Hi all,
I’ll be releasing the theme used on http://bp-theme-converts.com on Friday.
If you have any suggestions or want any plugins supported, please leave them here or in the comments on http://bp-theme-converts.com/2011/02/prototype-bp-a-buddypress-theme-framework/Once released, it will be the parent theme for all future BuddyPress themes I release.
It comes with 6 layout options, 3 WordPress 3.x menu areas, multiple widget areas, breadcrumbs & unified search. If you spot any issues, let me know.
Hi,
I’m running buddypress (default theme) with the plugin secure invites. Every time somebody posts an update i get the following error:`Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cache limiter – headers already sent (output started at /var/www/vhosts/istedia.de/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/_inc/ajax.php:142) in /var/www/vhosts/istedia.de/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-mu-secure-invites/secure_invite.php on line 242`
I asked Chris Taylor, the author of secure invites and I got the following response:
`Hi. Looks like BuddyPress is outputting content before it should be (or that’s what the error message looks like). The session is started by Secure Invites in the ”init” event of WordPress, so anything outputting headers there is almost certainly wrong. Perhaps you could contact the BuddyPress guys to see what’s happening on bp-themes/bp-default/_inc/ajax.php:142`
I looked into ajax.php myself, but I have just a basic knowledge of php and I can’t see what exactly is going on – just that some registered actions were called.
Hopefully somebody here can help me out!
Best regards!
ThomasHello everybody,
I am new to the both WordPress and Buddypress. I just installed WP today and it is working fine however after manually installing BP, when I tried to activate it the following error was displayed:
“Error 500 – Internal server error
An internal server error has occurred!
Please try again later.”My hosting company is 1and1. I know this error comes from the server but I tried to search for it on google and I couldn’t find any useful info to solve it. Any ideas? All comments are highly appreciated.
Topic: Top Nav Bar Display Problems
Okay so I’m trying to integrate buddypress into my wordpress theme and aside from the some of the alignment issues (not too concerned with it at the moment but if anyone wants to help id appreciate it), there is some weird display problems with the top nav bar. Some of the menu items have a white background or something and it’s very hard to read the text, so how can I change either the background color or the text color on the top nav menu.
I took a screen shot of it so you can see what I’m talking about.http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q23/flipskater8391/Untitled-1.jpg
Thanks for any help!
I’m wondering if anyone has heard of a plugin that lets users send a message to another user with a prediction of a game outcome, and then lets them submit the final outcome score and confirm it before it shows up on the site activity feed. I already checked out Motor Racing League and World Cup Predictor, but I don’t believe they let users create new events to predict from the frontend.
Also, is there a go-to place to find freelance wordpress plugin developers? Or are developers usually contacted individually?
Hi,
I am very, very new to the WP world and want to find out some info for building a new site.
Does BP work with a deluxe theme like? http://deluxethemes.com/max/
What about another plugin like http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/mingle-forum/ I like there version of forums, but does BP work with that?
Can I revamp the user profile page in BP from this: http://testbp.org/members/johnjamesjacoby/
to this: http://www.ps3trophies.com/forums/members/35657-chaotic_cannon.html (this is a vbulletin create profile area and that is the visual look I want)I know I can get achievements for BP which is great. But I need to know how to set it up so a user can create a profile (register), get the auto email link to activate the profile, then how to let users see other users latest posts or blogs inside their profiles, and then tweak the profiles to look more like the examples I want). and of course people able to post comments on artciles on my main page and post in the forums withouth having to keep re-entering their login info.
Can someone help me please?
Thanks
I switched hosting and I’m currently using wordpress 3.0.5 and buddypress current version when I go to login at my http://hairremovalreviews4u.com/wp-admin/ login my screen goes blank Ive read about deleting plugins and reactivating them but how exactly do you do that from your files. Can Somebody list step by step instructions and other options in case that doesn’t work I’ve tried erasing everything and reloading from my backup but that doesn’t work. I’ve checked mysql database to make sure my files were loading correctly and all that info was correct my current mysqul version 5.0.83. Php 5.2.12.
The weird things is when I go to my main site everything looks like it works fine I just can’t log into admin. http://hairremovalreviews4u.com/ I’ve gone through this forum read about increasing memory limit and deleting plugins and reinstalling but doesn’t seem to be working. I havent altered any core files or made any changes to the wp-config file other than making sure the right mysql databse was being loaded dont have too much php knowledge but im familiar with html and css if I need to edit code I can do that if somebody list detailed directions. Thanks for the help
Topic: How to install Buddypress
I’m very new to all this and I’m sure this questions has been asked before: how do I install buddypress? do I need to install wordpress first? can the two be installed separately? I cant find anything in support and although I have read the ‘read me’ document in the download, I cant figure it out…
Topic: buddypress versus diaspora
Trying to figure out which software would fit best for my next project. Did I forget any advantages or disadvantages?
diaspora advantages
– pictures
– mobile
– social
– communication between server podsdiaspora disadvantages
– no group add-on
– no event add-on yet
– no search engine traffic
– monetizing difficult (no public content for adsense)buddypress advantages
– events (monetize with paypal)
– groups
– mobile add-on
– socialbuddypress disadvantage
– no good album plugin
– depends on wordpress (could be also an advantage)
– no privacy addonTopic: Community Menu bug
I am using a customised bp columns theme here and something like the community menu in this post.
I have one problem….
When one clicks on the news page, which is the blog and it’s not on the sites home page, everything is higlighted as expected. When one clicks on an article the parent menu isn’t highlighted. There is one class ‘current_page_parent’ but If I target that css then when any of the communty pages is being looked at the news page is also highlighted. The community menu being ‘selected’ doesn’t stop wordpress giving the news page the current_page_parent class. I can give the community menu that class but it then appears twice….
Is there a solution?
Topic: Is this correct?
Hi,
My aim is to have a normal site and a buddypress community on one domain.
This is what I did:
1) http://www.Mydomain.com – I installed WordPress and created a MySQL database. ( did not activate multi user)
– Standard single user WordPress2) http://www.Mydomain.com/buddypress – Created a subdirectory on my server called “Buddypress”
– Installed a complete WordPress installation in this directory
– Activated WordPress Multi User
– Created a MysQL database
– Installed and activated BuddypressMy understanding is that you can only install Budypress on all your sites (and not have a single WP and Budypress together – so that’s why I did the above.
Doing things this way might take longer because some plugins are used by “both”. But I feel that this is easier manageable and will help me keep things seperate. This totally works – so the question is : is this right ?
Hi
I’d like users that sign up to my wordpress multi site to get a wordpress theme depending on their profession, ideally they would select their profession from a dropdown list at signup and their associated theme would be used automatically
Is that possible?
Thanks
Dave
