I’m going to guess that WordPress MU 2.7.1 doesn’t play nicely with BuddyPress RC1.
However, I’m going to try them out and see if I run into these same issues.
If you can give me a half-hour to install and configure and get back here, that would be awesome.
Worst case scenario, I’ll point you in the direction of how to download the trunk. BuddyPress RC2 will most likely be out by the end of the week (still have some minor things to test and clean-up before release.)

Those two would be the latest official releases. Where did you put bp? That version of bp should go in /mu-plugins. You should have a bunch of files like bp-core.php, bp-<whatever>.php in that dir and also a bunch of subdirs like /mu-plugins/bp-activity, /mu-plugins/bp-<whatever>
That what you have running?

If you are seeing this error then you are installing RC2/trunk verson of bp in /mu-plugins. That more recent version of bp requires to major things:
1) wpmu 2.7.1: http://mu.wordpress.org/download/
2) RC2/trunk bp does not live in /mu-plugins anymore. See the INSTALL-README.txt for details. It must be installed in /wp-content/plugins/buddypress and activated like a wp plugin from the wpmu admin back end Plugins menu. Activate site wide.
If you see something similar to the above error only with: Warning: require(BP_PLUGIN_DIR/bp-core/bp-core-signup.php) then please go to the wpmu back end admin area Plugins and activate the BuddyPress plugin.

I mean, WPMU 2.7.1 came out a couple hours ago. https://mu.wordpress.org/download/.
BP rc2 is likely to come out in the next day or two. BP rc2 and the current trunk and the v1 release will need WPMU 2.7.1. I suggest you wait for BP rc2, then upgrade to WPMU 2.7.1 and BP rc2 and see if the problem remains.

If that is the case, then this is the issue. WPMU 2.7.1 has been required since BuddyPress r1303.

I have an issue with my buddypress installation
When viewing the homepage or a member page no CSS is loaded in chrome, firefox or safari. However the pages are displayed correctly in IE7 and opera,

Anyone using this plugin? I have downloaded it and am i am trying to use it but i cant seem to get it to work. It works fine with google account and with csv emails but thats it.
Where am i going wrong? I am using wordpress mu 2.7.1 beta 1. And how does one ste up a facebook application to invite friends from facebook?

Well, bad news for me, but maybe good news for you.
The bad news is I didn’t made it into the GSoC; but the good news is that there is a proposal by other student that aims to implement photo albums into WordPress, so hopefully we’ll see this working in BuddyPress in the future.

this is correct…. not too difficult to move the interface to wherever…. as long as to include/loop the right core files…
will this modified plugin actual integrate with BP? or just get moved to profile?
by actually integrate, I mean for example:
– pics can only be viewed if your their friend
(just like you can only write to wire of friends)
– tags, titles and descriptions of videos/pics are searchable from the /members page
– gallery adds ability to “view random video” just like “view random member”
etc
if not, I fear this modified plugin will get replaced by whatever Andy and the Gurus come up with for RC2….
depending on the outcome, I’ll cover at least half… maybe the full $200 since your dealing with them… but I’d need to see/test it first on my install

If you’re not having any issues and are not actively developing new plugins for either WPMU or BP, then I’d say wait for the official release of both WPMU 2.7.1 and BP.
I am using wordrress mu 2.7.1 beta 1 and its running fine. Is it worth using beta 2?

I think one of the reasons there is a separate Member’s theme folder/CSS is because it is such a unique thing (ie. it’s not typical WordPress), whereas the blogs and site itself can use any old theme (with some exceptions).
The only thing that you really have to pay attention to is how you display the three columns that the member’s section is displayed in by default. By simply editing those widths, how they “float”, and other basic CSS attributes, you can easily change how they fit within the page and you can easily match your blog theme.

hi guys, i’m using the facebook connect plugin on a rc1 installation.
i’ve widgetized my blog theme (http://wikiroma.it/dontpushme/) to show members directly in my wordpress theme but i have a problem:
all the facebook connected users appear as “mistery man” in the widget (but if they are registered regularly in BP i see the right avatar). if i visit their profile, or the member page i see the avatars, but in the widget..no way. Maybe i should add some file to my wordpress theme to show them correctly?

it\\\\\\\’s hard to understand where is the problem: in BuddyDress i have the following external components: google analytics, google ad sense. The wp plugins that i use are the wordpress download monitor, wp-contact form, wp-postratings,wp-postviews.

I’m still playing around, and looking for the most appropriate hosting company to sign up with to host my WPmu and Buddypress sites, but if a BuddyPress for WordPress is out, that will solve much of my curreny problems with hosting companies
My wish is that site wide activation could magically turn normal per blog plugins into mu global ones.
I.E. one set of settings that encompass all installs.
