Buddypress is a wordpress plugin, it is designed to be integrated with WordPress – it builds on its core features.

Firstly install WordPress (takes a few moments), add the Buddypress plugin and then work your pre-existing content in.

Because of feature updates, security, bug and reliability fixes it would be somewhat foolish to tear apart the plugin to use with your custom php.

Within that plugin you can set it (without having to modify the plugin) to just to friends, private or public, this is done from within the plugin page within wordpress, this then allows the user to chose on the front end.

This plugin makes your whole install private to non logged in users, thus creating another layer of privacy.

I managed to solve my problem by:

1. Unchecking the forums component in the BuddyPress Component settings page.
2. Renaming bb-config.php in your WordPress installation root directory to something else (making BuddyPress believe that bbPress is not installed).
3. Re-checking the forums component in the BuddyPress Component settings page.
4. Re-installing the group forum component in the BuddyPress Settings “Forum” tab.

Hope this can help someone else as well, was really frustrating not being able to post anything.

i don’t believe their are any plugins available that would help, so if your uncomfortable with code, you may need to hire a developer.

Otherwise, if your a developer or atleast somewhat comfortable around code then the members loop (1) sounds exactly like what your after with some help from this tutorial (2) from @sbrajesh

Hi guys.. hello @mercime.. am really serious about getting “groups” working in this new site am setting up. but i just can’t. i have already tried installing from either the plug in install or the manual download, still both didnt get my groups page work. i checked, i aslo have it right, http://gospelcast.org/groups/ but still as you might see (click the link) it will still give an error, page not found message. Like i said, i really need help on this. am even willing to give you my login details if you could just please help me figure what went wrong and fix it. thanks @mercime.

hi guys , i have same problem ,ofcource i dont install the Groups Extras plugin or bbpress, but i can not creat new topic in any forum of my site
the problem message is ” This group does not have a forum setup yet ”
in the past week me and the other users of the group have not any problem.but now we have it.
i uninstalled any plugin that i use in my site (else buddypress) but the problem still not fix.
i change the buddypress ver 1.5.5 to 1.5.0 but still not work.
please help us frinds.thank’s a lot

Are you trying to delete the group forums because a) you don’t want to use forum functionality on your site, or, b) you want to delete all the forums so it recreates new empty forums for you?

BuddyPress shouldn’t be doing that. Are you running any other plugins?

Running sub blogs is a WP feature ‘Multi Site MS’ – for guides on setting your blog to use the MS feature you need to head over to the WP codex and find the guide there for setting up MS

its under the default buddypress theme, in the registration folder you will find the register.php
