BuddyPress shows blog comments in default! Please check your settings in backend!
Hi,
Thanks for your replies.
Paul: I tried your welcome pack. After changing the text to Dutch iI still receive the notifications in English. I installed wordpress 3.0 with multisite and Buddypress 1.2.5.2
I’m guessing that if you can login with your facebook account, you can also login with openID.
Perhaps you can rewrite the plugin?
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-fbconnect/
Note: This plugin probably doesnt work with the latest and greatest WordPress 3.x and Buddypress 1.2.5.x
Hi, so I’m almost ready to launch my 1st wordpress mu>buddypress site.
My max expected as users:
users: 200 000
groups: 2000
blogs ( group blogs ): 500
Obviously I’m not expecting all that straight away, but say to be safe for the first few months, I get 25% of my max users/groups..
What kind of hosting package would I need to look at, with regards to:
Disk Space
Bandwidth
E-mail
Web Sites
Domains ( don’t think I need as all my blogs are sub-folders )
Here’s the host I’m looking at ( http://amplehosting.co.za/ ). The thing is I’m in South Africa and we are still a bit behind when it comes to internet. Like our isp’s have just started giving uncapped whilst a lot ppl here still have a cap ( once capped we can only browse local ) so they wouldn’t be able to see my site if they were capped hence im going with a local host.
Im using BM Custom Login: Display custom images on the wordpress login screen. Useful for branding.
Works nicely but if you going to use s2members, it has its own custom login screen aswell.
I’ve been using: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/dbd-login-style/
I haven’t been able to figure out the logo image and so I just overwrote this image: /wp-admin/images/logo-login.gif
I imagine with a different CSS you might be able to easily change it. If you figure that out, I’d love to hear since I hate core changes but was too lazy in this case.
We are trying to set up a main site powered by wordpress, and a secondary one with buddypress. We got to use WordPress MultiSite just fine, and were able to set up Buddypress to work with the secondary one. However, after activating it, we discovered the following:
On the secondary site, we get the following on the blos tab:
http://prssamembers.freehostia.com/wp/testmp/blogs/
Secondly, on the admin dashboard it is impossible to create posts or pages since you get a 500 Error.
Also, attempting to edit a profile or clicking to go to settings always sends you to the members tab.
We have WordPress 3.0, and have tried using Buddypress version 1.2.5.2 and the trunk version 1.3-bleeding. Both present the same issue.
I would like to get rid of the WordPress-Logo at the Log-in Page and at the Logout-Page and also change the colors for those pages.
Does anyone of you have implemented any White-Label-Plugin or is there any other way to customize the Log-in Page and and the Logout-Page in terms of colors and logo.
Not sure about re-directs and how this all works, just would need a simple solution being able to customize those pages in order to have a coherent website in terms of user-interfeace.
If there is no solution available for this, am I fine going ahead with changing the CSS from the file at: / wp-admin / colors-fresh.css /
Appreciate your kind help.
Many thanks,
Erich
Paul,
Oh! Much of that looks like features that are currently now built in to WordPress MU. To be honest, I just realized today that I never updated my BuddyPress blog to the newest version. I checked out some of the new features, and it looks like many of them work exactly like Multisite does. So I guess there is a way… just 1.5 months ago, there wasn’t exactly as simple of a way as there is now.
My apologies for bothering you with this newbie nonsense! But thank you very much for your response. (:
Regards,
Weasel

If you only want to change contents of the notification emails, you could see if Welcome Pack does what you want.
Hi there
Sorry we missed your original post. As much as I understand your question, the answer’s yes. Activate multisite on WordPress and away you go!
In all the big social communities in the internet, the warn you with a message when you click an external link outside the community, it’s possible to do that in wordpress?
Thanks everyone for testing it! If you’re having strange issues with your theme, then it’s probably something to do with your theme. I have made sure that it works with the default theme, but beyond that you may need to make some tweaks for your particular situation. I’ve also updated the plugin in recent days to display better quality avatars, as well as not to require any additions to your template in the install instructions, and a couple other minor things. I’m still waiting on the WordPress repo to give me approval for adding it over there. Once I get that, I’ll drop a note here so you can update to the latest version.
