    Following is a walkthrough of the Motion theme with the BP Template Pack https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/bp-template-pack-walkthrough-level-easy-2/ .
    Per example there, you need to copy Retromania’s HTML structure onto the 13 files within the BP folders transferred to your Retromania theme folder in server. Save revisions and upload to server. You need to copy some styling from bp-default and adjust to taste.

    I’ve got WP installed in a /directory with the index.php file in the root of my server. All was working fine. Then I installed Buddypress and it’s links are aiming at the domain.com/directory/… as opposed to just domain.com/…

    Any ideas how I can fix this? I’m familiar with WP but this is my first time using BP. So I’m a bit ignorant to it at this point. Should I just move it all back to the root of my server or is there a way I can fix it?

    I got this response at the WP support forums: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/buddypress-question-is-this-allowed-here?replies=1#post-1811820 So I came here to ask.

    Sorry if this has been asked an answered. :)

    Hi, I have installed buddypress for the wordpress theme ‘lightword’ – http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/lightword

    And the only thing that doesn’t look right is the sidebar is out of place. Would anyone be able to help me edit the theme so the sidebar is in its normal position. I have been trying for hours!

    Any help would be great. Thanks

    Hi there,

    We have a multi-site WordPress 3.0.1 installation with BP 1.2.5.2 installed.

    Today I just accidentally clicked “Network Deactivate” for the BuddyPress plugin, when I meant to deactivate a different one. Realizing my mistake, I immediately clicked “Network Activate” again for BuddyPress, and wp-admin came back with a page filled with a slew of these errors:

    Warning: mysql_real_escape_string(): 8 is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/wmaster/yexpress.net/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 785
    Warning: mysql_real_escape_string(): 8 is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/wmaster/yexpress.net/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 785
    Warning: mysql_real_escape_string(): 8 is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/wmaster/yexpress.net/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 785
    …

    BuddyPress looks to be active again, because I can see the admin bar up top, and our home page is looking okay. But WP Admin side was basically unusable because it was just crammed with the above errors.

    So in my panic so as not to halt our team’s development I changed the offending function so that PHP warnings would be suppressed:

    ` function _real_escape( $string ) {
    if ( $this->dbh && $this->real_escape ) {
    $orig_level = error_reporting();
    error_reporting(E_ALL ^ E_WARNING);
    $result = mysql_real_escape_string( $string, $this->dbh );
    error_reporting($orig_level);
    return $result;
    }
    else
    return addslashes( $string );
    }`

    At least now wp-admin is somewhat usable, though there are still a handful of similar MySQL errors still appearing in the header of every wp-admin page request:

    Warning: mysql_error(): 8 is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/wmaster/yexpress.net/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 922
    …

    Another serious problem I noticed is that the “admin” account I’ve been using, which is supposed to be a WPMU Super-Admin, has lost a lot of its rights. For instance, I can’t administer the global users table, or modify the available plugins to activate for sub-sites…

    Any help would be so appreciated! I’m a bit panicky because my other developers need to be able to use wp-admin regularly.

    Thanks…

    I keep getting the wordpress default login page for my forum http://forum.thoughtfieldtherapytft.co.uk how do I change this please so users can login into the main forum?

    Hello,

    extended profiles is enabled. I am using the default buddypress theme. I have permalinks set to non-default. Does it have anything to do with my blog not being my main page (instead of pangeastable.com it is pangeastable.com/my-palate). I’m thinking it may have something to do with the permalinks but I have no idea where to begin correcting this. I’m using yahoo hosting so you can install wordpress through our yahoo admin center. I also tried installing wordpress manually and ran into the same problem.

    Hi!

    I have also updated WordPress to latest 3.0.1. by using auto update. And got the same problem.
    Did You fixed it?

    What I did – just commented /wp-includes/query.php line 419: set
    `return $wp_query->is_page( $page );`
    to
    `//return $wp_query->is_page( $page );`

    at least, page works for now.

    Mod_rewrite is an Apache module and yes you are running on a IIS server so I’m afraid you have to use another method for url rewriting.

    If you head over to the WordPress codex you will find info on permalinks and getting url rewriting running under IIS

    Hi!

    I want to use Buddypress but somehow I can`t get it to work. No page can be found from Buddypress in the blog.

    When I press Signup link f.ex. the ”Cant find the file specified” shows up.

    I run the latest version of WordPress and host it on Domain.com which supports PHP5 and MySQL.

    Now I can`t find out how to do the mod_rewrite thing, I guess Domain.com does not support Apache?

    I really want to get this thing to work – maybe you can point me to a host you use and recommend? I would really appreciate it since it looks like Domain.com has an issue since it may be IIS servers. Still, the WordPress application works like a charm.

    I checked te Req`s from BP and I can check them all of except the mod_rewrite thing.

    Here`s the page – http://www.playlistvendor.com, mind you it is only ”beta” yet

    Looking forward to hear you opinions!

    Hi!
    I’ve installed a multisite wordpress with buddypress. One of these blogs will be a store.
    Is there any plugin or hack to hide this blog in every page that blogs are listed?

