In reply to: [Resolved] How to remove BP Template message
Jon Hansen
MemberI have manually edited several files to make Buddypress look great in my theme. However, my theme doesn’t have these tags, or I don’t know where to look.
Where should I put the Buddypress tag?

ParticipantFor example at the top of the twentyten theme’s style.css is the following line:
`Tags: custom-menu, sticky-post, microformats, rtl-language-support, translation-ready`
If you change it to:
`Tags: buddypress, custom-menu, sticky-post, microformats, rtl-language-support, translation-ready`
then that warning will go away.However that warning is to tell you that the theme isn’t buddypress compatible so it needs to be converted/updated.
This can be done by following the guide in the buddypress codex: https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/
Some themes, such as Suffusion, have their own conversion pack, so it would be worth checking to see if one is available first.

MemberHah! Found it. It was the forums index.php under the default theme. (bp-default > forums > index.php) Now to dissect it and see what’s up. I’m mainly trying to figure out how to filter forum posts by its meta-data, with or without ajax (whichever solution I happen upon first)

@mercime
ParticipantYour site has been compromised. You should not post admin username/password information in forums – and it’s been posted here for more than 7 hours. It would be safer to post a screenshot of the admin dashboard. I recommend that you backup database and server files, do a Tools > Export XML for good measure. Restart from scratch..Change username and password and upload clean copies of your theme and plugins.
What do you mean by you don’t see the Site Admin? I see the admin panel when I logged in with Site Admin priviledges for a single WordPress installation.

Member@mercime I am currently using BP-Widget Theme. I can’t use the BP-Default Theme because I get problems with my footer. I tried it with the BP-Default Theme, and the problem still persists.

ParticipantDeactivate all plugins except BuddyPress and change to bp-default theme, does same behavior apply? WP/BP versions?
May 4, 2011 at 4:52 pm #111588@mercime
ParticipantAside from style.css, what other files have you added in your child theme? If you have a functions.php file, what’s in it?

MemberThe problem appears to be theme related, as the error does not show on the BP-Mobile theme. @cnorris23 My WP_DEBUG is set to false.

Participant@JamieWade, I would ask this at the plugin dev’s site, whether BP Chat is set up to sniff out whether user is browsing from mobile device or not.

israelwebdev
ParticipantStopped being lazy and read the code.
Firstly, I wasn’t paying attention to the “domain” of the strings I was translating, which seemed to be in both buddypress and the theme.
BuddyPress language file had to be under wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-languages/, and be named buddypress-%locale%.mo (and .po) where %locale% is the configured locale, such as en_US
The theme (from WPMUDev) had its own language files/domain, and those had to be in the theme’s language directory, and called %locale%.mo (and .po), and then a comment in the theme’s functions.php instructed me to:
`/* uncomment if using custom mo / po file
function init_theme_localization( $locale ) {
return “en_US”; //must be same mo or po name in theme languages folder..it could be en_US or bp-en_EN etc
}
add_filter(‘locale’,’init_theme_localization’);
*/`Phew!

ParticipantTo prevent spam, the fonctionnality you want to use is not avaible. You can see tthe function in bp-messages-templatetags.php:522
Anyway you can add a button, which opens the send message page, but you need to add manually the user name.
Open from your_child_theme/groups/single/members.php
and add the function ` ` in the place you want.You can also learn to your user to use the profile page of their contact to send them a private massage.
The number of click to do this is the same i think.It’s your choice

ParticipantCreate first a child theme
insert a copy of template file ->bp-default /header.php
in header php, insert some html for your button – included with your the forum url – in the menu (take exemple from within the existing code to do that)After that activate your child theme in buddypres theme. Done !

KeymasterIf this is a new build, wipe it all clean again, and just install WordPress. Test that a default, out-of-the-box WordPress works fine. This means things like writing posts, editing posts, writing comments, changing theme, and — specifically — make sure you can customise the permalinks (Settings -> Permalinks, in wp-admin).

Boone Gorges
KeymasterI can’t tell for sure. If so, they’ve totally rethemed it from the bottom up – I can find very few CSS selectors that match what you’d expect in bp-default. But much of the markup looks like it’s derived from bp-default, and certainly about 3/4 of what they’re doing can be done out of the box with BP, BP Followers, and Achievements.

ParticipantYes, this is a know issue https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/3096.
It’s a WordPress bug and reported by DJPaul https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/16744May 3, 2011 at 8:29 am #111505In reply to: How To Remove Sub-Reply Button?
Brandon Allen
ParticipantTry this:
`function my_filter_activity_comment_reply_links( $content ) {
preg_replace( ‘/()(.*)()/g’, ”, $content);return $content;
}`Also, it should be noted that this code is not restricted to your bp-custom.php file. It can also go in your theme’s functions.php file.
