. Double-check page slug is /members/
Go to menu BuddyPress > Pages and associate Members component with the new Members page you created.
Change to bp-default theme and check that everything’s in order.December 2, 2011 at 6:59 pm #125448brotherkomrade9

Thank you. I discovered that the theme only supports one menu and it created a single menu on top. When I tried to modify the menus already there, the change did not take place after hitting update. I guess because the default theme doesn’t allow the change. I’ll just proceed with making a child theme either way since I am not happy with the blue color of the links of the default theme.December 2, 2011 at 6:10 pm #125443brotherkomrade9
MemberHello.
I have a Buddypress site using buddypress 1.5.1, bbpress 2.0.2, and WordPress 3.2.1.
I am hosting our site on Godaddy. The main files of WordPress are sitting the site’s root directory as to avoid the “/WordPress” in our url.Anyway my issue is this: we are using the Default bp theme. I know you are supposed to create a child theme to make changes to the theme, so I am trying to find the code of file where I can add a “tab” at the top of the page under the heading along with “Home”, “Forum”, “Groups”, “Members”, that would be titled, “About”. I want there to just be an “About” tab next to the home tab. If I have to make a child theme, where would I make this change OR should I just make a stick post?

Participant@stjack you mean you had the same plugins, same theme and same BP/WP versions and configuration before you moved to new server with same or better configuration? Then something could have been lost in the migration to new server – import of database or incomplete theme file uploads to server. Have you also tried changing to bp-default theme and check if behavior is corrected?

ParticipantSee: https://codex.wordpress.org/Settings_Reading_Screen
This doesn’t appear to have anything to do with buddypress.
Unless you have installed and activated (or plan to activate) the buddypress plugin you should really ask any further questions on http://wordpress.org or maybe http://themekraft.com/forums (as you credit their themes)…

MemberHi,
I am using a themeforest theme that has buddypress baked in – salutation. I have not messed with the achievements templates. (I have managed to bubble up the achievements into the forum though so you can see the poster’s awards)
Is there another way to browse the page to make the picture update?December 2, 2011 at 7:05 am #125425In reply to: example component issues with directories

ModeratorThe example difference of the screens are; one shows you how to bundle a template file and the other shows you how to add a screen using a function to out put the markup using a file called plugins.php
You should use the plugins.php method unless you really need to have a custom page. By using plugins.php you are ensuring your plugin will work with custom themes.

Participant== another theme(travel blogger 1.3.5) i dont see the post button for activities to be updated. also with this theme , bp reports only 4 registered members instead of 10 ==
@onyekat I will assume you’re using this Travel Blogger theme https://wordpress.org/extend/themes/travel-blogger
Just activated the theme in my test install and I see the “Post” button in activity stream (plus all other buttons) and the correct number of members are showing up. But there is a problem I saw so far: although one can post status update in activity stream but comments/replies on an activity stream posts lead to 404 error page. There’s JS conflict between Travel Blogger and BP.

ParticipantHi @modemlooper – I had come across your plug-in – maybe you can help me because I am not using the default theme so the buddypress menu isn’t there. Instead I have a jquery mega menu and I’d love to add the profile menu items to this. That would be ideal. Do you think this is possible?

KeymasterI’ve seen this happen before when someone made a custom theme (or customised the achievements template), and left out the get_footer() call. Does this apply to you?

ParticipantIt’s really difficult to diagnose what could be the problem without knowing the theme, or having a website link, or knowing what plugins, or edits to functions.php, etc, you might be using.
I would recommend using Internet explorer developer tools (press f12), Google Chrome (press f12) or firefox’s firebug add-on (press f12 after installing), or similar for other browsers, to try to identify which css rule(s) etc is/are responsible and to experiment with fixes….

KeymasterEasiest way without changing your theme templates would be to put all your register fields into profile group 1, and all your other fields into another group. By default, only profile field group 1 appear on the registration page.
If, however, your theme isn’t BP-Default (or a child theme of), I’ve got no idea.

@mercime
Participant@bluesalman got the message from Salman. Checked it and the issue on the buttons I remember was caused by the “`display: block`” in your WP theme’s style for `button` and `a.bp-primary-action span, #reply-title small a span`. Just checked your site a few minutes ago and the URL you gave is now a blank page.

MemberExactly the same for me if I click on a specific forum on here and then use the pagination links. I opened a thread about it on the troubleshooting thread, but cannot navigate to it to see if there was a reply!
I have had to hack my BP theme to remove ajax calls for pagination, and the dropdown selectors dont work either.
Pretty major bugs IMHO.
