ParticipantQuick update from me and my particular issue – I have moved my site and thrown a load of memory at it which works well in the short term, but there is a plugin conflict somewhere, I am going through an upgrade process before trying to work is out which is slow as it means a theme upgrade.

@mercime
Participant@oddzuki it might just be an issue with your custom theme. Change to bp-default theme.

ModeratorHow weird, I’ll test, sounds like a bug. Can you give more info on your install. What plugins and theme and versions of wp & bp
November 7, 2011 at 3:35 pm #123915In reply to: Activation Process messed up
@mercime
Participanthttps://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/unconfirmed/ – use this to view and activate unactivated accounts.
I have not encountered that activation issue before. To troubleshoot, I would:
– Deactivate all plugins including BuddyPress and change to Twenty Eleven theme. Check registration on regular WordPress install. If activation doesn’t work, resolve this first in WP forums and with webhost. If registration/activation works proceed to next step.
– Activate BuddyPress plugin only and change to bp-default theme. Check registration/activation here. If it doesn;t work, file ticket at https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/newticket (log in with same username and password). It activation works, proceed to activate your theme and other plugins then test again.November 7, 2011 at 11:30 am #123906In reply to: Admin Bar displays behind theme Menu Bar
@mercime
ParticipantLooks like you fixed it, adminbar is performing as expected in FF, IE, and Chrome.
I do see some style changes you may want to make starting with width of adminbar which is wider than the menu and you might want to add the following to your style.css file:
`#wp-admin-bar .padder { width: 940px !important; }`November 7, 2011 at 10:14 am #123903phirefly
Memberyeah, I’m thinking of this theme too (or a complete custom design). I’d like users to note their location in the profile & then be presented with relevant information (posts)…
Also thinking of this: http://premium.wpmudev.org/project/classifieds & getting someone to modify it for me (I’m not a developer!). These guys also have a “directory” plugin however it is not “buddypress compatible” but a few people have requested it (might be worth your while inquiring too!)

ParticipantI switched back to the bp-default theme to see what’s going on. The text at the end of forum posts is […] instead of [Read More], but it’s still dead text and not a link. But maybe that’s the default behavior?

MemberI think I’ve figured out the issue. Even though my screens.php file is listed in my includes method, for some reason the function “bp_announcements_screen_list” does not work (perhaps it isn’t being loaded?) If I change the value to a method in the component class (`’screen_function’ => aray(&$this,’ bp_announcements_screen_list’)`), I can echo a string and have it show up on the 404 page (at least I get one – before I got nothing). Now I just need to figure out where to go from here.
Edit: I figured out what was wrong with my screens.php – I had to copy my template files over to my current theme.

ParticipantThat sounds like a WordPress Multisite (sub-domain setup) with Buddypress running as front-end. The Buddypress main domain would be where you host your General content, then host the more specific content on the subdomain blogs. @Bowromir over at http://bp-tricks.com/ has always been a proponent of the subdomain blog having a similar look to the main blog, and as such has created a Multisite WordPress default theme: http://bp-tricks.com/featured/new-theme-bp-default-member-blog-multisite-communties/
You could then use a functionality like http://wpebooks.com/replicator/ to create the basic layout of one specific site you need (with the look and feel you want), then replicate that site multiple times, adding the specifics for each city.

MemberI wrote the theme myself.
Everything else seems to work except for the avatar upload – anything to do with any jquery or javascript files in the theme?November 6, 2011 at 4:18 pm #123863@mercime
Participant== Any idea how to fix it? ==
Which theme were you using? Have you tried to contact theme author?November 6, 2011 at 2:26 pm #123861prasanth-p
MemberI don’t think it has got anything to do with the plugins. Even when I have all the plugins enabled on the default theme everything works fine.
Thanks!

MemberYes, it works fully fine now. How do I fix my theme so that it shows up? On my theme for user display pic upload also I am facing the same issue. Any idea how to fix it? On firebug the form itself cannot be seen.

@mercime
Participant== i have incerted the code to get the buddypress to display properly with my theme weaver 2 ==
Are you referring to this weaver theme http://wpweaver.info/themes/weaver/?
And if by “inserting code” you meant you installed BP Template Pack plugin and went through the BP compatibility process, did you use the second method for making the theme BP-compatible? like this https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-ten-bp-1-5/#compatibility== the members show up fine but when i add pluging to buddy press to give more features to buddypress 1. Links 2 Albums the pages when these are clicked in the member bar puts the sidebar below the content cant seem to find where to fix this ==
If you use the second method (header-buddypress.php and sidebar-buddypress,etc) for BP compatibility process per link I posted above, then you won’t have to make further change to templates provided by Links/Albums pluginsNovember 6, 2011 at 1:50 am #123845@mercime
ParticipantChange to bp-default theme and see if same behavior applies.

ParticipantCheck how it’s done properly in bp- default https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.5.1/bp-themes/bp-default/header.php#L6 and in twentyten theme https://core.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/3.2.1/wp-content/themes/twentyten/header.php#L21

KeymasterYou’re using a custom theme. Take a look at https://codex.buddypress.org/releases/1-5-developer-and-designer-information/#theme
November 5, 2011 at 1:36 pm #123785Boone Gorges
KeymasterIt’s possible that the Custom Community theme is written in such a way that the JavaScript from bp-default will not work properly. If I get a chance sometime this week I may take a look myself, but I urge you in the meantime to contact the theme’s author. By changing some CSS selectors, the author may have broken this particular function.

trograin
MemberI followed thoose isntructions and what happened to me was that I can not see the forums at all now. The group forums part have been closed down since day one in the BuddyPressside on the components page. The site wide forums have been isntalled through bbpress. I am using forums as slug. I had a forums page and it letted me to see the forums structures ( not the whole one though with 3 layers of subforums but I think it had to do with theme side problems that should now be fixed with the new update we just got for Salutation theme few hours ago ( still waiting for my admin to uppdate to newest theme update) ). But when I deleted the Forums page and took it away from the Trash as well the forums disapeared totally. Yess I went to Permalinks and saved there even though Permalinks page did not need to be changed or anything, but still did it for the sake of it. Did not help. I can not see the forums at all now.
