    Send at mention and the notification shows 1

    Send another at mention and the noticiation shows 1 but mouse over and it shows ‘You have 2 new activity mentions’.

    Tested with trunk 3717 and wordpress 3.0.4

    Can anyone confirm?

    hey Colage, did you have any luck resolving this issue?

    To clarify, do these plugins work as expected when used with just wordpress, but not when integrated with buddypress?

    I am running buddypress 1.2.7 and have not been able to get forums to work. I went to Forum Setup and clicked to activate from an existing installation. When asked to provide the path to the bb_config.php file I pointed to the bp-forums folder in the buddypress install. I clicked the button and was told that forums were now activated. They are however not working. I get a blank page when I try to activate forums from within a group.

    The bb_config.php file that I pointed to still contains the security redirect and there is no bb-config.php file at the root level of my wordpress install. I tried to create an empty bb_config.php at the root level and point to it instead and that did not work. I also pasted the php I found at http://xref.yoast.com/bbtrunk/nav.html?bb-config.php.html – but that also was fruitless.

    What am I missing?

    Hello Everyone and Happy New Year!

    I really need some help here.

    I am using WP3.0.3 and Buddypress 1.2.7, but there seems to be a bug because when I change my profile in WP I get the following errors which completely destroy the functions of the theme I am using:

    Warning: call_user_func_array() [function.call-user-func-array]: First argument is expected to be a valid callback, ‘save_extra_profile_fields’ was given in /home/suneva/public_html/anewvideo/tester/wp-includes/plugin.php on line 395

    Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/suneva/public_html/anewvideo/tester/wp-includes/plugin.php:395) in /home/suneva/public_html/anewvideo/tester/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 890

    Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi

    I have created child blogs on a wpmu/bp install.

    how do I get the child blog to integrate into the network? list forums/groups/profiles etc?

    It seems my child blogs are as if the BP/WPMU main site does not exist?

    in group forum Installing BuddyPress

    OK I just recently installed wordpress for a new humor based website I am developing. I want to have forums for people. I feel it would make it easier for people to submit their own material and soforth for the site. So I installed buddypress but I am having a really big headache trying to setup the forums. I can not for the life of me figure out where to setup the categories. I would like to setup approx. 5 or 6 different categories. But like I said I can not figure out how. Any advice on this matter would be great. I feel like such an idiot.

    Some additional information which might be helpful:

    – It’s a BP child theme and my theme does not modify any of the group creation templates like groups/create.php
    – Issue has not been reported before and I can’t reproduce it.

    I don’t really know where the nonce check failures could come from. Is there any specific aspect of a Child Theme that could cause this stop working? I’m not sure what the actual message means :)

    Any help would be appreciated guys, we really want to fix this :-)

    Greetings,

    I’ve seen other topics on this issue, but they are quite old and nobody seemed to post any kind of solution.

    I’m using the theme BP-Slick, which is an excellent theme and definitely the one I want to go with for my site release, but if I can’t get this figured out soon I won’t be able to. I should also mention that this is a theme specific problem, but the theme creator (bowe) suggested that I post here because he is not able to replicate the issue.

    As I’m creating a group, when I get to the step right after uploading and cropping the group avatar, clicking on the “Next Step” button takes me to a white page titled “WordPress failure notice”. The page has a box on it that says, “Are you sure you want to do this?” with a link underneath that says “Please try again”. The group does get created, but something is obviously broken and I can’t have my users dealing with this issue.

    Reading up on this it seems that it’s a wordpress nonce issue, but nobody seems to agree on what exactly causes it or how to fix it.

    I’m running WP 3.0.4 Multisite (subdirectories) and BP 1.2.7

    Fresh, clean install on a brand new database with NO plugins enabled (except buddypress)

    Theme specific. Again, this error only happens when using BP-Slick, other themes work just fine.

