MemberI started a new thread on my issue as to not hijack lkgoldoe’s post. 1. WP Framework 2. Just installed the theme, hasn’t worked for me yet. 3. I’m using all internal attributes. 4. Seems anytime there is a Submit button present I get the error. 5. Jetpack is it. If you want to reply to the other thread that would be great! Thanks!

MemberI have the same problem but I have no clue what eliserochelle said, “Just realised I need to edit the widget section for the sidebar to show … oops,” meant about the widgets. Using the theme “fastFood” which is awesome, but very not buddy press friendly. My blog’s sidebar displays at he bottom, but there’s nothing on the side for buddy press. Please help!

ParticipantHuge thanks @hnla , I have changed template to default and it is quick like a hell –
now , so it is only a little bit css customization to turn “default” to black design (UNPLUGGED served only for colours , nothing else , UNPLUGGED THEME WAS a PROBLEM , thanks a lot !!! next time I will avoid using child themes , I like default with some little customizationJune 1, 2011 at 7:55 pm #113614Hugo Ashmore
Participanttry the process in reverse to find out what the cause is, activate the theme but no plugins and see how the site performs, if still ok activate plugins one by one checking each time to see how the site runs.

ParticipantThanks a lot @hnla , it is very helpful , I will work on it now , I think that I will delete all UNPLUGGED theme and will add all css in my default theme ,( “unplugged theme ” runs on “default” theme so it wouldn’t be so difficult , I have deactivated 30 plugins now , so I feel that it is much more faster with 30 plugins , I have realized that my website on internet explorer 9 is at least 3 times faster than mozilla 4 which from the start when I have installed it was very quick and now has some memory problems (slowly increases and takes 1gb RAM) so it is very slow for all my websites (maybe I got a virus) and unfortunately internet connection here in Italy is very bad for me now (NOT ADSL) 7.2MB – so my testing is very limited . Thanks a lot for your help !

Participant@naved I thought I had ?
/wp-content/themes/your-theme-name/footer.php
your-theme-name equals whatever theme you have installed and are using if you are using the bp-default theme then it’s in:
/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/footer.php
But you don’t really want to edit the core theme as the changes will be overwritten when you upgrade so one uses a child themeto make mods to bp-default theme files.

Participantactivate BP default theme disable all plugins except BP if you are still experiencing slow times then it’s your server that is the problem and that we can’t really advise on.

ParticipantIt’s slow on initial get request with times approx 8 secs ( that feels reminiscent of the issue I had that I tracked down to a WP DB update running) it’s hard to say, however, exactly what is causing this subsequent pages are better @ ~2secs. one thing that ought to be corrected; you are trying to call the reset.css file twice, BP is loading it ok through it’s @import but your theme ‘Unplugged’ appears to be trying to load it from it’s local directory and it doesn’t exist so that’s throwing a 404 error file not found and taking 13/5 secs to time out also there a few other 404’s that ought to be tracked down and corrected.
All in all there is a whole heap of script calls and css being requested, and is going to slow things down to a degree although browser caching should help that once the browser has initially downloaded and cached a file.
One thing your server doesn’t appear to be doing is using mod_deflate content encoding to gzip files before transfer, this does speed up file transfer by compressing contents and letting the browser unzip them it’s end, so maybe speak to your host and ask if it isn’t enabled could it be.

MemberTo mercime question above:
1. @afrey which theme are you using? Does the problem occur if you use the bp-default theme?
2. Is this a new problem (ie. forum worked great before, but now doesn’t?) or has it always been broken since you installed buddypress?
3. Are you using the internal forum shipped with buddypress or an external bbpress (standalone or the new beta plugin?)
4. Does it happen all the time or just some of the time? Any commonality of when it happens?
5. What other plugins are you running?June 1, 2011 at 4:53 am #113555In reply to: fatal error when trying to start new forum topic

Memberam sure its a clash between your theme files and the menu in BP? Am assuming you are aware that in order to get BP up and running, you need to have a BP theme… its different from any other wordpress theme… this might help you out: https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/

ParticipantDo you still have a plugin activated that modifies wp-login.php? If so, deactivate it.
Also check your theme’s main stylesheet to see if any styles are applied to div#login h1 a ‘cuz Firebug shows margins left & right:-90pxIf you can’t find anything, try adding the following to your theme’s stylesheet to override whatever’s causing those weird margins:
div#login h1 a {margin:0; !important}May 31, 2011 at 7:44 pm #113525In reply to: buddypress with si captcha and/or ReCaptcha

ParticipantProbably the theme does not have the proper hooks in it.
It was tested with BuddyPress Default 1.2.7 theme
Where do you get that theme? I can’t find it.May 31, 2011 at 6:47 pm #113589In reply to: Call to arms – Own your task

Participant@naved and post a liunk to your site so we can see what theme you;re using.
As hnla said, don;t paste long pieces of code liek that. and you;re looking in the wrong spot. that;s a core wp file which you will never edit. the linsk will show *dynamically* in your theme.

Participantin the theme folder that has your BP theme files. What are you actually running, is BP installed and activated, and are you using the default theme? if so the theme files live in the buddypress plugin directory but you shouldn’t edit them directly.

ParticipantIt’s simply that you haven’t followed the manual steps completely the bp pages lack the markup structure that your theme files have, there is a detailed guide in the codex that you can follow.
