    I’m afraid all bbPress specific questions are better to be asked on the bbPress forum.
    I’ve checked their forum and I see that you got some answers, so it’s going, perhaps just not as fast as you wish. But all the help on forums is by volunteers, so it may take time 🙂

    Hello, I’m currently using bbpress 2.6.6 and buddypress 7.1.0, (wordpress 5.6, php 7.4.12, theme is siteorigin-unwind 1.6.6), and experiencing this problem as mentioned here, (members of hidden groups not being able to see the topics of the sub-forum). I’m a newbie with the background code, though my private and public groups are working. I can see the fix 7443 in buddypress.js that was indicated then, but am wondering if other people still have a problem with this, and if so if there is another fix available. Thank you.

    Hello everyone,

    I’m trying to setup a bbPress forum, not for fun, but attempt to generate some much needed income.

    I’ve run into some configuration issues, and help at the bbPress support forum has been scarce to say the least.

    Can someone please kindly point me in the direction of some group or individual that could answer a few questions I have regarding bbPress.

    Thank you so much much in advance for any assistance.

    Using WP 5.6. BP 7.1.0 and a variety of themes, including Avada, Olympus and WP 2019 and both the BP Legacy and Nouveau templates. I am unable to add a BP post. I can enter replies and create new bbPress topics and blog posts, but any type of post that generates new BP activity hangs when you press Submit and generates errors similar to the below in the JS console.

    I did not note this behavior before the most recent update.

    In other words, can the profile part of Buddypress become deactivated?

    Placed the widgets ‘Who is online’ and the one who was recently active in the footer. The names of the visitors are shown. But not their avatars (just the gray pic for missing avatar). In the bbpress forum their avatars are visible.
    How can I get them also visible in the widgets?

    Re: Member Directory & Buddypress “Recently Online Members” widget stuck

    Hello Mathieu,

    sorry I have to come back to you about this problem. After you helped identify a Java Script error on the membership directory page (see above), I was meanwhile able to trace it back to the CAOS Google Analytics optimizer plugin. Disabling it (not critically needed) fixed the java error (no more errors in the console on the membership directory page) – but the member directory and widget remain “stuck” (do not update). The myCred team also fixed an issue in their plugin update done at the same time, but it turns out also no having an effect on this critical Buddypress function.

    I recall you said you tested WP 5.6 and BP 7.0 and could not replicate the issue.

    However, due to the BP widget being stuck, we also enabled another widget to augment showing currently online members (part of the GD BP Toolbox Suite – https://plugins.dev4press.com/gd-bbpress-toolbox/ – which we use extensively).

    This GD widget works, and shows online members (albeit fewer and not as nice as the BP widget, and just a few active within the last few minutes) – while the BP widget does not work at all anymore.

    I think both GD and BP widgets access the same core information (users/members online) – so it seems logical to me, that the problem must lie within BuddyPress (and the 7.0 update), if its widget and member directory is not working (“stuck” with myself at the top at the state of a week ago when the 7.0 update was performed, by me as admin)?

    If you have any other idea how to go about it, my volunteer colleages and myself in the admin team at Scaffies would greatly appreciate your input.

    Buddypress is a substantial part of our community website, and access to the member directory is obviously important; the BP “recently online” widget prominently displayed on our internal front page is very popular within in the community, and it being stuck for a week now is a downer for the members. That is why we are staying on top of it to get it resolved.

    Thanks again for all your time and help,
    Kerrie
    Volunteer Admin, Scaffies community.

    What plugin are you using to restrict access to buddypress? This will likely need reconfigured if it is also blocking bbpress.

    I created a fresh install of WordPress, removed all themes except TwentyTwenty and all default plugins. Installed Buddypress from the WP repository. Activated. This is a fresh install set up to troubleshoot this Buddypress problem in another install.

    I can add users in the backend. If BP is disabled, users can register using the default registration.

    No WP errors are created or logged. A single proxy error is thrown. Noted below with real domain masked.

    Hi,

    I have a buddy press registration page on my site. Upon registration I can see the user info in wp_users table but no email goes out. For email I have configured WP Mail SMTP Pro and AWS Simple Mail Service (SES). The test email from WP Mail SMTP Pro works fine.