Please comment on the trac covering this error: https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/2456
1. False. We get it everyday in our bug tracker.
2. BuddyPress.org and testbp.org see substantial traffic, and our showcase includes other high traffic BuddyPress powered sites.
3. BuddyPress.org is powered by the trunk version of BuddyPress, and could easily be powered by any 1.2+ version with only modifications to allow it to run on the shared .org space.
4. BuddyPress is operated in a similar fashion as WordPress, and has the complete support of the core contributing team of WordPress. That’s actually a good thing.
5. BuddyPress uses the same license as WordPress does. That’s another good thing.

But thanks for the feedback regardless. Feel free to contact me directly if you have questions about why this topic was locked or any of our responses.
have a look at @boonebgorges plugin: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-external-activity/ and you could modify that to attach to usermeta vs groupmeta
The only prob im having is creating a blog from groups>example_group>admin>groupblog – if you select a existing blog, all goes fine. When you select to create a new blog I get the following error though it does create the new blog despite the error msg.
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in F:Programmesxampphtdocswordpresswp-contentpluginsbp-groupblogbp-groupblog-admin.php on line 23
Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at F:Programmesxampphtdocswordpresswp-contentpluginsbp-groupblogbp-groupblog-admin.php:23) in F:Programmesxampphtdocswordpresswp-includespluggable.php on line 890
I have a function that add some custom profile fields in to the user profile in the backend wp-admin/profile.php. This is WordPress only so do not get confused.
here you can find the function
http://justintadlock.com/archives/2009/09/10/adding-and-using-custom-user-profile-fields
There are four actions added.
add_action( ‘show_user_profile’, ‘user_show_define_category’ );
add_action( ‘edit_user_profile’, ‘user_show_define_category’ );
add_action( ‘personal_options_update’, ‘user_save_define_category’ );
add_action( ‘edit_user_profile_update’, ‘user_save_define_category’ );
The function will add a input field into the backend user profile of WP. /wp-admin/profile.php
What i am looking for are the equivalents of the WP show_user_profile, edit_user_profile, personal_options_update and edit_user_profile_update for Buddypress.
So that the input field will show up on the frontend profile in g.e. /members/username/profile and /members/username/profile/edit/group/1
so
instead off
add_action( ‘show_user_profile’, ‘user_show_define_category’ );
something like
add_action( ‘show_buddypress_user_profile’, ‘user_show_define_category’ );
First: I have not updated to WordPress 3.0 …
I used “root” instead of “admin” and I immediately replaced after the installation all text with “admin” in the database with “root”.
Hey all-
I’ve literally been searching for days and days so if anyone can help I would so appreciate it.
I’m trying to automatically show the post location near the author’s information. I would like this to be clickable so we can see all of the posts at that location. Specifically I just want the author’s country to appear. A non-Wordpress example is at http://fmylife.com.
I’ve added an xprofile field with a drop-down menu for all of the countries as a mandatory registration field and thanks to a post reply from @r-a-y have figured out a way to show the author’s country in each of their posts.
Is there a way to turn the profile field into a tag for the post?
Or, even better, is there a way to determine the author’s IP address and turn that into a tag? I know there are a lot of plugins that do this for visitors and put their locations on maps, etc. but I don’t know if they can be altered to work for the author’s.
Anybody have any thoughts or ideas on this? I would be very grateful.
Thanks and best wishes,
Kristen
Hey @modemlooper !
Thanks for your reply, but it doesn´t work… To remove the action bp_get_displayed_user_nav(), I need the hook to which the function to be removed is hooked.
https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/remove_action
I think bp_get_displayed_user_nav()… isn´t hooked anywhere!
Edit: Need a function like replace_action( $function_to_replace, $function_to_add, $priority, $accepted_args )!
Like str_replace in php, or something!^^
Are blog comments supposed to show in the BuddyPress activity stream? I see the drop down to filter for “Show Blog Comments,” but in my tests, it always returns that nothing is found.
I had played around with a plugin that counts activity (BuddyPress Member Profile Stats) and this plugin shows the correct count for number of comments made for my test user, but again, none of the comments will actually show up in the activity stream, filtered or not.
I’m using WP 3.0 and BP 1.2.5.2.
Is this issue familiar to anyone?
