In reply to: Language files deleted after upgrading #2

MemberI did this thinking that it would work like a child theme, but nothing seems to change… so I am assuming this is just for “storage”… ?
wp-content/languages/buddypress.pot
I’ve made a couple of changes in the language file but don’t see them on the site. No caching used.

ParticipantCreate a child theme of bp-default theme https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/
Copy over sidebar.php from bp-default theme into your child theme’s folder https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.5.1/bp-themes/bp-default/sidebar.php

ParticipantPagination on Members Directory is working for me.
The problem that I see is that your left sidebar dropped down to below content and comments div in your BP pages. Make sure you follow the instructions in Step 3 of the BP Template Pack compatibility process.

ModeratorJust as a sanity check you’ve set to use forums and you’ve gone through their set up process?
Perhaps resaving your permlinks ‘could’ also help? I’m thinking maybe you have a plugin or something that is also interfering but take it you’ve tried using the default BuddyPress theme and / or removing plugins to see?

ModeratorWhat would help would be to see a link to your site, is that possible?
You say there are a ‘few explanations’ I assume you mean error messages? If that is right can you paste them here to see what you are getting?

KeymasterIt’s meant to show a page with your forum topics and your forum replies on. Are you using a custom theme, or BP Default?

Participantedit – missing slash was only obscured in code. htaccess looks fine. deactivate s2member plugin and change to default theme, then run settings > Permalinks.

– What version of BP were you trying to activate in your installation? If you installed/upgraded to BP 1.5.1, did you go through the “Installation Wizard”
– How did you make your WP theme BP-compatible – via BP Template Pack plugin or other method?
– Are you on single WP or WP Multisite?
– I see that you have your Group Forums on as well http://richard-dickinson.com/forums/
– For the Sitewide Forums, did you add new forum in wp-admin > Forums > New Forum at least once?October 24, 2011 at 10:09 pm #122243In reply to: All of my pages redirect to Site Activity

Keymaster*Something* must have been changed. If you did not add, delete, modify, change or tweak the website’s files plugins, or theme(s), try contacting your web host to ask if the server crashed overnight, or similar

MemberIt’s simple enough to set up a separate install on a live host, you just can’t put both in the root directory, right?
I personally like doing all my initial install, configuration, development and testing using a local install, but before I go live I also like to try it out in the production server environment.

ParticipantOk, I seem to understand that the default theme comes with the above “wp_nav_menu” with a fallback to action, meaning the menu is built in “functions.php”.
So, if I delete the menu in the WP Admin, I get an automaticly generated Main Navigation, and the “highlight” tab works fine for all the pages under the same component. BUT, it does display ALL the pages, so how to choose what you want and in which order?
Otherwise, if you do use a custom menu build in the Admin, than you don’t get the “highlight” tab for all the pages under the same component.
I hope this is clear.
Probably I am missing some basic thing. Otherwise, there is a twist somewhere in the core, and I can’t believe nobosy brought this issue up.Anyone?
October 24, 2011 at 5:23 pm #122185@mercime
ParticipantYou can only use one version of WP/BP in multisite. If you do not want to use the theme switcher plugin or another plugin like so, you’d have to set up different installs like in XAMP and MAMP, etc.
October 24, 2011 at 4:51 pm #122184djoep
Memberhmmm… I think I might consider a completely separate install under a sub domain or separate path so I could also experiment with a completely different set of plugins, wordpress versions (like 3.3 beta), as well as themes. I am not familiar with MU to know if you can have such independence, for example, having two versions of buddypress installed at the same time.

ParticipantHi, Paul!
I got a fresh and clean install of both WP and BP, and it’s not working for me.
The weird think I noticed after the install is that the “header.php” file is calling a “WP Menu”:
` false, ‘menu_id’ => ‘nav’, ‘theme_location’ => ‘primary’, ‘fallback_cb’ => ‘bp_dtheme_main_nav’ ) ); ?>`
… but in the WP Admin > Apperance > Menus I didn’t have any menu that I could customize (add tabs, …) so I had to create one with the same name: “nav”.
Is that normal? And could this be anyhow related to my issue of having no automatic “highlight” tab for sub-pages in components?
Thanks for your help…

Participant@mercime Im using a small variation of the default theme. I’m referring to the members/single/home.php. It’s my understanding that the different member loops run through. It has the sidebar calls on it.
But what Im trying to do is have the normal 2 column for profile and a few others but I want a 3 column setup for the personal/friends activity pages.October 23, 2011 at 10:14 pm #122903Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterDid you keep the same folder structure? e.g. /wp-content/themes/zeebusiness/members/single/member-header.php?
October 23, 2011 at 4:27 pm #122909In reply to: 3 column setup for activity pages only.
@mercime
ParticipantPlease clarify what you mean. What theme are you using? What does your theme’s home.php file have to do with the 3 columns set up you want to activity pages but not the profile page?

ParticipantIf you can access wp-admin, change theme to Twenty Ten. If you cannot access wp-admin, rename the theme folder of parallelus-salutation to e.g. parallelus-salutation-xx via FTP/cpanel, etc.