    @progressiveimpact,Try the plugin “Buddypress Announce Group” https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-announce-group/

    It is a group where anybody can see, but only admins can post content.

    gunju2221,

    Well at least it looks like you’re really, maybe, starting to get somewhere with the problem now. After you figure all of that out, and if still needed, locating the file within GoDaddy hosting still holds true, it will just likely be located in the “html” folder (or your “doc_root” in layman’s terms, as mercime so sarcastically points out). I didn’t catch the meat of the first page of the post before I replied so my baddie. The big file that you were referring to where the config file may reside just looks to be your absolute hosting path, which I would assume is on GoDaddy’s shared-hosting.

    and…

    Try not to take things so personally guys and gals. I was in direct contact with Andy Peatling well over a year ago discussing the possibilities of BuddyPress, and I’ve been using WordPress for many, many years now. I’m certainly not an expert on it all, and I don’t claim to be. I just happened by and saw a situation that I thought I could be of help with as I’ve had experience with GoDaddy’s hosting, and I’ve been on the BuddyPress boards many times before, just not to post, so “just everyone cool out” (as Will Ferrell’s version of Neil Diamond would say). I look like the new guy on the block. I get it, don’t worry. My original post still stands though, and I must always remember to heed it’s advice myself as well.

    By the way, I did notice that too… The need to probably want to replace the MySQL database info, Auth keys and so forth. I wondered why that was showing there in such a public forum. I’d personally now consider my install compromised and change that info asap.

    Actually, the bb-config.php file generated via internal forum installation by BuddyPress is located by default at the root of domain/subdomain/subdirectory where you installed WordPress. In other words, bb-config.php is at the very same level where you normally find wp-config.php file and the wp-content, wp-admin, and wp-includes folders. But thank you for trying to help out.

    Edit- hnla, you type fast :-)

    gunju2221,

    After logging into your account directly from the GoDaddy.com website, or the GoDaddy hosting control panel (https://hostingmanager.secureserver.net/Login.aspx), go to the Hosting Control Center and choose the File Manager that brings up all of the files in your hosting account. The “html” folder should be first to come up already opened and will house all of your site’s content. Next click on the “wp-content” folder. Then click on the “plugins” folder. Then click on the “buddypress” folder (this is where all files and folders related to BuddyPress reside as it is truly just really a robust, and wonderfully awesome, plugin). Then click on the “bp-forums” folder. You will then see the bb-config.php file. I believe that is the one you are in search of, no? You can’t access this through the wp-admin on your website. It must be done through an FTP client, cpanel, or as I have described above.

    I know it’s irritating when a problem arises and holds you hostage while you pull out your hair looking for the solution, but instead of continuing the “bump” business, and further irritating the folks here, you can always try searching out your questions about WordPress/BuddyPress in Google, Bing, blogs, and other forums and so forth. I’ve literally found the answers to a majority of my past questions elsewhere than on here, though BuddyPress.org and it’s community is the obvious authority on all things BuddyPress. That’s certainly no slight on the terrific community of developers and volunteers here on BuddyPress, it’s just a fact. It is getting better though as time goes on.

    The rest of the BuddyPress community,

    A polite suggestion to the folks on here trying to answer questions that people have who aren’t quite as familiar with the product as you; Treat it like a car. Generally speaking, people don’t really need to know how it works, they just want to know how to drive it. Keep it simple, and forget about all of the tech jargon and mumbo-jumbo. For the location of the “bb-config.php” file, spell it out in the most direct and simplest of terms that you can muster, like I did above with a direct path to the file (think picture book). That’s it. It shouldn’t matter where your installation is hosted at as the basic files should all reside in the same place, unless you’ve moved them yourself after the install. This suggestion comes from a tech veteran who’s worked in IT over the past 20 years – mainframes, networking, hardware, software, web, etc.

    @hnla, sorry, by “BB” I mean BP. And no, I do not have a separate copy of Buddypress. All I did to test it out is deactivate the BP template pack, and activate the BP Default Theme, thinking that would for-sure fix the problem. It did not fix the problem, checking off the list that it is not the theme that is causing the problem. Another Solution I did try was deleting buddypress plugin, and completely reinstalling it. Still does not fix the problem. I have set up a new installation for the forums several times, and I am just so lost on where to go!!! :(

    What do you mean by site setup? (I will list anything)

    Hello,

    I am new to WordPress and buddypress so hopefully someone can help me out with my issue. I cannot view or edit a profile because it will just load the members page showing all members. If I click on a member, the url looks like it is going to the members profile page but it just loads the members page again showing all the members. I have no problem creating a new member and uploading an avatar during the sign up process, my problem is after signing up trying to view profile or edit profile. I have my administrator profile and then I created a member profile to test (kkellercoo). My page is http://www.pangeastable.com/my-palate. I changed the permalinks to non default. Any help on this matter will be much appreciated!

    In the Buddypress themes category is the theme Platform listed. How do I enable buddypress features? Right now it only shows wordpress blog content.