    After researching the issue, I found that other people had similar issues and this post helped resolve it https://ast.io/html-emails-buddypress-bbpress/. But in my case it did not help. After applying the suggestions in the post I am getting the following errors. Note that I am using WordPress: 5.4.4 and BuddyPress: 6.2.0.

    I think I may have spotted a bug in the notifications that are raised for a nested reply.
    In
    bbpress/includes/extend/buddypress/notifications.php
    LINE 165

    // Notify the immediate reply author if not the current reply author
    	if ( ! empty( $reply_to ) && ( $author_id !== $reply_to_item_id ) ) {
    		$args['user_id']           = $reply_to_item_id;
    		$args['secondary_item_id'] = $topic_author_id;
    		bp_notifications_add_notification( $args );
    	}

    I believe the secondary_item_id here should be $author_id.
    Otherwise:
    user1 writes the topic
    user2 replies to the topic
    user3 replies to user2

    This will add a notification for user2 with user1 as the author, where as it should have a notification for user2 with user3 as the author.

    The fix is to change this line to

    $args['secondary_item_id'] = $author_id;

    Would love to know if I’ve misunderstood the logic here, or if this is a genuine bug.

    Thanks

    Pete

    Does anyone know how to incorporate replying to BuddyPress discussions within the activity feed? We are using the BuddyBoss platform and BuddyBoss custom theme.

    We are trying to be a mainly forum/discussion-based site and we don’t use WP comments. So I want to have users be able to just click a “Reply” button in the activity feed to reply right there, versus being redirected to a new page (similar to Facebook’s reply/comments but for discussions).

    We don’t modify the core files, only modify through child theme. We are also running bbPress through BuddyBoss. We have GoDaddy hosting with a LAMP managed server setup.

    I’m new to WordPress and now I’m doing a project that related to buddyPress. But I don’t know how to customize the BuddyPress User Interface. The others pages I customized is using the elementor. The theme support told me that I can’t use elementor to customize it. I did some research on Internet. Some of them said need to use child theme. Can anyone tell me what should I do to customize bbPress or BuddyPress ?

    Besides, I wonder what’s the difference between listing and post ?

    Hi,

    I worked on a staging site I’ve now published live and it is not behaving the same as on staging. When logged in as a member, some of the BuddyPress (through BuddyBoss) pages return a 404:
    – cover photo
    – profile photo
    – privacy settings

    Also another odd one is the connection requests don’t display live when they did in staging – I am not sure that’s linked and the more urgent issue is those pages returning a 404.

    Troubleshooting questions:

    When I switch to plain permalinks the pages work but for the rest of the site it must be postname. When using post name these pages don’t work. I can’t find a way to make them work.

    [This is a repost as my first post seems to be corrupted, cannot be edited and doesn’t display on the site]

    Hello, I am seeing an issue where the BuddyPress plugin seems to be breaking the forum “Subscribe” / “Unsubscribe” links on bbPress. Strangely, it works if JS is enabled (and therefore XHR is used), but does nothing if JS is disabled and the embedded link[1] is used. It just reloads the same page without actually changing the subscribed / unsubscribed state with no errors.

    Notes:

    • I have tested this with all other plugins disabled.
    • Disabling the BuddyPress plugin causes both to work correctly.
    • Tried enabling / disabling all combinations of Buddypress bp-components with no effect.

    I upgraded both plugins and PHP to the latest versions:

    PHP: 7.4.10
    Wordpress: 5.5.1
    Theme: Divi 4.6.5 (tried others like twentytwenty 1.5)
    bbPress: 2.6.5
    BuddyPress: 6.3.0

    Questions:

    • Are there any known issues I should look into?
    • Any suggestions where to look for debugging? I have WP_DEBUG enabled, but nothing useful in logs. I have tried using Query Monitor plugin, but its a bit unclear where to start looking.

    NOTE: I am new to WordPress and its plugin architecture, but have extensive HTML/CSS/JS/bash shell experience and am comfortable in PHP.

    Thanks in advance!

    Jonathan
