you’ll have been sent an email with an account activation link, clicking that will activate the account and enable you to log in. (I have just done this myself using my WP3.0 test install).
Plz help ********************
@hnla could you provide an example of how to create a “child theme”? I am new to the WordPress/PHP community so I’m learning as I go here.
I have checked anyone can register box and trying with the small letter username.
The problem is not with user creation. I mean when do signup on my site user is created and i can see the entry same on my admin panel / users.
But when i try to log in the site with newly created user name and password it just doesn’t.
There are tons of different code edits in here. I am wondering which I should use for buddypress with multisite wordpress 3.0 and where to put it. I made my own bp-custom.php file, but it doesn’t seem to work. Is this file suppose to exist already? And if so it didn’t appear on my installation. :p At least not in the path wp-content/.
Thanks for your help.
– Dashboard / Settings / General: check anyone can register box
– username has to contain small letters only
I can create them from Admin panel but thats not what i want it to be. I have like 500 users for this community i m going to develop so cant create them manually from admin panel . user need to register from website itself.
@roham
Have a look at this plugin and see if it will work for you
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/s2member/
Ok, the page navigation links work such as “groups” “activity” etc…
What isn’t working is in my admin bar at the top, I can’t go to like profile, or edit profile, and such. It takes me back the the root page of the site every time.
My setup is on a fresh install of wordpress 3.0 with networking enabled, the only plugins I am running are BuddyPress and since I am having the problem, maintenance mode. My hosting is done through http://www.site5.com
My WP 3.0 install is in the root directory of my public_html folder.
website is http://www.redsfancentral.com
Okay, just re-reading this again. I don’t think you should use bp_core_signup_user().
For your custom script, you can try using wp_insert_user() and then add in the extra profile information later.
Or, you can try using the Import From Ning plugin, which also works with CSVs:

I recently upgraded to WordPress Multisite 3.0 from 2.9.2 WPMU and at the same time updated BuddyPress.
The forum topics seem to have disappeared:
http://amdram.net/forums
However they are still in the database.
Any ideas on where to start? Much Appreciated
@elizawhat – You need to finish your upgrade from WPMU to WP 3.0 properly.
Read and implement everything listed here:

I updated my current wordpress theme using the BuddyPress Conversion Template plugin or whatever it’s called. That worked except for the Page Titles on the sub-pages of buddypress all stay the same (the main title of the website) how do I get that to work, and how would I change the title structure?
@hnla
That page makes quite a lot of sense once you start to understand actions and filters and how they work on WordPress. If you don’t, then it can be confusing. I’m going to add a note at the top that links to the WordPress page for Actions and Filters: https://codex.wordpress.org/Plugin_API
I’ve done something similar, however, the user I created I did by using the dashboard feature to create a new user. I could then login as that user. (Wasn’t quite sure what level to give them, mind).
I wonder if it sent you a confirmation email (you, in the user role, not you in the admin role) & your email system spammed it?
Have you tried creating one from the admin dash?
You may need to explain things in greater detail. Installed WP? and could you login in to the backend? before any plugins were uploaded; or had you managed to activate BuddyPress?
The error message you are getting is covered quite a few times on WP forums and the issue stems from WP rather than BP so you may like to look through a few of these threads for solutions?

Hello!
After installing WordPress, upload to the folder “plugins” BuddyPress, and when I want to log shows me the message: “I do not have sufficient privileges to access this page.”.
What can it?