    That’s not warnings, that’s me testing the API of Buddyvents (I’m the developer, by the way). What you see on the screenshot is actually a dumped query in JSON format, that your members could use to show events on their own website (doesn’t have to be WordPress).

    test.shabushabu.eu always runs the latest development version, so some warnings might show up from time to time (especially if I happen to test things), but the current version is stable.

    for some odd reason none of my users or i can start groups on my buddypress site, i checked to see if groups were enabled in my settings and it was on. i noticed that if i disable the start group setting my whole website on the front end goes outta wack. has anyone else noticed this problem or can tell me what to do please help starting groups on my site is a very important feature. i also started a group when i first started the site called help and support so i know it worked at one point. not sure if maybe updating my wordpress to 3.0.4 might have done it but it doesnt hurt to mension..

    P.S. just noticed my Events plugin is doing the same thing, nobody can create an event…

    figured it out…I had to make sure the WordPress URL and the Site Address matched, I guess because of how the Plugins decide which URL to use and it may cause conflicts in terms of a user’s session.

    I’m working on developing a new website that is going to be completely dependent on the WP Multi Network plugin. However, while working on some things today, I discovered that WP 3.1 is going to completely revolutionize the way Networks are handled in WordPress, causing the WP Multi Network plugin to stop working. I did some preliminary testing, and was able to get the options pages/site creation page working properly again, but other fundamental portions of the plugin are still broken.

    I was just curious if you had any plans to write a new version of the WP Multi Network plugin for WP 3.1. Thanks in advance for your time.

    Hey Guys,

    Much earlier on in the BP development process I launched a small social network site on WPMU. I’ve recently undertaken the task of getting everything updated and was thinking about trying to move the BP to a standard wordpress setup instead of MU. We don’t use the multiple blogs etc, and I’m much more familiar with WP than MU.

    That being said, if I exported the databases from BP on MU would they work in WP? Is there a plug-in available that would help convert the data to a format standard WP could understand? – I don’t want to move it over if I’m going to lose all data and have everyone sign up again.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello everyone

    I’m taking my first steps with Buddypress – although I’d say I’m fairly experienced at using and developing themes for WordPress.

    One thing I’ve noticed is that having Buddypress and Buddypress Template Pack Activated seems to seriously reduce the image file size you can upload. Logged in as an administrator, only images of around 50KB or less are uploading. Anything greater produces the dreaded red ‘HTTP error’ text.

    Deactivate the plugins and I have no problems.

    Is there a setting somewhere that I’ve overlooked?

    Would appreciate any help. Thanks

    Hi there, I am new to WordPress / BuddyPress…..great software..thanks

    So I am using WP 3.0.4 and Buddypress (1.2.7 ? I think). I also installed the ’facelook’ theme. I am going through the menu items as a administrator in an attempt to understand and work out how to change the webpage.

    My questions are…
    1. How do I change the name ’facelook’ as it appears on the webpage to something like ’MySite’.
    2.Should I use a PHP editor of is the editor you provide under admin sufficient?

    cheers

    Just to be sure, this is the right way to do it?

    # BEGIN WordPress

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /redsocial/
    RewriteRule ^index.php$ – [L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /redsocial/index.php [L]

    # END WordPress
    LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so

    Here is a potential fix, not guaranteed to work

    Go into your database, where you host all your files. Find the file: .htaccess.

    It should be in the root of your wordpress.

    Scroll down to the end of the file and add this:

    `LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so`

    It’s not that difficult to change words when you know how. I’ll step you through it.

    This is what localized text looks like in BuddyPress theme files _e( ‘Home’, ‘buddypress’ ). This allows BuddyPress to be translated into any language just by adding a file. You can also change the names of Groups to something else that better suits your network. Maybe you want teams instead.

    What is this localized text?

    The first part ‘Home” is the word or string that can be translated or changed. The second part ‘buddypress’ is used to say I want anything with this attached to use this language. WordPress scans through and everywhere ‘buddypress’ is it will swap out the first part with your word from a .mo file.

    You need Poedit

    http://www.poedit.net/download.php

    Download, install and open.
    Then you click file and choose – New catalog from pot file.
    Search for the buddypress.pot file. You can find it in the buddypress plugin folder inside bp-languages. This file has all the text that can be localized or changed that is located within the BuddyPress default theme. Poedit allows you to scroll through all the text and then change it.

    Screen shot 2011-01-12 at 4.55.14 PM

    Make all your changes by scrolling through list of strings and then adding yours below. When your done hit save. Save your file to something like buddypress-mychanges.po. Poedit will create another file with a .mo extension. This .mo file is actually the file that WordPress will read. It’s a better and faster file that computers can drill through. That way when you load a page the translation is instantaneous.

    Finally you upload the files, buddypress-mychanges.po and buddypress-mychanges.mo to the same folder as buddypress.pot was that you first opened.

    Ok, now we need to tell BuddyPress to use your custom language file. If you do not have a file called bp-custom.php in your wp-content/plugins folder then add one and then add the following code to it:

    <?php
    if ( file_exists( WP_PLUGIN_DIR . '/buddypress//bp-languages/buddypress-mychanges.mo' ) ) {

    load_textdomain( 'buddypress', WP_PLUGIN_DIR . '/buddypress//bp-languages/buddypress-mychanges.mo' );
    }
    ?>

    Test your site, you should now see changes. You can easily change future text by opening the buddypress-mychanges.po file and hitting save again. Each time you save it will create a new .mo file that WordPress will read.

    What are you trying to do — remove the comment links on comments to BuddyPress profiles, and just let them go to whatever the default in WordPress is?

    This is a bit tricky to achieve as it is set when the user account is activated. If you can clarify what the end result needs to be, perhaps there’s another angle of attack which we can use.

    I think there are probably a number of things that would cause that message but I doubt it’s permissions.

    When you installed BuddyPress, did you get the forums working *before* any customizing (plugins/themes)? I’d recommend always doing this when installing or upgrading because it will help you to discover issues before you make customizations of your own.

    I’m not sure what to advise, but you might try installing a completely vanilla (untouched) WordPress install in another subdirectory on your domain/server, and then install BuddyPress and and activate the forums on that test install.

    If it works on the test install, something you customized along the way is causing the issue and you should begin removing/adding those customizations one by one to pinpoint the problem.

    I can’t seem to get a new user signed up either. Seems like this was never sorted out. Does anyone know why it’s not doing it?

    I am using WordPress 3.0.4 and have installed and followed the instructions for the plug-in “BuddyPress Template Pack”. I’m fairly sure I understand how to work with the placement of the <div> tags to incorporate the BuddyPress pages properly into my layout. However, no matter what I’ve tried, I can’t get the content to align properly.

    If someone would please have a look at the code I post here and tell me if you it looks right I would appreciate it. I think the problem may be that my theme uses a <div> id of “content” and so does BuddyPress.

    This first set of code is the BuddyPress Activity/index.php file
    `<?php get_header() ?>

    <?php if ( !is_user_logged_in() ) : ?>

    <?php _e( ‘Site Activity’, ‘buddypress’ ) ?>

    <?php endif; ?>

    <?php do_action( ‘bp_before_directory_activity_content’ ) ?>

    <?php if ( is_user_logged_in() ) : ?>
    <?php locate_template( array( ‘activity/post-form.php’), true ) ?>
    <?php endif; ?>

    <?php do_action( ‘template_notices’ ) ?>

    `

    This second set is my theme’s page.php file
    `

    <?php edit_post_link('Edit this Page','

    ‘,’

    ‘); ?>

    `

    finally, this third set is the Activity/index.php file with both combined as I think proper. I’ve tried multiple slight variations of this to no avail.
    `

    • <a href="” title=””>
    • <a href="” title=””>
    • <a href="” title=””>
    • <a href="” title=””><?php printf( __( 'My Favorites (%s)’, ‘buddypress’ ), bp_get_total_favorite_count_for_user( bp_loggedin_user_id() ) ) ?>
    • <a href="” title=””>

    `
